There is no substitute for boots on the ground exploration, however pre-planning reconnaissance work complemented with GIS capability can streamline the time spent in the field and maximise the data collected upon return. The modern suite of GIS and spatial data available to projects has the potential not only to support early exploration programs, but also good decision-making throughout the entire mining life cycle through to mine rehabilitation.

Ravensgate’s capabilities include the conversion of data into global or regional projection systems including local grid systems, cartographical services, geological data capture, providing spatial solutions to geological problems, cultural heritage management and environmental auditing.

GIS Services

A well organised database is the foundation for an accurate geological understanding of your project. To maximise the value from your exploration programme, Ravensgate’s consultants can implement global and consistent industry best practices for undertaking the tasks required to create and manage a project database. Core components include logging / validation procedures and assurance of a secure database system, which is backed up with adequate documentation.

With the recent changes to the JORC Code and the information requirements from international codes such as NI43-101 and SAMREC, the

representivity of data and validation of database integrity has never been more important for the generation of your resource and reserve models. Projects lacking this essential information may be adversely affected throughout the life of the project, resulting in ongoing costs to rectify and establish the confidence required.

The Ravensgate team has the experience and skill to validate your geological database and to advise on any requirements needed in order to bring your database to the level where it can be utilised confidently knowing it fulfils code requirements and is a reliable asset for your company.
