Day 1 - Coast Starlight to Monterey BayYour journey begins right at your doorstep this morning when our chauffeured transportation arrives at your home to transport you to the Amtrak Station for an early morning train. You’ll travel aboard Amtrak’s modern Pacific Surfliner to Los Angeles, where you’ll transfer to the legendary Coast Starlight. Enjoy stunning scenery as the train snakes up the coast past long stretches of Pacific Ocean shoreline, amidst coastal towns and through fertile valleys en route to the Monterey Bay Area. This evening, the Coast Starlight pulls into Salinas Station where our motor coach will be waiting to transport you to the beautiful Hilton Garden Inn Monterey for a two-night stay. [L, D]

Day 2 - Roaring Camp RailroadEnjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning before setting out to explore the coastal areas of this beautiful region. First, travel to Felton for a ride into the past aboard the Roaring Camp Railroad, a 19th Century steam train that travels over trestles, through towering redwood groves, and up a winding narrow-gauge grade to the summit of Bear Mountain. After the train ride experience some authentic western cooking with Roaring Camp’s Famous Chuckwagon Barbecue. Spend the afternoon how you please, whether at the hotel or take our shuttle to Cannery Row for shopping, dinner on your own, or a visit to the incredible Monterey Bay Aquarium which houses over 35,000 creatures in 200 exhibits.
