Massive book donation & distribution project a success!

It was one project that tested the resilience of the club.13,200 volumes of mostly hardbound reference books tobe given to a hundred schools through some 50 Rotaryclubswith just a day of preparation! A logistics night-mare! First, how to haul the huge number of books fromthe SM warehouse in Quiapo to the DAHHA clubhousein Bgy Holy Spirit in Quezon City. With trucks of Pres

Ped and AG Linda, the cargo was brought to its destina-tion. Then the big problem! The books had to be sortedinto high school, elementary and pre-school levels, bun-dled by straw cords for easier handling, and finally piledinto stacks for each school. Thanks to the 2 dozen Ro-taractors and Interactors, under the supervision of PresPed, PP Linda, Sec JR and Treas Marcia, all these wereaccomplished in nine (9) hours lasting up to 9:30 pm onthe eve of the book-distribution.

On book-distribution day, September 2nd, we wereready. The DAHHA clubhouse started to fill up as earlyas 1 pm. Pres Ped, AG Linda and Treas Marcia werealready around to receive fellow Rotarians and officialsof their respective beneficiary schools. The program

promptly started at 2 pm, with 80% of the co-sponsorclubs present. Mr Bob Navida, SM Project ManagerOutreach Programs, graced the occasion and vowedmake this an annual literacy project with Rotary. In middle of the book distribution activity, Gov Jess Carrives. What a pleasant surprise! His presence ctainly lent distinct honor to this very important event

To Rotaract PE Kevin and his team ato Interact Pres Harold and his team for the hard wthey put in to ensure the success of this project. Trthe project was an exemplar of teamwork for Rotariaassociate members and youth partners in-service.

Rotaract and Interact of Holy Spirit are prepared for service to the new generation

The Rotaract & Interact Clubs of Holy Spirit held a half-day orientation and membership drive last August 24, 2011 at the Elite Bu

ness School in Quezon City. Said activity is in line with the Rotary Club of Holy Spirit Service For New Generation (SNG) thrust to e

pand youth membership in both Interact and Rotaract this year. Present during the orientation were AG Linda and Club Service

New Generation Chair, Sec. JR. During the orientation, Rotaract President-Elect, Kevin talked about the Rotaract organization a

shared his personal experience and participation in the different community service projects of the Rotary Club of Holy Spirit. Rtn.

Rotary clubs join hands in book-distribution project

RC Holy Spirit assists sister club RC Marikina North in medical/dental mission

In support of the medical/dental mission of our sister club,

RC Marikina North RID 3800,on September 10, 2011 in San

Rafael, Rodriguez Rizal, RC Holy Spirit solicited and received

3 boxes of various medicines and food supplements from

United Laboratories Inc. The Unilab medicines were turnedover to President Dr Terry Amado of RCMN during its 31 st an-

niversary celebration on September 6 by President Ped. RC

Holy Spirit also donated additional medicines for adults and

children.

Dr Terry Amado is shown at right with some fellow Rotarians,

doctors and patients during the mission.

The mission served 342 medical patients and 70 dental pa-

tients from this farthest barrio of Rodriguez, overlooking the

legendary mountain called Bernardo Carpio.

Day 1 of the visit of the Rotarians from

RI D3650 had been a very busy one,

characterized by fellowship-building ac-

tivities with their host RC Holy Spirit.

In the afternoon, the visiting Rotarians

were conducted to meet officials and

pupils of Dona Juana Elementary School

and the Holy Spirit National High School.These two schools have been suggested

by RC Holy Spirit as focus for joint pro-

jects of the clubs.
