MY WAYFARE WITH REDINGTON FOUNDATION
A Trainer’s Note
“Goodness is the only investment that never fails”, and this is the ultimate reason for
the celebration. Redington Foundation has stood out as an example in this regard and
traversed three whole years. With much of that pride and happiness, the Redington
family convened the 3rd anniversary celebrations on March 7, 2018 at Feathers Hotel,
Ramapuram, Chennai.
Redington Foundation has enlightened the lives of various students and created young
individuals with a sense of responsibility towards the society. The foundation has
changed the challenges faced by various students across the state.
Mr. Raj Shankar (Managing Director), Mr. E.H. Kasturi Rangan (Whole Time
Director), Mr. S.V. Krishnan (Chief Financial Officer) of Redington (India) Limited,
and the Trustees of the Redington Foundation were the Chief Guests for the event.
The event kick started with a prayer which added much energy and excitement to the
beginning. It was sung by students from Papanasam college, followed by a welcome
speech by Dr. Purnima Rao, Trustee, Foundation for CSR @ Redington.
The Project Heads of READ, REACH and EXCELLENCE gave a quick snapshot of the
journey of Redington Foundation. They addressed the gathering on the highlight of
the projects, areas covered and the beneficiaries. They also sailed through the
presentation on digital transformation and automation which is to be brought into the
activities of the foundation through Redington Foundation Projects Management
System.
The event was marked with spectacular performances by students from Tiruvallur
College, GV School and Valliyur School. They played skits to enlighten the gathering
on the change that Redington Foundation has created in their lives. There was a
moment where the entire hall was awestruck and was looking at the stage without a
glimpse on the eye, where the hearing impaired students flocked their movements to
the music without missing a beat. The Peacock Dance, Karagattam and
Shivathaandavam added more luminance to the event.

of saying “When I am going to hang by boots on my Corporate life, I will dedicate the
rest of my life towards social activities”.
The event witnessed a strong participation from the employees of Redington (India)
Limited. Many senior staff members including Mr. Clynton Gerard Almeida, Dr.

The foundation has infused life to various schools, namely, NMR Subbaraman
Memorial Residential Primary School, Sri Athirikala Middle School and Nandi
Adigalar Primary School located in Madurai, Sivasailam and Trichy respectively,
which were at the verge of losing their licenses to operate. One of the schools was
having an asbestos cement sheet as the roof top and the school was in a devastated
situation and hence unable to provide a secured environment for the students.
Redington Foundation has provided infrastructural support for the schools and
transformed the same into “Redington Block” in the memory of Shri. M. K. Chanrai.

“REDINGTON” – the word that has been chanted by many rural youth nowadays
and it is because of its idea of taking soft skill training to the door steps of rural
students. Soft skills are increasingly becoming the hard skills of today’s work force.
In order to cater to the same and thereby making the dreams of the students as well
as their parents come true, Redington Foundation as its CSR initative started this
program.
My journey with Redington Foundation started from February 2017. Through this
CSR activity, I had been also given social responsibility, wherein I had the
opportunity to mould the raw clay to empowered individuals, enabling them to face
the realities of life. In this process, I was compensated not only with hefty salary but
also immeasurable respect and recognition.
I started my training program in Sri Saradha College for Women, Tirunelveli for the
academic year 2017-18 on 2nd August, 2017. The three dimensional training given to
the trainees are as follows:
MY WAYFARE WITH REDINGTON FOUNDATION
First year – They were given awareness about Redington and also conducted various
competitions in which more than 150 students participated enthusiastically.
Second year - Redington has been a boon via English Language Lab, wherein I can
see the students who literally cried when asked to speak in English are now able to
speak fluently and flawlessly without hesitation. Yes, it is a miracle.

I would like to wish Redington Foundation more and more success in the years to
come by which they READ the needs of the rural student community and REACH
them and enable the rural students to lead a life of EXCELLENCE.

Final year students from UG & PG – They were given training on the basis of an
apt syllabus that covered communication, self-confidence, interview skills, aptitude
test and general awareness of various concepts like banking, taxation, economy, etc.
As an end result, they grabbed jobs in various companies successfully. There was a
good ambience, able support and cooperation from Redington Foundation, College
Management as well as my sub-ordinate staff.
