The smaller the parts, the more experience must be concentrated in the machine design to achieve a small footprint. The Citizen R series plays in a league of its own with regard to the ultra-high precision machining of parts with diameters up to 4 mm and 7 mm. The machine has been designed for exceptional precision, very fast machining, extremely short response times and for long-term accuracy with smooth running. Two rotary tools provide for extra flexibility.

The fast CNC control Fanuc 18iB and the direct measuring system (glass scale) grant high-precision machining even at extremely high axis feedrates.

Zero wear, maximum precision at high speed – the Linear Drive.

Linear drive

The use of a linear drive decreases the acceleration times and increases rapid feed rates of the axes. Maximum precision and positioning accuracy thanks to the use of a direct measuring system (glass scale). Linear drives use less mechanical parts than ballscrew axes reducing the influence of mechanical wear or thermal effects.

The new Fanuc control unit 18iTB significantly reduces processing times. The ultra fast calculation and processing operations lead to drastic time savings when processing macros, reading commands etc. – a major contribution to the reduction of cycle time.

The electronic handwheel enables fast and safe machine operation and prove-out of new programs. A PCMCIA card slot next to the monitor simplifies the reading in/out and storage of programs.

Simultaneous Machining

Features of the CNC control

CNC control (optional)

• Multi-axis CNC system for simultaneous or single tool machining

• Tool radius compensation• Deep drilling cycle• Constant surface speed• Insertion of chamfers and radii• Multiple repetitive cycles• Storage capacity 40m/16k• Spindle speed monitoring• Synchronization of main and sub-spindle• Sub-spindle/main spindle 1° indexing• Rotary tools, synchronous thread cutting• Background edit function• Electronic handwheel• Diagnosis function

• Tool life monitoring• Polygon turning function

Short part production times through simultaneous machining with two spindles and two tool holders. Different simultaneous machining cycles with up to 3 tools – like turning – drilling, roughing – finishing, turning and drilling at the front end combined with simultaneous drilling at the back end or milling – drilling can be realised.
