the confidence of a 6yr. old”.

Quilters’ Sew-ciety General Announcements

Susan Lommen: Our July meeting will be JULY 8. This is our annual salad supper

and combined day and evening meeting. A-O will bring salads to serve 8 people. P- Z

will bring desserts to server 12. The salad supper will take place at Evangel Method-

ist Church (where we currently meet monthly) in the basement in the Gymnasium. You may also rent an

8ft. table for $5 for the “garage sale”. We will need volunteers for setup and takedown. Also, UFO pro-

jects will be shared in June and December.

Judy Plank: Just a reminder that QS has a board meeting on June 3rd and 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm.

Rita Radil and Gloria Bahr: thanked all 44 Guild members for attending the Spring Annual Retreat at

Eagle Bluff. Feedback and suggestions were appreciated. If you have not given your feedback and

would like to do so, please send an email to Rita or Gloria. Rita and Gloria will be following up with Eagle

Bluff and giving them the feedback regarding the meals, etc. Within the week, there will be more pictures

placed on the QS Facebook of the retreat. When going through your stash of quilt rulers and you find

some you no longer want to keep, please consider donating them to Rita and/or Gloria for use at the re-

treats. We have 4 cutting tables (2 on each level) and the rulers will be divided between these tables for

use during these events. The most popular rulers are the 6x24" sizes and we could use 4 of this particu-

lar size. Before purchasing these items, we first want to reach out to Guild members.

Spelling Bee by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet: Quilts have always spoken to us through their beauty and design and we quilters have the unique ability to express ourselves with needle and thread. We share feelings and sentiments through our choice of fabrics, colors, shapes and techniques, but in these quilts, she loves adding words and pictures for the extra detail and clarity it adds to the message. With Spelling Bee, you have the freedom to say whatever you want through your quilts, whether it be a personal motto, a beloved poem, a meaningful song lyric or a commemora-tive date. Make special quilts for all sorts of occasions—birthdays, holidays, weddings and more!

Check this out and try some of the patterns—you could even donate them to the small quilt auctions for the two upcoming quilt shows.

UFO Projects for 2019

A UFO is defined as a quilt project begun at least one year ago that is not yet completely finished. We en-

courage you to complete some of your unfinished projects—quilts, table runners, purses, wall hangings, etc.

Whether you ran out of time, didn’t have the right materials, or just lost interest in the project, unfinished pro-

jects pile up quickly. Make a resolution this year to clean up some of your unfinished projects. Share them

with the guild and have a chance to win a prize.

This year we will be doing the UFO challenge twice; June and December. You do not have to fill out any

forms for your UFO projects. Bring one or more UFO projects you have completed and share them with the

Guild. Your name will then go into a drawing – once for each project you bring in – 2 names will be drawn to

win a wonderful prize.

Copies regarding the June and December UFO’s will be placed on the counter in the hallway for you

to pick up to refer to through the year.
