Schedule: Starting May 29, your collection frequency remain biweekly. Your collection day will be on Friday. Holidays: Collection will occur even on holidays except Christmas and New Year’s where an alternate date will be set, usually the Saturday. Please note that the Walton Landfill Site will be open on Dec. 26, 2020.User Pay: You will no longer need to buy tags for waste collection as waste collection is now part of your residential taxation (farmland is not taxed for this service). Until the end of June, refunds for unused bag tags can be obtained from the retailer that sold them or at the Municipal Office.

Collection Changes

Set out your “wheelie” bins at the road when full (or almost full)TTIP: The “wheelie” bins should be placed at least 3 feet away from any other objects with the wheels and handle pointing towards the house and the lid opening towards the road. The truck arm can reach up to 12 feet. Do not place the bin where it might interfere with pedes-trian traffic on sidewalks or vehicular traffic on the road.

Empty the blue box contents into the Blue recycling bin.Place your kitchen catcher bags directly in the Black waste bin.TTIP: Place all the recyclable items loose in the bin. Do not bag or tie anything to help us separate better with the exception of plastic bags and shredded paper which should be bagged before being placed in the bin. Trash may be bagged in bags if you wish.

Collect all your materials inside your home!TIP: Gather your recyclable materials using your blue box. See the lid of your new bin for acceptable materials. Use small kitchen catcher type bags around the house to capture waste where ever it is generated.

Stand alone commercial properties, and multi-residential sites such as apartment, or condo complexes, are not automatically included in the municipal collection system.

Commercial and Multi-Residential Sites

Some materials are just not made to be disposed of curbside. Whether you are a resident doing a spring clean up, a reno-vation project, or you have oversize items to dispose of, you can bring it directly to the local landfill. Regular waste is subject to regular disposal fees. The Walton LLandfill Site is located at 42966 Blyth Rd. Walton.• Air conditioners, fridges, freezers and other items containing Freon require a disposal tag.

Bulky WasteThe County of Huron operates a Household Hazard-ous Waste depot at the Mid-Huron Transfer Site. Contact the County of Huron at 519-482-7668 for more information. The Mid Huron Transfer Site is located at 37506 A Huron Road (Highway 8) near Holmesville (open Tuesdays to Saturdays 8 am to 12:30 pm).• Batteries (household, rechargeable, automotive)• Household cleaners, such as bleach & oven cleaner• Energy efficient bulbs, fluorescent tubes/bulbs• Hair dye, nail polish, nail polish remover• Paints, varnish, solvents, • Caulking, glue• Fuels, antifreeze, • • Brake fluid• Used motor oil

Hazardous WasteBring all of your E-Waste free of charge to the e-waste bin at the Walton Landfill site. Refer to the municipal web site for more information. Here is a list of accept-aable recyclable electronic waste.
