2002: W.E.B. is formed. 2003-2004: Rehearsals and search for band

members to complete the line up + Promo CD is re-corded.

2005: First gig abroad with Orphaned Land in So-fia Bulgaria. Signed a record deal with Sleaszy Rider Records. The first album is recorded in Fragile Sound Studios – Athens (GR). The first video clip of the band is filmed for the song “Cockroach”.

2006: On January the debut album “Don’t Wake Futility” is released. Great welcome from the press (both music oriented and not). Metal Hammer Greece honors the band with a cover on Horror (Metal Ham-mer’s index). Made a mini tour with To/Die/For and sev-eral one-off gigs to promote the album.

2007: The band composes and records their sec-ond album in Scythe Noise Lab – Athens (GR) and went off to mix it at Fredman Studios (SE) with Fredrik Nor-dstrom. Later on filmed two video clips for the songs “Enthorned” and “Blossoms Cry”.

2008: On May the second album of W.E.B. is re-leased with the title “Jesus Heist”. Very good critics about the album. Got th e 8th place of sales in metal music albums in Greece. The band gets to have an-other cover for Horror of Metal Hammer. First part of the Sinful Jesus Greek Tour with Inactive Messiah takes place. Also first headline show in Cyprus ends 2008 the best way possible.

2009: The band takes the 4rth place in “Best Greek Metal Band for 2008” by the vote of Greek Met-al Hammer’s readers. Second part of the Sinful Jesus Greek Tour starts in spring. In June W.E.B. join Forces with Septic Flesh, Inactive Messiah and Dimlight on the Greek Alliance Eastern European Tour, the first tour in Europe with a bill of Greek bands only. The band takes an intermission and starts working on the composi-tions of their third strike.

2011: Participated in The Great Mass French Tour 2011 with Septicflesh, Svart Crown & Valet Parn and just before that played in Durbuy Open Air Festival 2011 in Belgium along with Septicflesh, Celtic Frost and more. At the same time W.E.B. has entered the Devasoundz Studios - Athens (GR) to record the third album.

2012: W.E.B. cooporate with Daniel Castleman of Lambesis Studios - USA for the mix and mastering of their third album and on 12.12.12 they release «My Storm Upon You» EP

My Storm Upon You EPThe Chronicle

The whole idea of this EP came up by the time we were about to finish the recordings of our third album. There has been quite some time since we got something new out there and the album would surely have some more way to go in terms of time until its release. Well all that in-cluding that the idea of W.E.B. was originally born 10 years ago we thought it would be enough reasons to make a cool release with new, old and weird material and show the different perspec-tives of our music through com-pletely different angles concern-ing some older songs of ours and a cool new song just for this re-lease plus a cover song as a trib-ute to one of our favorite bands sounded really interesting in our heads.

So we started working on this strange schedule among 4 dif-ferent studios with ambition and a camera following us with Ch-aralambos Michalopoulos film-ing and directing a small docu-mentary for the making of this release. You can find all the epi-sodes of this documentary in our Official YouTube page.

Three out of the six songs were recorded / mixed / mas-tered at the same studio as our album. This would be Chris Anto-niou and Fotis Benardo of Sep-ticflesh’s Devasoundz Studio. We believe that in this recording studio we have found all we ask for in all aspects concerning our recordings so there was no ques-tion about it.

In these three songs of course it was the cover we did for Sep-ticflesh. A medley of Anubis and Faust with a different approach

on each of them just to bring them close to the W.E.B. kind of sound. Great honor in this song was the contribution of Andron-iki Skoula (Chaostar) and Niki-Rosa Frei in choir operatic vocals which gave a more epic feel to the cover.

The rehearsal song we did (and filmed) was completely done at Basement Studios through Base-ment Productions. Not only this is our rehearsal place but the guys there have made a good job in making videos so we thought of showing a perspective of the band in our every-day kinda feel-ing when we rehearse and also give a taste of how W.E.B. sounds live. Chris Tsoukalas and Evi Zevgara recorded our rehearsal and also filmed it and mixed the whole thing and it came out re-ally amazing. This video was also the first thing we ever got online as something quite new of us.

The industrial and orchestral versions of the other two songs were done in W.E.B.’s frontman Sakis Darkface personal stu-dio, Dark Fairy since he took on them personally concerning their arrangement. He mixed the or-chestral one but the industrial song was mixed and mastered in Sound Abuse studio of Ntinos Prassas, live member guitarist of Septicflesh, former bandmate of Sakis Darkface in their previ-ous band Eternity and guitarist of industrial/black metal band Nyne. Ntino’s works with indus-trial bands as Nano Infect and of course Nyne sounds amazing enough to ask him to cooperate in our industrial remix too.

How and when were W.E.B. formed?W.E.B. were actually created by accident in

a way. Since I was little like 14 years old and I begun playing with my first school band, I just moved on and on and kept being involved with what I love the most, which is to compose and play music with friends. Consequently when we took separate ways with my previous band Eternity within 2002 and since I was already forming a personal project at this time, this project got to be the beginning of W.E.B.

Your latest release “My Storm Upon You” EP came out last December. What was the idea behind it and how do you see it now?

