EXPECTED RESULTS PURPOSE KACHALÙ COFFEE: SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION FOR DEVELOPMENT COLOMBIA - Location Santander, Kachalù Description Educate a new generation of coffee growers. Participation methods with involvement from various sectors in the community (children, youth, parents, teachers, etc.) generates a sense of ownership, responsibility, collaboration, and commitment to the decision-making process in their own development. • Provide nutritious school meals. This initial step is important for the continuous development and the strengthening of strong bonds in the community. Additionally, it will reduce malnutrition by including projects that promote healthy eating and nutritious food. Long-term: New generation of coffee growers trained on best practices for sustainable production and better management skills. A real bond created between partners and solid link established between sustainable production and consumption throughout the entire coffee supply chain. Generate a change in rural education programs for coffee growing regions. • Provide appropriate infrastructure: computer lab and dining hall. • Children will acquire key technical knowledge on coffee production and the needed skills to manage their business. • Teach basic bilingual education (Spanish-English); training on the use of computers and food safety. TARGET GROUP 1) School Girls and boys from four different areas in the municipality. 73 students I 61 students from neighboring schools will participate in exchange programs with the El Bosque school (four teachers and 270 families) 2) Business Management Workshops 65 coffee producers
