Production & Distribution Companies

Initially we were going to go for a well known production company such as Warner Brothers or Universal Studios but because we had decided that our thriller film was going to be a low budget movie it wouldn’t make sense if we had bigger companies producing and distributing it. So later we decided on making our own to make it more realistic.

The production company we chose for our thriller movie ‘Code Red’ is CANDI Studios.

The distribution company we chose is Redline Pictures.

Information on both companies

CANDI Studios and Redline Pictures are both small scale independent companies. We used the standard college ident for the production company as we thought it would make it more independent to the college and give off the effect that it is supposed to be a small company. We created our own distribution company and ident ‘Redline Pictures’ by just using a simple animation over the text to make it look professional yet not too grand to look like a big branded company.

Suitability

We think that a company such as ‘Redline Pictures’ would be best suited to distribute our movie as it is meant to be a small independent company. As our film is thought to be a low budget film and contain gritty content, it would be unrealistic to use big companies such as Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures or Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as our distribution company as they wouldn’t really distribute independent films in real life.

Distribution companies such as the ones listed before are known for distributing films like Skyfall, Panic Room, Limitless, Collateral, Zero Dark Thirty etc.

Relating to the Audience

I think that using these companies would be able to relate to an audience because smaller companies rely more on online advertisement and other social networking distribution methods such as Facebook, Twitter etc. This would bring in a younger crowd to watch the film. The grittiness of the film alone would attract an older audience.
