Showcasing that DMC SHRIM students are indeed better trained; the always-on-the-go department cel-ebrated their 4th SHRIM days last March 8 – 9, 2013. Uplifting the ever en-ergetic students, the event was jumpstarted by a thanks-giving mass held at the St. La Salle Function Hall graced by Fr. Beltran Patangan. Then it was followed by a yearly tradition – class pictorial. The whole depart-ment was divided fairly into three (3) competitive teams – Pink Shockwaves, Purple Tsunami and Red Hurricane. The afternoon started with competitions that show-cased the skills of the students – bedmaking, wine service, table skirting and napkin fold-ing. Emerging victorious in the competitions are as follows: For the bedmaking, with the mini-mal time to perform the ser-vice was from the Pink Shock-waves. They also won 1st for the Wine Service. The 1st place for the Table Skirting category is the Red Hurricane while the Purple Tsunami won 1st place for the Napkin Folding. The highlight compe-

For the first time ever, DMC College Foundation, a La Salle supervised institution cater-ing hundreds of students all over Zamboanga Peninsula, will open her gates this March 2, 2013 with fun-filled ac-tivities and surprises dubbed as the “DMC Open House.”Expected to come and partici-pate are High School students around the region and even the neighboring province of Zam-boanga Sibugay. During the school campaign period where all high schools were reached to encourage the youth to choose DMC as one of their ca-reer choices for their future, the DMC Marketing Team invited and announced the said Open House enticing the hopes of the future generation to visit the La Salle institution for a day of career guidance pro-grams. The program however, does not limit the students alone to come, as their parents, teachers and friends could join and participate such event.Activities in-line for the par-ticipants are programs that will help them know better the ca-reer path they want as to better decide on which track to fol-low. their talents on three differ-ent categories – Retro dance, Mama mia impersonation and Lyrical Hiphop dance. Cham-pions for each category were: Retro Dance champion is the School of HRIM, Champion for the Mama mia impersona-tion and for the Lyrical Hiphop is the Science High School.

The days were filled with various artistic competi-tions such as bulletin board making contest, poster and slogan making contest, pho-to contest, face painting, and blind-folded make-up contest. There were also other com-petitions that allowed DM-Cians to enjoy Larong Pinoy. The third night was the

most awaited one. The search for Miss DMC 2012 occurred and from ten gorgeous ladies, one woman outstood and she is Ms. Vanessa Fe Andaio (HRIM IV).

Fights for champion-ship happened the next day.

And during that night, the closing and awarding ceremo-ny took place wherein the Sci-ence High School was declared as the over-all champion.

The night was ended with laughs as the school’s

treat. Giving smiles and non-stop laughter to the audience were invited comedy duo from Boracay Filipino night club- Dubai and 22nd Avenue Stars featuring the pride of DMC – Progeny of Euterpe.

tition of the 1st day started at around 4o’clock wherein three teams with three members coming from the first to the third year level fought for one title – DMC Master chef 2013. The atmosphere was filled with thrill as the young chefs started to cook their dishes from ap-petizers to main course to des-serts given only one hour and thirty minutes to cook it all.

While the competition was ongoing, another compe-tition took place in terms of showcasing the talents of the students in terms of dancing and/or singing – the Inter-mission number competition. Teams cheered and yelled as their teammates hit the dance floor to groove and move. The winners were im-mediately proclaimed after the

judges tasted the dishes. The champion for the dance com-petition was the Red Hurricane. And emerging as the champions for the DMC Mas-ter chef are from the Pink Shockwaves – Justine Alday (3rd year), Leonil Jay Murro (2nd year), and Jay-ar Animos (1st year) with their coach Mr. Robert Michael Buchholz, NFS and Kumbira gold medalist.

And the announcement sig-nified the end of the first day. The next day started at around 9o’clock in the morn-ing where students gathered to witness another exciting and thrilling competition – the Star of the Bar 2013. The ideal for this year’s compe-tition is that each team has two contestants but will per-form flair routines alone. Proclaimed as the Star of the Bar 2013 is Nestli-egh Calog (1st year) trained by Mr. Anthony Samson and Mr. Klent Cabahug. The celebration ended with an alluring night of glam-our and bow as the SHRIM stu-dents dressed themselves aston-ishingly in elegant gowns and suits. Special awards were also given to those who outstood in the said gathering. To officially mark the celebration, a tribute the graduating class was given by the department through a video presentation, song num-ber and tokens as a farewell. The night ended with spirits high and en-thusiasm. Proclaimed as the over-all champion for the SHRIM Days celebra-tion is the Pink Shockwaves.

