1. IntroductionThank you forpurchasingQubeVu Industrial. This documentdescribeshow to setupQubeVu for thefirsttime.

QubeVu is designed to capturedimensions, barcodes and images of itemsplacedunder the scanninghead.Parcels(boxes),flats,documentsandirregularshapescanbesupported.

2. ConceptsOfOperationYour company’s QubeVu Administrator will have configured QubeVu for your environment. As anoperatoritisimportantforyoutobeawareofafewconcepts.

2.1. MeasurementWhenQubeVureportsdimensionsofanitem,itdefinesLength,WidthandHeightas:

• Length=thelongerofthetwohorizontalmeasurements• Width=theshorterofthetwohorizontalmeasurements• Height=Verticalmeasurement

2.2. ItemPlacementWhen placing an itemunder the scanning head, you do not need toworry about exactlywhere it isplaced.Ingeneral,youcanplaceanitemanywhereunderthescanningheadanditcanbestraightoratanangle.Bestresultswillbeobtainediftheitemisplacedascentrallyaspossibleunderthescanninghead.

2.2.1 ImagingArea

Themaximumsizeofanitemtobedimensionedvariesduetothecamera’sfieldofview

TheZoneofInterestrepresentstheareatobeusedforthedetectionofanitemtobedimensioned.

2.2.3 WorkArea

TheWorkArea represents theareaaround theQubeVubaseused fordetectingmotion.QubeVuwillwaituntilthereisnomotiondetectedbeforeattemptingtoscananitem.

WorkAreaalsoprovidesamaximumareaforthedetectionofflats(items<5cm)howeverhowflatsarepositionedwithintheworkareaisslightlydifferentthanforparcels.

Remember:ThebelowdiagramisforFlatsonly.Parcelswillbedimensionedevenifpartoftheitemisoutsideoftheworkarea.

2.3. QubeVuInYourEnvironment

2.3.1 Lighting

QubeVuisdesignedtoworkinmostlocationswithouthavingtouseadditionallighting.Forbestresultsin barcode scanning and imaging, the LUX value at the center of the scanning area should be 300orhigher.Ifyouarecapturingonlydimensions,lowlightingisnotafactor.

In somecases, the imagemayappearunderoroverexposed. Use the“ImageQuality” configurationtoolsinQubeVuManagertoadjustexposuresettings.Alternatively,seeyourQubeVuAdministratororcallPosteaCustomerSupportifyouneedmoreinformation.

2.3.2 MeasuringPlatform

For best results in capturing dimensions, if not using a belt conveyor system it is recommended thatQubeVuispositionedoveradarkcoloredtable/scaleplaten.Ifthetable/scaleplatenisnotadarkcolor,itisrecommendedthatanon-glossyblackmatisusedtocoverthescanningarea.

Whenusingascale,theplatenshouldbeblackforbestresults.

2.3.3 ScalePlacement

Ifyouareusingascale,itshouldbecentrallybeneaththelensoftheQubeVuunit.Duringoperations,your scale could move, so it is recommended that operators check the position of the scale beforestartingworkfortheday.

3. IrregularShapesIf your QubeVu Administrator has enabled your QubeVu to recognize irregular shapes, then bothrectangularshapesandirregularshapeswillbedimensioned.

4. ModesOfOperation

4.1. AutomaticVersusManualOperationQubeVuwillhavebeenconfiguredtorun inAutomaticorManualmode. Theunit’sconfigurationwilldependupontherequirementsandimplementationofyourcompany’sapplication.

4.1.1 AutomaticOperation

WhenQubeVuisconfiguredinAutomaticmode,ascanoftheitemwillstartafterQubeVuhasdetectedthatallmotionhasstoppedunderthescanninghead. AsyouplacetheitemonthescaleorthebaseplateitisOKtore-positiontheitem,butbeawarethatQubeVuwillnotbegintoscanuntilthatmotionhasstopped.

Besuretomoveyourhandsawayfromthescanningarea.Ifyouareholdingthepackageinposition,orotherwise have your hand in the scanning area, there is a chance that QubeVu will include yourhand/armaspartofthedimensions,resultinginincorrectresults.

