Design a Tiny House

Create  a  blueprint   of  the  floor  plan  of  your  dream  house.You  may  want  to  use  the  grid  paper  in  this  packet  to  help  you.

• Give  your  house   at  least  five  rooms.• Be  creative!  You  can  include  rooms  that  are  not  in  your  real  house,   like  a  game  room  or  a  bedroom  for  your  pet!

• Label  each  room.• Find   the  area  and  perimeter  of  each  room.  (one  unit  on  the  paper  =  one  foot)

Color Walkers

Materials:

Five  small,  clear,  plastic  cups  (or  other  small  clear  containers)Food  color  (red,  yellow,  blue)10  to  12  paper  towelsWater

Steps:

1. Place  the  cups   in  a  line  on  a  flat  surface.2. Fill  cups  1,  3  and  5  to  one  inch  below  the  top.3. Fill  cups  2  and  4  about  half  way  to  the  top.4. Add  red  food  color  to  cup  1.  About   5  drops.5. Add  yellow  food  color  to  cup  3.  About  8  drops.6. Add  blue  food  color  to  cup  5.  About  5  drops.7. Separate  the  paper  towels.8. Roll  each  paper  towel  into  a  long  tube  shape.9. Put  one  end  of  one  paper  towel  in  cup  1  and  the  other  end  in  cup  2.  Using  another  paper  towel  put  one  

end  of  the  paper  towel   in  cup2  and  the  other  end  in  cup  3.  Continue  this  for  cups  3  and  4  and  then  for  cups  4  and  5.  (Extra  paper  towels  are  for  the  messes  we  make!)

10. Let  the  cups  sit  and  you  can  watch  the  colors  walk!

Add  1  teaspoon  of  sugar  to  another  container.    Mix  well.6. Add  1  teaspoon  of  baking  soda  to  another  container.    Mix  well.7. Add  one  small  toy  to  each  container.8. Charades Journaling

Think  about  how  you  can  tell  if  someone   is  happy,  mad,  or  scared  without  them  even  having  to  talk.  Gather  your  family  members  to  play  charades  with  emotion  words!

1. Write  down  a  list  of  emotion  words.  Try  to  have  the  same  number  of  enjoyable   feelings  (like  happy  and  excited)  as  uncomfortable  feelings  (like  frustrated  and  confused)

2. Choose   a  word  from  the  list.  Act  your  feeling  word  out  using  facial  expressions   and  body   language,  without  talking,  while  the  other  people  guess  your  word.

3. When  your  word  is  correctly  identified,  make  a  check  mark  next  to  it  on  the  list.

4. The  person  who  guesses  correctly  gets  to  take  the  next  turn.

5. Continue  until  all  of  the  words  on  your  list  are  used.