Crowd cheering, people applauding – those two different nights that changed the life of two different individuals in the field of beauty. Embracing the African tradition, a woman’s life changed last August 25, 2012 in the annual search for MISS DMC 2012 during the school’s foundation day. Ten elegant and beautiful women from different teams com-peted for one crown during that amazing night. The whole city wit-nessed an astounding rivalry as the beauties ramped in four (4) dif-ferent categories – the traditional African costume, school uniform, swim wear and the chic evening gown. It became more thrilling when the magic five were announced. Standing out from the crowd and proclaimed as DMC’s

Anchored on the theme, “Fortifying the DM-Cian Family through La Sallian Spirituality,” the first of its kind, was successfully attended by a number of families whose chil-dren belong to the DMC com-munity enrolled and studying for their better career path in the future. Uniting all colleges and schools of DMC College Foundation, the congress be-came an avenue for the parents to know more, be oriented and get acquainted with DMC’s rules and regulations so as to guide their children in their day-to-day routines. The said congress also allowed the par-ents to check on their children’s performances and their studies in the higher education arena as college instructors and co-ordinators were present during such event. Above all, the par-ents’ approach to the rapport between them and their chil-dren was highlighted as talks by respected personalities in their fields, group dynamics and ac-tivities involving the families, and a series of performances and presentations were culti-vated and harnessed to shape the relationship between them.

The Guidance office be-lieves that the parents are the partners of the school for the growth and development of their children while studying. While the school establishes a clear and consistent relation-ship between her and her part-ners, the parents also lay trust

and confidence over the school that it could provide better ed-ucation to their children study-ing in DMC and struggling for years to earn a degree. The stu-dents, on the other hand, be-come positively certain about their future as they are assured of the support their parents

would give them and the kind of education DMC could pro-vide. Thus, the Guidance office considers that it is but fitting and proper to form and or-ganize such event. Meanwhile, the misconception about the Guidance office’s functions (like being referred to as “Dis-ciplinary court” of the students’

pathetically-declined behav-iour) is revisited and cleared.

The program started with an Invocation, National Anthem, DMCian and La Sal-lian Hymns all led by the Prog-eny of Euterpe, a Performing Arts club of the college, and

was followed by the Opening Remarks of Mr. Val Richtoffin Concha, the Executive Assis-tant of VP for Students, Exter-nal Affairs & Linkages (SEAL). Other student presentations were also given by another Performing Arts group, Teatro Likas Likha, the Working Stu-dents, for the first time, and selected HRM Students. The Orientation was given by Mrs. Pilar Cruz, the co-chairperson. A talk on “How to better sup-port your child in his/her aca-demic life” was given by no less than Mrs. Dolor Felisilda, a Guidance Counselor of Zam-boanga del Norte. The Group Dynamics and Team-building activities were also given to further enhance the skills and relationship of the parents to-wards their children and other

families. An Open forum was also opened to further discuss matters on families and famil-ial affairs with each other. The program was closed by Dr. Grace Gurdiel, the Dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences. The program was emceed by Mr. Mark Jas-per Cielo and Ms. Dara Mae Velasco. The other committees for the successful organiza-tion of the event were: Mr. CJ Herrera for Design/ Techni-cal, Mr. Joshua Eleazar Domen and 1st year HRM students for Group Dynamics, Mr. Jan Santos for the Video presenta-tion, Mr. Ramil Quirong and the SAO United Volunteers (SUV) for the Registration and Documentation, and the different deans and coordina-tors for the Communications.

The DMC College Foundation School of HRIM (SHRIM) brought home Mind-anao’s first gold medal in the National Food Showdown 2012 – Chef Wars - Student Category. Festival last August 2012 rep-resented the entire Mindanao last Saturday, 24 August 2012 competing with University of Baguio (Luzon), Asian Col-lege of Science and Technology (NCR), and Philippine School of Culinary Arts (Visayas).

“It has been a great year for us at DMC School of HRIM. We are immensely proud to share this victory with the people of Zanorte, the City of Dipolog and all of Mind-

anao. It is time to change the perspective that the schools in the bigger cities in the country always dominate competitions. We are as good if not bet-ter than them. DMC SHRIM has set the benchmark- a gold standard in HRM education here in the region. This proves more than ever that our stu-dents are truly better trained” said Atty. Diana Concha, Dean of DMC’s School of HRIM.

DMC SHRIM’s Chef Warriors were Fitz Myra D. Aranas, Prince Crisostomo and Robert Michael Buchholz, Jr. Describing how it was to com-pete in a much bigger arena, Buchholz said: “Competing in the National Food Showdown was a life-changing experi-ence. More than being a great achievement for our school and for ourselves, our goal for the gold was to educate the rest of the Philippines about Mindan-ao.” After the chef judges grad-ed the dishes a debriefing was held and the according to Buch-holz their team was told by the judges that they were educated

on the unique flavors of Mind-anao through the dishes they presented and that they rep-resented Mindanao very well.

