The debris in the region of the CPS has been excavated such that the CPS is ft-ee to rotate the canfstr.r bottoms at tlle 308'6" elevation. The Cleanup System (OWCS) is functioning with its four filter c<Jnisters instdllt> I fn the d('ep end of the fuel transftor ctlnal. On november 12, 1985, General Public Utilities lluclear (GPUIO Corporation receivi?d pcnnissfon from the URC onsite staff to lold the fu('l canisters with fuel debris. Using the vfse grip tool, the defueling placed into il fuel canister the first piece of debris, a broken piece of rod. On November 14, 1985, dc fueling workers picked ilnd placed the firs t piece of cndfitting into the canist2r. Difficulties w<?rc encountcd with Hhich fused together. Fused e ndfittings have to be separated in o rd&r to fit into fuel canisters. The licensee is cvaluilting methods to separi\te these fused «! ndfittings.
