Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.Let there be peace on Earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father, brothers all are we,Let me walk with my brother,in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me,let this be the moment now. With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow,
To take each moment and live each momentin peace, eternally.Let there be Peace on Earth, and let it begin with me.

CLUB SECRETARY BENJIE TAN
little past eight o'clock, the meeting was Acalled to order by Pres. Tony and Dir. Joel Balagtas took over as night chairman taking
the place of Rtn. Jay Queyquep. Though Dir. Joel was called on the spot, he readily and gamely accepted the task of being the night chairman and he did a great job.
For the invocation, Rtn. Rene Farro was called and invoked God's presence and assistance. The singing of the national anthem was done in chorus.
PP Norman Velasco led the Downtowners in singing the welcome song even in the absence of visitors after which Rtn. Alex Domantay recited the Four Way Test and impressively did his task. For a baby Rotarian actually reciting the 4 way test without reading is remarkable. Good work Rtn. Alex.
Joke time was participated in by PDG Alvin, Rtn. Beep, Rtn. Rene Farro, Pres. Tony and yours truly. PDG Alvin, due to the absence of the Inner Wheel members took the chance to share his “PG Rated” jokes, same is true with Pres. Tony. Prepare your jokes again for next meeting.
And speaking of next meeting, it was agreed, during the President's time of Pres. Tony that, for our induction, we have to submit or pay our assessment fee of Php 2,500.00 or submit and ad worth that much. It was also announced by the president that our induction shall be done in Star Plaza Grand Ballroom instead of the smaller room. Around 10 dignitaries were already verbally invited by PDG Alvin. Aside from the assessment fee, it was agreed

that everybody should bring one bottle of wine/liquor or Php 200 in case you failed to bring one.
In addition, Pres. Tony announced that our attire for the induction shall be black suit and red tie for the gentlemen and preferably red dress for the ladies. It was suggested by PP Jermy that we give ladies the freedom to choose what to wear but Pres. Tony strongly suggested that the ladies wear something with red to adhere to our theme “Men in Black” and “Ladies in Red”.
After all the agenda were adopted, PDG Alvin did the “finest moment” and fined everyone to start paying the assessment. Also, he acknowledged the presence of PP Amor Nino, who is now based in Quezon City. PP Amor promised to attend our induction and paid his obligation without hesitation.
Before the singing of the community song, Pres. Tony gave a short word about PP Amor after which everybody sang ”Let there be Peace”.
At about 2130H, the meeting was adjourned but fellowship continued.

HE past week was full of news about the bombing of the American T embassy in Libya leaving at least three persons dead including the ambassador to Libya. Protests were also held in different parts of the
globe but the violent ones obviously occurred in the North Africa and Middle East. Interestingly, Saudi Arabia, the seat of Islam, is conspicuously silent on the issue.
It is important to know what caused this violent reaction from the Muslim world, not necessarily the Arabs. The cause was a short film, titled “Innocense of Muslims”, uploaded in the internet insulting the Prophet Mohammad and depicting him as a womanizer and child molester. The maker of the film is an American immigrant of Arab descent.
Of course, the real motive of the author can be the subject of inquiry but is it enough that one's irresponsible action should affect the whole nation? The issue at hand is the result of one individual's act but its effect is so massive that it affected the whole nation. It is unfair to condemn the whole for the fault of a part. What these radical Muslims did might be incongruent with morality but they were greatly offended and insulted. Still, their action is difficult to justify but their anger is understandable.
It is good that the Muslims in our country are reasonable enough not to launch any attacks but showed their dismay over the incident.
What about the author of the film? He may invoke his freedom to express his opinion but freedom is not absolute, otherwise our world will be in chaos if it were absolute. We were given freedom for our own betterment. However, let us use this freedom responsibly and not recklessly. Anyway, the source of this freedom is not from the state but from the Almighty.

Firstly, I would like to thank those who made it to the meeting for braving the heavy rains. I was actually expecting a low attendance but surprisingly, my expectation was wrong. This just shows that when our club calls, we respond.
Our induction is just around the corner so we need to address the most pressing concern. Since we just increased the number of invites or guests, surely, our projected expenses would also go up. However, having had 26 inductions already, we will definitely be able to overcome any obstacles and problems along the way. Just like what our PDG said, the best thing about our club, despite differences in opinion and disagreements among members, which is natural, every time we are called to step up for our club, everybody steps up. I am hopeful that we will be able to hold a successful induction with the cooperation and collective effort of all the Downtowners.
I would like also to thank PP Amor Nino, one of the longest serving presidents, for dropping by our meeting. Thank you also to PP Jermy for bringing him to our meeting. For those who don't know PP Amor, he is one of the two best salesman I have known, the other being IPP Nestor. We hope to see more of you
As we have discussed last meeting, tonight will be the payment of the assessment fee. Also, everyone will be expected to bring a bottle of wine or PHP 200.00 if one wishes no to bring one. It was also announced that we have to put our best foot forward and so we have to be in our best attire during the induction. The gentlemen shall wear black suit with black trousers, socks and shoes. Please wear a red tie to complement our ladies who will come in red dress. Please prepare as early as now.
Like I mentioned earlier, we may or we may not have meeting on September 25. However, should I feel the need to call one, I will call a meeting to address some concerns.
Finally, I would like to request everyone to rally behind our club. Let us support our club and let us have a fun and enjoyable induction.222777

A little boy and his grandfather are raking leaves in the yard. The little boy finds an earthworm trying to get back into its hole. He says, "Grandpa, I bet I can put that worm back in that hole."
The grandfather replies, "I'll bet you five dollars you can't. It's too wiggly and limp to put back in that little hole."
The little boy runs into the house and comes back out with a can of hair spray. He sprays the worm until it is straight and stiff as a board. Then he puts the worm back into the hole.
The grandfather hands the little boy five dollars, grabs the hair spray, and runs into the house. Thirty minutes later the grandfather comes back out and hands the little boy another five dollars.
The little boy says, "Grandpa, you already gave me five dollars."
The grandfather replies, "I know. That's from your grandma."
Three friends went on a hunting trip. The first night, Roy comes back to cabin with a big deer. The others ask him how he did it, and he cooly replies: "I saw the tracks, I followed the tracks, and bang! I got the deer!"
The next night, Eddy comes back also with a big deer. "I saw the tracks, I followed the tracks, and bang! I got the deer!" was the Eddy’s story.
So the John decides to try it himself. But the next night, as he drags himself back to the cabin, his two companions find him bruised and bloody all over. "What happened?" they ask? "Well," replied John, "I saw the tracks, I followed the tracks, and bang! A train hit me."
