“After completing my school inNew Delhi, the first thing onmy mind was to find aninstitution that would enhancemy future career prospects by providing a practical andinnovative learning experience. For me, the most essential

things were the standing of the university on a global level andthe rank of the business school. It didn’t take me long to zero inon Queen Mary.

“My first year at Queen Mary has been a fantastic experience. The Business School has totally proved the worth of its highrankings. I have found the modules highly innovative andintriguing. In one of my modules, for example, I learnt aboutglobal business situations not only from a textbook and lecturesbut by watching Hollywood movies. This might sound a bitabsurd at first glance, but after going through the wholeprocess, I realised that it’s an extremely practical and intelligentway of learning business.

“All the teachers are highly supportive and try their level best to elucidate a particular topic, whether with the help of visualgadgets, in lectures or through extensive discussion in smallseminar groups.

“Apart from the academic front, Queen Mary also has a verystrong social culture. I joined the Hindu Society and theBusiness Society, which helped me to socialise with businessstudents from other years and stay in touch with my culturewhile I’m away from home.”

STUDENT PROFILEGina SarranBusiness and Management

“I chose Queen Mary because of its good reputation. It is alsolocal to where I live and I loved the vibrant student community.

“My programme gives a good choice of modules, so we get ataste of all areas of business and management from lots ofdifferent perspectives. One of the most interesting modules wasInnovation and Entrepreneurship – we had the opportunity todesign a product or service, write a business plan and also attendvery informative lectures, including talks from entrepreneurs.

“I am a photographer and Queen Mary has helped me to improve my skills and inspire others as I help run the Photography Society. I am also a member of the Hindu Society and attend many oftheir events.

“After I have completed my degree at Queen Mary, I aim to secure an accounting trainee positionso that I can continue to learn the subject I love and also build up experience in my desiredcareer as a forensic accountant.”

Queen Mary’s main campus is inMile End (travel zone 2), and iswell connected to the rest of thecity by tube. Oxford Street is only15 minutes away, while theOlympic Park and Europe’s largesturban shopping centre, WestfieldStratford City are just one tubestop from Mile End. The campusis a short walk from lively BrickLane and Shoreditch, and close tothe City and Canary Wharf, hometo some of the biggest names infinance and business.
