Welcome to LBM Expo ’17, where dealers and associate members

will COME TOGETHER to strengthen their businesses. Based on

enthusiastic feedback from last year’s attendees who enjoyed

hotel convenience, reasonable prices, and a warm welcome at

every turn, LBM Expo will return to Providence, R.I. It’s an easy

commute via highway, rail, or air.

Once again, the Expo show fl oor will be packed with hundreds of vendors offering

the latest products in the industry. What a terrifi c opportunity to learn what each exhibitor

offers while comparison shopping in your own backyard.

This year, we’ve selected three exceptional education events to address the issues

you’re facing now and down the road. Steve Cucchiaro, president and chief investment

offi cer of 3Edge Asset Management, is a highly respected expert in the investment

world. You won’t want to miss his take on the global capital markets. He’ll prepare you

for a number of potential investment environments. In addition, with recruitment a

top concern for our industry, a panel of experts known for their success in attracting,

engaging, and retaining retail talent will share their impressions and tips with you.

On the last day of the Expo, you won’t want to miss our new Futuristic Friday

breakfast event. Doug Stephens, the Retail Prophet, will tell you about the practically

unforeseeable changes coming to the retail world and how you can be ahead of them.

Hint: this is not only good for owners and managers, but is a great way to show your

staff the exciting future ahead!

On Thursday, the Northeastern Young Lumber Execs (NYLE) will celebrate its 30th

Anniversary at the NYLE Annual Meeting, where they will honor the 2017 CHIPs and

Redwood Award recipients and induct their incoming President Mike Duval. Following

NYLE’s meeting, attendees will enjoy refreshments and watch the presentation of the

Scott Robert Vasquezi Memorial Scholarship and Scholarship Fund 50/50 Drawing.

As always, LBM Expo will provide you with the chance to catch up with friends and

make new connections. What better way to do so than to participate in the extremely

popular “Discover Providence” tour where NRLA state and local associations host

attendees at various taverns while providing the opportunity to compete for prizes.

The fun will continue on Thursday night with attendees enjoying the world’s best

Beatles Tribute Band, “Britishmania,” as we also honor NRLA’s own stars, the 2016

Lumber People of the Year and Lifetime Achievement winners.

This is a lot to squeeze into two and a half days, but we know your time is precious.

I encourage you to take advantage of all LBM Expo has to offer, from the products and

services on the exhibit fl oor to the many opportunities for networking and professional

development. We look forward to seeing you in Providence!

NRLA President, Rita Ferris

LBM EXPO ’17 • FEBRUARY 15-17, 2017Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence, R.I.

WHAT ARE ATTENDEES SAYING ABOUT THE RHODE ISLAND CONVENTION CENTER AND PROVIDENCE, R.I.?

“The layout was nice this year, and simple to navigate.”

“Glad it was in Providence, nicer venue.”

“Easier to get to than Boston. Big improvement.”

“Great town, very walkable.”

“Easier to park and less expensive than Boston.”

“Didn’t think I’d like Providence, but I did! Will go again.”

“It’s a nice little city. Parking is easier.”

“From Maine, it’s less than ½ hour difference than to Boston.”

PROVIDENCE IS……a great city for shopping. From boutiques to department stores, Providence offers ample shopping. Providence Place offers visitors a mall with more than 170 shopping, dining and entertainment options. Funky urban chic can be found at one of the many boutiques on Thayer and Wickenden streets, both on the city’s tony East Side. From the hip downtown neighborhood, to elegant Wayland Square and eclectic Federal Hill, there is lots to see and buy.

…a food-lovers’ paradise. Providence’s Federal Hill neighborhood has been hailed as “One of the Five Best Little Italy’s in the U.S.” by celebrity Chef Mario Batali. And while the city’s rich Italian infl uence clearly still thrives there, Federal Hill’s restaurant scene also offers a diverse selection of cuisines including Indian, Asian and Mexican.

…celebrated as an arts mecca. The renowned Rhode Island School of Design has had a tremendous infl uence on the city’s arts community, with plenty of galleries, theaters, art installations and other cultural attractions within walking distance of area hotels.

…closer than you think.
