Greetings All! We are fast approaching the Christmas holidays and with them come a variety of holiday traditions. QS is no exception to having treasured traditions. The suggestion was made that ladies new to QS might like to know about these traditions as well some information about the joint December meeting. Fat Quarter Frenzy - FQF is a new tradition that was started last year as a fun way to share and obtain fabric while at the same time supporting QS. It was decided to hold this at both our July and December meetings. Half of the QS members are encouraged to bring a Fat Quarter while the other half bring treats to share. Each fat quarter brought in is given a number and a bag. QS Members can purchase "raffle" tickets for 25 cents each, choose the FQ they desire and then place their ticket(s) into the FQ bag(s) desired. You can put all your tickets in one bag or spread your tickets around. The winning ticket is drawn from each FQ bag to find out who gets to take home a new FQ for their stash. Christmas Ornament Exchange - The ornament exchange is a well-established QS tradition for the joint December meeting and is often paired with a Christmas Block exchange. This year we will do just be doing the Ornament Exchange. QS Members who choose to participate can bring a handmade ornament - their choice but please have it be homemade. Bring that ornament to the December meeting. Each participating ornament will be given a number. A drawing will be done so that each of the participants will go home with a new Christmas ornament - a great QS keepsake. Christmas Treats - Hospitality is in charge of the food at our holiday festivities so that QS member can enjoy an informal social time. Half of the QS membership is asked to bring finger food/treats to share as part of the December festivities. Please bring this in a disposable container. Hospitality will provide beverages. Come and share in the QS traditions as we celebrate this season together. Happy quilting. Sue Zahasky 2015 QS President

Sources of Inspiration:

When you can’t figure something out, try to imagine and practice what pioneer women would have done, like folding paper bags for patterns or using dishes for quilting designs to make good circles.

2015 Quilt Show News

We have received some thank you notes from the QS Show:

1. Thank you for donating and making your quilt show a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed it. My cousin

won some fabric as a door prize. Your display was a beautiful selection of quilts. I belong to the Sheboygan

County Quilters in Wisconsin. Our show was in September. Sincerely Verda Otten.

2. Thank you so much for the donation to the door prizes at the Rochester Quilters Sew-ciety. I was lucky enough

to win and chose Berties Year and can't wait to complete it! Thanks again. Sincerely, Jane Schmidt.

3. Thank you so much for donating to the Quilters Sew-ciety Quilt Show. I was lucky and won a door prize

containing the cute snail measuring tape and a 3.5" small paths template. I have always wanted to try circle blocks

so I am looking forward to using the templates. Thanks again. Linda Edd

4. I was one of the winners of the raffle prize during the quilt show. There were so many nice prizes to choose

from that it was difficult to choose. I enjoyed the quilt show very much and appreciated all the hard work and talent

of the quilters. Geri

5. I never win - so to actually hear my number called I could not believe it! Thank you for the wonderful array of

sewing tools and accessories. The quilt ruler wooden holders, bobbin ring, scissors, are all great. I also won on

Saturday and there I picked out an OleyValley Primitives "Penny Rug Pattern" kit. I have wanted to try something

in wool-so hope to make his kit into a "Welcome" wall hanging for my entry. This was my first Quilter's show that

I have been involved with and it was so much fun. Thank you. Donna Prosch

6. Thank you so much for the great door prizes. I won a box of thread and a collection of batting, patterns, and

notions. Thanks for a great show. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next one. Marie Wilson.

And a personal note to the members: I personally want to thank each of you, the members of the Quilt Sew-ciety, for all the wonderful donations you

contributed to the door prizes for this year's Quilt Show. We had over 115 door prizes between businesses and

your donations. Also thank you to all of you that was willing to volunteer to help at the prize table. It was so much

fun to see smile on the faces of the winners at this year's event. Rita Radil, Chair of Door Prizes.