Judges included top names in the Philippine cu-linary scene: Glenda Bar-retto, owner of the famed Via Mare chain of restaurants, Norbert Gandler of the In-ternational School of Culi-nary Arts and Hotel Manage-ment, Chef Colin Mackay of Sala Bistro and People’s Palace and executive chefs of pre-miere hotels in the country.

Following the usual mechanics of major culinary competitions, the participants had to beat the time pressure and had a secret ingredient which they had to incorporate in their dishes. This year’s se-cret ingredient was wood ear mushrooms or “tengang daga” in the vernacular. “A great chal-lenge to add as an ingredient in dessert but this was executed flawlessly by our students. You will be amazed with their in-genuity” said Dean Concha.

The National Food Showdown was held last Sep-tember 21 and 22, 2012 at the

World Trade Center in Ma-nila. The team was accompa-nied during the competition by their Dean, Atty. Concha, their coach/instructor Ms. Myra Consuelo Sy, Department Co-ordinator Ms. Cherrie Rose Sagario and Instructor Mr. Dofel Bacuno. “The competi-tion was the biggest milestone of SHRIM DMC by far. We had to come in full force to give our support to our chef warriors. We were confident in the skills and creative talents of our team but we were still anxious as they had to compete with the win-ners from each region, which is no easy feat” Ms. Sy said.

Among the HRM schools in Zanorte, DMC pio-neered participation in hos-pitality events such as the “Kumbira Festival” held an-nually in Cagayan de Oro by the Cagayan de Oro Hotel & Restaurant Association (CO-HARA) which showcases pro-fessional and student skills in the food service industry. This year, DMC participated in the National Food Showdown in Manila and plans to include it in its school calendar next year along with other culi-nary competitions within Asia.

quintessential woman is a fourth year HRIM student, Ms. Vanessa Fe Anadio. And emerging as first and second placers are Ms. Jairah Ruth Ajero from the Unified Team and Ms. Sherry Rosette Restor from the College of Nursing, respectively. Now who ever said that only women can excel in the field of beauty? Marking another “great” in the DMCian tradition, another annual pageant was conducted last February 17, 2013 highlighting the college days celebration – the search for MR. DMC 2013. The night became glamorous when ten handsome gentle-men showed off in a production number wearing their airsoft attire. The crowd became noisier as the ten stunning contestants showcased their selves in three different categories – the traditional school uni-form, swim wear and the old English-inspired Formal wear. Every-body was in glee when the magic five were announced. Taking his moment on that night proclaimed as MR. DMC 2013 is third year nursing student, Mr. Pepito “PJ” Bracamonte, in which also, had grabbed almost all the special awards: Mr. Pho-togenic, Best in Production Number, Best in Production Number Attire, Best in School Uniform, Best in Swim Wear, Unisex Salon, Face of the night and Best in Formal Wear. He was followed by Mr. Prince Crisostomo from the School of HRIM as first runner-up and Mr. Rolan Dalumbar from the Unified Team as second runner-up.

Mr. Friendship was awarded to Mr. Emmanuel Purisima (AMS) and the People’s Choice Award was grabbed by Mr. Jezreel Dalisay (Unified Team). Along with the gentlemen are their co-con-testants: Mr. Sid Celemin (CCS), Simon Restor (HRIM), Mr. Denver

Delmo (BSN), Mr. Christian Sorronda (AMS) and Mr. Mariel Ortega (CCS). Given the chance to chit-chat with the two DMC Beauties was my privilege. Let’s have a closer look back-to-back on the MISS DMC 2012 and MR. DMC 2013.

When you were proclaimed as Mr./Miss DMC, what rang in your mind on that moment?Vanessa: It made me believed that dreams are meant to come true. The first thing that pumped in my mind when I my number was called is that this is a chance – a chance to prove that I can also be more than what I am before. Being the Miss DMC 2012 drives many responsibilities not only to my school but to the society as well.

PJ: I felt fine physically but mentally I felt ambiguous. I'm not sure exactly why, usually, we look forward to these very moments. The only thing that I ever heard during that moment was the beating of my own heart and I was never sure of what was going on. Time stood by while my memories brought me back to where I spent most of my days preparing physically and mentally and all those hard work really paid off. I wanted to win but I was struggling. I took deep breaths and reality is kicking back. This is it! FINALY I MADE IT. I thank the Lord, my fellow candidates and all the people who helped me reach for my goals.

Did the title change you? How?Vanessa: Yes! It changed me in a way that I learned to boost my self-confidence and trust myself in everything I do, but not to the extent that I become windy or sounds arrogant. Having the crown also attached a big responsibility – to be a good role model not just outside but most especially inside.

