CAPITAL TRAIL MAP 2014

CRAFT BEER

CAPITAL TRAIL MAP 2014

WElcome To THE

CRAFT BEER

CAPITAL your official guide

WElcome To THE

CRAFT BEER

CAPITAL your official guide

A lovely harbour, Lord of the Rings, the seat of

Government, blows like hell; we know all that,

but what really excites us about Wellington is

its reputation as one of the world’s great craft

beer appreciation spots.

As a tightly-knit enclave of creative types, musicians,

software nerds, fully-empowered women and godless

liberals, Wellington has always been a city of early

adopters. Most kiwi gustatory trends get their start

here and craft beer wasted no time getting onto the

launch pad. So if you were looking for the Portland,

Oregon of the South Pacifi c, you’ve found it.

As well as the sixteen bars and four bottle stores you’ll

fi nd on this map, there are eight actual breweries in

operation, seven of which didn’t even exist four years

ago. Twenty percent of the beer that’s sold on tap in

Wellington is craft beer. That’s like saying that twenty

percent of records sold in Wellington are by The Velvet

Underground. (They’re not unfortunately, we checked.)

Wellingtonians have an unrivalled passion for great beer

and in this town you’re never more than a short walk

away from an awesome bar to pour you a pint or two.

We’ve divided the Capital up into two trails - North

and South - both of which can be tackled for the most

part on foot. For longer hops (excuse the pun) there

are always handy buses to make things a lot easier.

If you manage to complete one or both trails, you’ll

be able to carry prizes of genuine Craft Beer Capital

merchandise home in triumph.

Enjoy the craft beer, enjoy the hospitality and be sure to

drink sensibly and stay safe - Cheers!
