Holy Spirit Wheels of Hope project spreads joy to four more ind

    gent patients and their families

    Sunday, October 13, 2013 was

an auspicious day not just to

RC Holy Spirit but especially for

    four (4) indigent patients with

    physical disabilities and disor-

ders when they received theirmuch-awaited wheelchairs and

    walker. The first recipient, Mr

    Ildefonso Bonos, a 67 year-old

    stroke patient, cried unabash-

edly as he was seated nicely on

    the wheelchair, tailor-fit to his

size and built. His wife, a purok

    leader of the impovirished Pri-

dakas area of Bgy. Holy Spirit,

was not available as she was

    then preparing to celebrate her

birthday that day. What a happy celebra-tion for the Bonos family!

The second wheelchair recipient was Mr

Victor Matangga, a 47 year old man who

had brain tumor in 2008 and who eventu-

ally became blind. His wife recently died of

sclerosis. The third recipient was Mr Ana-

cleto Vicentino, a 50 year old man who con-

stantly salivates. His young children could

not bring him for extensive medical check-

up to find out what is wrong with him.

The fourth patient, Ms Gloria Manalang, is

an ovarian cancer survivor who has diffi-

culty in walking. She received a walker last

Sunday, and expressed happiness for hav-

ing received an early Christmas present.

The last three beneficiaries are residents in

Republic Avenue of Bgy. Holy Spirit.

IPP Marcia Salvador sincerely thanks Mr

Noel P Solancho, President of the Fairview

Philippines Stake of the Church of Jesus

Christ of the Latter-day Saints (LDS) who

greatly facilitated the release of the wheel-

chairs that she had been working on wother Rotary club conduits since March

2013. Erstwhile Rotarian Abe Floro, Pr

dent of the Don Antonio Heights Homeo

ers Association, helped RCHS get c

nected directly with the donors themselv

We also thank Elder Rogelio Credo and w

    Sister Maria Teresita Credo, Wheelc

Specialists of the LDS Charities, who

sisted in distributing the wheelchairs a

    explaining to the patients families

    proper use and maintenance ther

Thanks, too, to Bgy Holy Spirit Kagaw

Joemar Lagarto for referring the patients

    us.

Three (3) more of the patients we vis

last March 2, 2013 will hopefully soon

    ceive their much-needed wheelchairs.

Providing free wheelchairs to indigent p

ple around the world is one of the ma

components of the global welfare prog

of the Latter-Day Saint Charities organ

    tion.

IPP Marcia with Mr and Mrs Rogelio Credo and Pres Noel Solancho of the

Fairview Philippines Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of the LDS

Last Sunday, October 13, 2013, another oriental medical mis-

sion was conducted by Pres Dr Bong, youth volunteers from

the Sion Oriental Medical Mission Center, volunteers from St

Benedict Parish and two Rotaractors of Holy Spirit at the Don

Antonio Heights Wellness Center. A total of 53 indigent pa-

tients who were mostly young children with their mothers

sought medical consultations for various ailments. They were

given oriental herbal medicines and vitamins.

Assistance was provided by Ms Beng Alberto of the Salamat

sa Biyaya Foundation which had referred most of the patients.

The Object of RotaryFirst formulated in 1910, the Object of Rotary is to encourage and

foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in par-

    ticular, to encourage and foster:

. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for ser-

    vice;

. High ethical standards in business and professions, the

recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the digni-

    fying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's per-

    sonal, business, and community life;

. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill,

and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional

persons united in the ideal of service.

5 Avenues of ServiceBased on Object of Rotary, the Five Avenues of Service are Rotarys phi-osophical cornerstone and the foundation on which club activity is based:

humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world under-

    standing & peace.

and young adults through leadership development activities, service

    projects, and exchange programs.
