PROJECT AND PROBLEM BASED LEARNINGProject and Problem Based Learning develops skills necessary for success in a rapidly changing world, including teamwork, problem-solving, communication and independent learning. Students complete projects with real-world connections while satisfying rigorous subject standards. Their learning is deeper and more substantial when applied to problems which engage and challenge them. Students at higher ability levels collaborate in teams and pursue challenging projects with high quality outcomes.

CHALLENGE IN A DAYAs part of Year 7 students are involved in the Challenge in a Day program across a number of subjects. In Film in a Day they create a script, rehearse scenes, develop costumes and props and shoot their film. While having lots of fun, Year 7s can also achieve amazing learning outcomes in these Challenges.

SOCCER ACADEMYThe Emmanuel College Soccer Academy provides students with the opportunity to develop their technical skills and leadership qualities. Through the program, students’ connection to the wider community is reinforced. As ambassadors for the College, the students take on the role of coach and work with primary students from schools in our region. ANZAC DAY CELEBRATIONSDuring times of greatest need and crisis our faith becomes very important. Our students learn to make sense of their spiritual journey by recognising and reflecting on significant world events and the hardships endured by those who have been involved in war or conflict. Our annual ANZAC Day celebrations invite special guests including past and retired chaplains to share their experiences with students and help them make spiritual links to the event through story telling ‘visuals’, liturgies, and reflection.

MORE THAN JUST A COMMEMORATION, BUT A CELEBRATION OF SACRIFICE BY THE INDIVIDUAL FOR THE WHOLE”Belinda, Year 9 Student

We aim to build both their awareness of the challenges for justice in our world and the capacity to make a difference.

I THINK ITS IMPORTANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. IT’S GREAT THAT THE COLLEGE GIVES US OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE TO SOMEONE’S LIFE.”Michael, Year 11 Student

PARENT CONNECTIONSParent Connections THE GROWTH AND FLOURISHING OF STUDENTS IS BEST ACHIEVED THROUGH A STRONG PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS, THE FIRST EDUCATORS OF THEIR CHILD. We engage with parents in a range of ways with regard to decisions concerning their child’s education. Good communication is essential as we work together to build strong, warm relationships with the young people in our care and establish strong expectations regarding them being their best.

I FEEL VERY WELL INFORMED ABOUT HOW MY CHILDREN ARE DOING. I GET A LOT OUT OF PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS AND THE PARENT ACCESS MODULE.”Liz, Parent
