NARRATOR• We are in Verona, in the north of

Italy. Once upon a time, there were two rich families who also were enemies: the Capuleto and the Montesco.

• At Juliet Capuleto’s house

JULIET• I’m so sad! I love Romeo Montesco

and I know my father won’t like him at all!

• What can I do?

NARRATOR• Her old servant promised to help

her

OLD SERVANT• Don’t cry, my lady. I think there is

a way in which you and your beloved can stay together

NARRATOR• The two lovers met under the

moonlight. They held their hands and embraced each other.

ROMEO• Oh, Juliet! I’ll always love you!

JULIET• Me too, Romeo. I want to be with

you all my life….

NARRATOR• But Juliet’s father saw everything

and he called Paris, his friend.

FATHER• Listen to me, Paris, my friend. I

want you to marry my daughter Juliet.

PARIS• I’m so pleased to hear that, old

friend!

NARRATOR• Some young servants heard the

news and told Romeo and Juliet about them.

YOUNG SERVANT 1

• Hurry up and do something! Juliet’s father wants Paris to marry her!

YOUNG SERVANT 2

• What?? Paris is going to marry Juliet?

NARRATOR• Meanwhile, Juliet was at her

window, waiting for Romeo.

JULIET• It’s almost midnight. I hope he

isn’t late!

NARRATOR• Romeo climbed very quickly and

entered through the window.

JULIET• You’re here my, love!

ROMEO• Yes, and I have something to

propose you. Would you marry me tomorrow?

NARRATOR• The old servant, who was spying,

listened to everything.

ROMEO• We’ll run away together.

JULIET• Of course, I will!

ROMEO• It must be a secret, you know…..

NARRATOR• Juliet was living the happiest

moment in her life.

JULIET• I can’t wait until tomorrow comes!!

ROMEO• See you tomorrow at midnight in

your garden. I’ll call brother Thomas to celebrate it.

JULIET• Good night, honey.

NARRATOR• At Paris’s bedroom…..

OLD SERVANT• Good night and good dreams! Are

you dreaming of Juliet, Paris?

PARIS• Mmmmm… Who dares to awake

me? You’d better have something important to tell!

OLD SERVANT• Of course, I have. Hide tomorrow

at midnight at Juliet’s garden.

PARIS• Is she meeting anyone before the

wedding? That won’t happen again!

NARRATOR• Romeo said goodbye to the three

friendly young servants.

YOUNG SERVANTS

• Good bye and good luck!

NARRATOR• At Capuleto’s house

FATHER• I’m so angry with you, Juliet!

JULIET• What have I done wrong, father?

FATHER• You’ve kissed a Montesco! I can’t

allow it in my life!

JULIET• But we love each other….

FATHER• No way! You are marrying Paris!!

NARRATOR• Juliet couldn’t stop crying.

JULIET• Oh, no!! How will I run away? My

father knows I love Romeo!

OLD SERVANT• Your snack is ready, my lady.

JULIET• Thanks! I think I still keep that

poison I found at my father’s drawer. The only thing I want is pour some drops in my chocolate. Give me some of that chocolate, please.

YOUNG SERVANT

• Be ready. Romeo will arrive soon.

ROMEO• Hello, my love! Wake up! Let’s go!

YOUNG SERVANT

• She can’t

ROMEO• Oh!!! She’s dead!! She’s killed

herself. I’ll drink, too.

YOUNG SERVANT

• Oh, no!! Now Romeo is dead, too!!

NARRATOR• Juliet’s mother came into her

bedroom.

MOTHER• What’s happened to my daughter?

YOUNG SERVANT

• We don’t know. She ate the chocolate of her snack.

YOUNG SERVANT

• We think it was poisoned because Romeo drank, too.

MOTHER• You knew they loved each other!

You forbade their love.

FATHER• But I didn’t think she would kill

herself! I’ll always feel guilty of these deaths!

NARRATOR• At least, they are together and

nobody will separate them in death.