4.1.2 ManualOperation

Ifyourapplicationwas implementedformanualoperation,motiondetectionhasbeenturnedoff. Inthiscase,theremayabuttononthescreentoselecttostartscanning,or,abarcodescanmayinitiatetheQubeVuscan.

As with automatic operations, be sure to keep your hands away from the scanning area to avoidincorrectdimensioning.

4.2. OperatingWithAScaleWhenoperatingQubeVuwithascale,followthescalemanufacturer’sinstructionsforproperoperationofthescale.

• Setthescaleunittometricorimperial• Ensurethescaleisreadingzero,andsettled,beforeplacinganitem• Afterplacinganitemonthescaletheweightreadingmustsettle

4.3. OperatingWithoutAScaleWhenoperatingQubeVuwithouta scale, flats arenot supportedwithout theuseof theDisk Findersfeature.ContactyourPostearepresentativeforfurtherinformation.

4.4. OperatingQubeVuwithaConveyorQubeVuisalsoabletoscanitemswhilemountedoveraconveyor,howeverthereareafewoperationalnotes:

• TheitemmuststopunderthescanningheadwhileQubeVucapturesdimensions,barcodesandimages.

• Forbestresultsuseabeltconveyor• Itemsshouldbepositionedunderthescanningheadoneitematatime;besuretheitemsare

nottooclosetogether,orbothitemsmayincorrectlybescannedtogether.• Itisrecommendedthatitemsarespacedabout10cmapart,andthereshouldnotbemorethan

1iteminthezoneofinterest.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1. QubeVuIsNotRespondingIfQubeVuisnotrespondingatall

• Checkthatthepowercableisconnectedtosecurely,andthatthecableisproperlypluggedintoapoweroutlet.

• Makesurethatalllightsareon.Thereare3ontherearpanelofQVI,3ontheQVWSelectricalbaseand1ontheQVDS&QVDS-XLscanhead.

Ifpowerisconnectedandalllightsareon,youmayneedtorestartyourapplication.

Finally,ifrestartingtheapplicationdoesnotresolvetheproblem,powercycleQUBEVU.

• Removethepowercablefor3seconds;thenreplace.• Waituntilthegreenlight(s)arebackon.• Restartyourapplication.

Ifneitheroftheseactionsissuccessful,contactCustomerSupportforadditionalhelp.

5.2. TheHighResolutionImageIsAllBlackOnQVWS&QVImodels, if the image isallblack, it is likely that the lenscapwas leftonthecamera.Lookatthebottomofthescanningheadandremovethecap.

5.3. ImagesCapturedKeepsShowingMyArmBesuretomoveyourhandsawayfromthescanningareaafterplacinganitem.Ifyouarestillhavingproblems,askyourQubeVuAdministrator to review theconfiguration settings for “LockMotion”and“MotionDown”.RefertotheQubeVuManagerReferenceGuideformoreinformation.

5.4. SomeItemsDoNotTriggerAutomaticCapture• Ifyouareoperatingwithascale,makesurethescaleisregisteringastableweightfortheitem.• Ifyouareoperatingwithoutscale,iftheitemis<35mmhigh,itcannotbedimensionedwithout

usingtheDiskFinderfeature.• IfyouaremeasuringirregularshapeensureIrregularShapesupportisenabled.

5.5. BarcodesAreNotBeingReadNOTE:BarcoderecognitionisnotavailableinQVDS&QVDS-XL.

• Makesurethattheitemwasplacedunderthescanningheadwiththebarcodevisibleontop,andthatthebarcodeiswithintheimagingarea.

• Confirmthatthetypeofbarcodeyouarescanningissupportedbythesystem.AlistofsupportedbarcodesisincludedintheQubeVuManagerGuide,availableatwww.postea.com/downloads.

• ConfirmthatyourQubeVuAdministratorhasdefinedthe“CaptureDefinition”foryourapplicationthatincludesthetypeofbarcodeyouaretryingtoscan.
