feedback?

October

In October for our target audience research we had a focus group with a small group of six people of the correct age to ask them some questions.

Page 3: Q3 evaluation finished

During the focus group we explained to the group the outline of the narrative we were trying to create. After we had explained the

narrative we then asked to group some questions for example “Do you understand the narrative?”, “Do you feel although the video is offensive to men?”, “Which part of the narrative do you think we should focus

on the most? The past, her now she has moved on, or how the couple act together now?” Asking open questions proved very

useful due to the group being able to feedback their ideas about the video to us, which lead us to more ideas helping with

the development of the video.

From the focus group answers it became clear that they liked the idea of domestic abuse as it is a very big problem in society, however they made it very clear to us that it had to be done

in a tasteful way. The biggest problem we believed we had was not offending males due

to showing a male being abusive to this girlfriend. We got around this problem by

showing some memories of the couple when they were happy and applying Strauss’ theory

of black is a symbol of bad and white’s connotations are good, so having the male

character seen in the video wearing black and white showing that he isn't all bad.

November

In November we conducted some research on how our target audience consumed music and music video so we could see for our product

where would be the best place to launch it. We decided for this bit of research we will hand out paper surveys to the people of the target audience and then collect them in to analyse

the singing.

We asked five questions on the questionnaire.Question 1) How do you consume music video’s?Music channels=7

Youtube= 1Social Media=3Other (please specify what)=1 Spotify

From this question we established that people mainly consume music video's through 'Youtube'. This statistic did not really surprise me as I am the same as as our target audience and through youtube is the way I mainly consume music video's. This question has given us a good insight in to how our video would get watched by the public.

Question 2) Do you listen to a lot of music?

Yes=20No=0

We gained positive feedback from question number two as all 20 people we asked to complete our handout said that they listen to music lots which is the best result we could of had for this question.

Question 3) How do you mostly listen to your music?Soundcloud=2Youtube=7Playtube=3Spotify=7Apple Music=1Itunes=2Radio=1CD=2From question 3 asking how people mostly listen to music the majority of the results were youtube, however Spotify was another popular answer. I believe this as Youtube is software that you tend to watch on a computer or phone when you want to watch a music video not to just listen to music. Whereas Spotify can be used on the go via a phone, also Spotify have lots of deals to entice people in to become premium member so they can listen to music without wifi or internet connection which you can't do when your not premium, which is appealing to our target audience by having student deals.

Question 4) Do you ever download music?If so where from?No=5

Itunes=6Itube=3Apple Music=1Spotify=3Amazon Prime=1Youtube Converter=1From this question we discovered that the most music downloaded was downloaded through iTunes, which is a positive answer as it means they are officially downloading it not illegally. However the next highest answer was 'no' meaning that they don't download music, I personally believe this is due to people mainly listening to music on Youtube and Spotify and there is no need to download it as they can listen to it for free anyway without having to illegally download it.

Question 5) Do you ever buy CD’s?Yes=5No=11Rarely=4One major surprise we have found from our target audience research is that 11 out of the 20 people asked never buy CDs and only 4 rarely buy them. For us this is a worrying statistic as we are trying to launch our star Sophia via a CD and digipak to this age group. To resolve this problem I believe we need to complete some more target audience research to investigate why people don't buy CD's anymore and to see if there is anything in particular that would make them buy a CD e.g a unique selling point that we could investigate doing for our digipak.

Flickr researchThroughout the process of making our ancillaries we posted drafts and pictures onto Flickr for feedback from our target audience.

Using Flickr was really effective as people helped up in our decision making process to which photos we wanted to put where.
