Introduction• Rosanne (Roseanne) Bostonian, PhD, is a healing arts

practitioner who spent a twenty-five years as a school psychologist and in private practice before turning her focus to the alternative healing arts. With a PhD in school and developmental psychology, a certificate in life coaching, and Reiki certification, Dr. Rosanne Bostonian is currently augmenting her education by studying foot reflexology.

Reflexology focuses on applying pressure to certain points on the body to address deeper issues in relation to certain organs. These pressure points can be found on the hands, ears, and feet.

Reflexology• According to reflexology theory, the soles of the feet create

something like a map for the organs of the body. The right foot corresponds to the right side of the body and its organs, such as the liver, while the left foot corresponds to the left side and its organs, such as the heart.

While professionals do not agree on the certainty of using reflexology as a medical treatment, some studies in Denmark have shown reflexology sessions reduce stress, improve general health, and prevent sick days at work. Reflexology is also a popular practice all over the world, and many people use it as a complement to other treatments for a range of medical issues, from PMS to cancer.
