Reader ProfileI am aiming to target my magazine at the age group of 14-25, so a relatively young and active collective audience. Due to the fairly young readership, most will be either in some form of education and may only have a part time job so will not have the most expensive tastes. My magazine however is going to be gender neutral and will appeal to both men and women.

The genre and contents of my magazine will be focused towards the indie culture. This social group in particular lives for the cutting edge, out of the mainstream developments in media culture. They enjoy being different and challenging social conventions and normalities. Idols and celebrities they appreciate include Alex Turner (lead singer of Arctic Monkeys and The Last Shadow Puppets) due to his popular indie character status and as well as this actors such as Jesse Eisenberg, who reinforces the quirky outsider image.

My readership are very lively and like to be out at events, such as gigs and concerts, spending a large portion of their wages on such events. As well as this they spend much of their money on clothing, yet they don’t shop at expensive, high street stores and like to invest in smaller, independent stores, outside of the mainstream. However they still find appearance to be an important factor in their lives. They could be likened to hipsters, yet with less emphasis on being different, rather simply supporting things that are less well known.