The idea behind this EP was to give some-thing new as a band. Our last release before that was on 2008, so it was time for W.E.B. to give something new. We recorded it right after the new album recordings and we released it ourselves through DstroiD Productions. It in-cludes a new song “My Storm Upon You” and five more song covers of our own material with different music approaches and a cover medley to SEPTICFLESH’s songs “Anubis” and “Faust”. So far we are very happy both with the critics and the sales of this EP. It was un-expectedly good for us. I believe it was a good aurderve before the upcoming full length al-bum.

What does the name W.E.B. hide?Where Everything Begun… It has nothing

to hide if you ask me. On the contrary it un-veils the way to the place where everything begun, that is the abyss of the human soul in its darkest corners. This is where our true de-sires lay, all our sicknesses, our perversions, our dreams… the lot foundation of the termi-

nal that external individuals perceive as “char-acter”.

How do you compose your songs? Do you work as a team?

Even though the main composer of W.E.B. is me, I always seek for the approval from the rest of the band members. I want everyone to like what we play. I am always in search of new ideas and in the end no matter if some-one has composed a song, everyone commits even with a small idea that will give that little something more to the song. Everyone brings ideas and we are always working on them. Even now that we are not in a period of com-posing new material, we exchange ideas and riffs all the time. So in conclusion there is no standard recipe as you see. Things come out of a natural way and this was always the way W.E.B. follow.

What is the vision of W.E.B. and how difficult is it to achieve your goals?

We are four people that love and believe in W.E.B. very much. So we want to share our creation because we strongly believe it has something to say to the ones that will choose to listen to us or watch us perform. Yes, we do have goals and dreams but in the end we will be judged by the final outcome. We have long term goals that we always aim at by be-ing very careful during every next step and de-cision. We are moving one step at a time and so far no achievement was easy. It took too much work in a personal level, in sacrifice and many more. There is no easy way to make it upwards. When you take the easy way up the only thing you will get is to fall even faster and history has proven that.

What were the help and the difficulties you have met so far?

Difficulties were around the whole time. It was almost only difficulties and nothing else. I do not need to get into details so I will just tell you that it takes too much time, money and sacrifice to make an album and in the end you are dealt with as if you are a complete zero that means nothing. This unbalanced situation is of course something natural in every art but through this someone can understand how it really is. Of course there were people that also helped us and the most important help came from SEPTICFLESH that chose us as a support into two of their headlining tours in Europe and this opened many doors to the band and taught us many lessons on how we should deal with our career as a band.

Is there a small or big secret about W.E.B.?

The secret is that we always keep every-thing secret until the right time comes.

What are the plans of W.E.B. for the future?

Right now we are in search of a label to release our new album.

What do people think about you?I guess you should ask the people about

this. What we perceive so far is that anyone that discovers our music becomes attached to it in a very special way. This is very important for us.

What is the element of your sound and which are your influences?

We sound like an amalgamation of many things. Let us not be chaotic though, if we are to sum it all up as easy as it gets I will simply say that the fans of black/goth metal will get from us what they like. We always used the term Dark Metal to describe our sound. As art-ists we are literally influenced by everything. When we have a discussion or when we jam etc there are always new things on the table

starting from other bands to sculpture tech-niques or personal experiences that express or torture our existence trying to find their way out of us.

What should someone expect from W.E.B. to listen and se in your live perfor-mance?

For sure you should be expecting to get the 110% of our energy and power, and some-times surprises that we like to give to the au-dience very much. The rest… on stage.

Does the distribution of music through the internet help the artist?

No doubt it is part of our time. Since the last decade the way music industry works keeps changing constantly not only from the side of the audience but also from the la-bels and agencies. The distribution of music through the internet is a major element of the music universe nowadays and I believe it has its benefits and its disadvantages that we all know. Concerning W.E.B. up to now this has helped us. Many people downloaded our last album “Jesus Heist” and this was positive for us because many people got to know us and a number of them also ordered the actual CD. Don’t forget that metal and rock fans are true music lovers still.

What was the best moment for W.E.B. so far?

pecially the concert in Paris not to mention the fact that all of our merchandise was sold out in this tour. This was when the whole chapter of our previous album “Jesus Heist” closed and a new era started for us.

Music or lyrics? Which one comes first in the inspiration and creation of your songs?

You never know. A good piano melody, an aggressive guitar riff, a powerful drums pat-tern or whatever instrument could be the main guide of a complete song and even give the idea for the lyrics by itself alone. Same goes vice versa. The worst mistake is to have a standard recipe for such things.

What is the lyrical theme of your songs?I am very much into vampirism and demon-

ology. Many times I have also mocked religion and I also like to write about gothic romance.

Does the choice of the English language in your lyrics make things easier or more complicated?

Well it sure makes things easier even though we have used also Greek, Latin and French as

well. But of course the main language we use in our lyrics is English. Personally I say it is clearly a matter of perspective of each indi-vidual artist but, let’s face it, the language of Metal and Rock is English.

Is there something you wish to say to your fans?

We want to thank with our deepest respects everyone who supports us. We had been away for a bit longer than we should but we are back for good and we will not let you down.
