RECENT VLF SURVEY RESULTS
D. MEUNIER PROPERTY. LOVELAND TWP.
Introduction:
Some further VLF surveying has recently been applied to certain sectors to the east side of the Dave Meunier property in the centre south of Loveland Township, District of Cochrane, Porcupine Mining Division. The obtained results are presented and discussed herein.
The Methodology:
A grid of lines prepared for the purpose as shown has recently been surveyed (in Nov. '00) by VLF. The receiver employed was the Geonics model EM-16 with an accuracy of 1 0 and 1 07o in the in-phase and out-of-phase components respectively. The broadcast field here utilized was that of NAA (24.0 kHz) located at Cutler, Maine.
Observations were taken every 25-m along line. The lines themselves (mostly) 100 m apart oriented ENE. In total the surveying amounted to 13.5 km.
Coverage was effected in two segments, a north cluster of 7 lines and a similar cluster of 8 lines in the south. The gap between the two is 400 m. This disposition was undertaken to avoid the high rocky ground in between and an alien claim, which cyts in from the west. -
Description of Grid Area:
The area surveyed is embraced by a suite of 14 contiguous claims which themselves are part of a larger holding, all recorded in the name of David J. Meunier of South Porcupine. Those claims affected by the present traversing are specified as follows:
EXGAblBUR INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANTS bTD.
Claim No. Units
1113135 11114982 11114983 11159768 11159769 11159770 11171679 11207474 61207475 21219257 31219030 11226324 11228725 11228727 1
TOTALS 14 22 incl. Fractions
Topographically the ground enclosed by these claims is dominated by a cluster of hills of rock outcrop (basalt), in particular by a central peak rising some 70-m above the surrounding plain. The hills govern local drainage and explicitly are the source to a stream, which flows southwest therefrom through a chain of ponds the most northerly of which occurs on claim no. 1207475.
Discussion:
The field data have been directly plotted in profiles, and then Fraser filtered to remove extremes of response and to allow contouring. The outcomes are as shown (Dwgs. Nos. EIC-2749, 2750).
What is quickly apparent is that there is crosscutting feature. The general run of the geology is N-S in this sector, but the lineaments defined by VLF anomaly bear either NNE or NW. Excepting the powerline following the road, there is little that is prominent which trend N-S. Thus the transgressive nature of the main VLF axis are taken to be due to faults, a series of them in fact and interlacing. On the evidence of a perceived lateral displacement to one of the NNE faults, it is supposed that the NW set is younger than the NNE one.
In background, there appear some weak features that trend N-S and these are taken largely to signify bedded geology. Some however may indicate shears and one particular VLF event on claim #1114982 in the area NW (Dwg. Nos. EIC-2750, 2751)

Strikes into the environment where interesting alteration and mineralization have been intersected in past drilling. Structurally this feature may turn out to be genetically important.
Recommendations:
These results lead to recommendations. Since the grid has a gap in its middle necessitated by a salient of alien claims, coverage has not been as complete as geology would have normally demanded it. It becomes important thereby that the most promising VLF indications be confirmed in conventional EM here and pinned down with respect to property boundaries.
To this end, it is recommended that traversing be undertaken by horizontal loop EM (e.g. MaxMin II at 1777 Hz with an intercoil spacing of 200 m) over the lines 10600N, 10200N, 10100N, 9300N, 9200N. Lines may need to be extended in placed (or in the case of 10100N, taken down the claim line).
Test drilling can then be sited on the findings.