PJ: Being crowned as Mr.DMC 2013 paves so many new opportunities for me. As the saying goes in the Spider Man Movie, “with great power, comes great responsibility”. Success is doing what you can do best and doing well whatever you do without the thought of fame. If it comes, it comes because it is deserved by you, not because it is sought after. The crown does make a difference as I have lots of responsibili-ties to fulfill now. Being an idol for all the DMCians is not an easy task. But as a person, I am the same, confident and pleasing young man who wants to make a difference to the society and improve for good and no matter what happened I make sure that my FEET stays on the ground as always.

What secrets can you share to those who aspires to be beauty queens and/ or kings like you?Vanessa: Make-up artist? Gowns? Heels? Those are just an instrument. The Family and supporters? Those are just props. What will make you a beauty queen is nobody but “You”. Hav-ing a strong self-confidence and faith in God would help you to be excellent in everything you do despite imperfections.

PJ: Most people think or believe that you have to have a pretty face and stunning body to win a pageant. However, you'll see that its way much more than that---you need the inside to winning pageants! Your personality is crucial in the Pageant world. Why, well if you are not warm, friendly, and outgoing then no one wants to get to know you. The eye! You're probably wondering what in the world does my eyes have to do with a Pageant! Believe it or not, a lot of things. Do you know that if you never look at the judges it will be to your detriment? Yes, you can! You should always want to make direct eye contact with the judges. This shows them that you are confident and not afraid to look at them! Even if on the inside you are terrified, you don't have to show it, right? The whole time you are on the stage you should be looking at the judges and smiling with your eyes. And lastly, the walk! When you’re at the stage, all eyes are in you. When you walk in the stage, it has to be a confident walk as well! You don't have to do a Pageant walk or Runway walk, but your posture and walk should be strong and straight. In other words, try not to walk in the doors like your tired or you've just rolled out of bed! :-) (smile)Even while you are walking around the Pageant location, whether it's a mall or hotel, remember you are being watched. Walk with energy. And lastly, in life packages come in different sizes. As you can see I have a clear disad-vantage in terms of height compared to other candidates. So don’t let your disadvantages pull you down. In a pageant like this make sure to UTILIZE your strength and IMPROVE you weakness.

No less than the Philippine’s finest - Prince, Myra, and Robert from left. They are the best in the country; they are the gold digger; they are excep-tional and truly champions.

Daddy is playing!

Mommy is hype!

The main facilitator and speaker of the said event was Mr. Joshua Eleazar Domen, the new-est faculty member of the College of Computer Studies with a staff posi-tion in the Office of Students, Ex-ternal Affairs, Alumni and Linkages (SEAL). He is a fresh graduate from St. Paul University Dumaguete who naturally hails from Dumaguete City and is no stranger to such kind of leadership training events, as he was the Student Government President during his batch from the university where he came from, and was hon-

ored after graduation as one of the Ten Outstand-ing Students of Region 7 and a finalist of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines with an awarding ceremony held in Malacanang Pal-ace and was graced by the country’s President. The participants are representatives of the different organizations in the school includ-ing the Performing Arts clubs Teatro Likas-Likha & Progeny of Euterpe, along with the class of-ficers of every school and department. Also included are the council officers and members of the Student Affairs Office (SAO) United Volunteers (SUV) who made up the most of the participants. The main objec-tive of the LITCAMP was to develop close and per-sonal relationship within the members of the SAO United Volunteers (SUV) and the club officers/rep-resentatives. It also func-tions as to deepen the

understanding of Lasallian Leader-ship to the participants rooted in the Christocentric approach and value-laden atmosphere. The program also seeks to strengthen team-building ap-proach towards the community, per-sonal relationship in the society, build rapport for personal strength and boost the self-confidence and leader-ship maturity of the participants as student leaders. Lastly, the camp was organized to know and deeply under-stand the participant’s own self and develop their leadership potentials. A lot of activities and strat-egies were used to design and har-ness the leadership potentials of the student leaders so that they could in turn lead their members in a produc-tive way. Three talks were given by noted personalities in the campus. The first one revolved around the theme, “Knowing Thyself ” which was delivered by the school’s guid-ance counselor. The second talk fol-lowed right after which was “Coping up with stress” and was explained by Mr. Jose Rolando Caincay, R.N., as student leaders are more prone to stress in the academe’s environment as compared to normal college stu-dents. Different activities were also done catered to develop the skills of the students as leaders so as they would understand even more their duties and obligations in the school. On the other hand, different spirit-ual activities were also strengthened to maximize their growth in terms of religious aspects of their lives which is one factor to fully lead the organization where they belong to. The final day of the camp be-came an even more strenuous one as compared to yesterday. The day start-ed with an exercise, breakfast, wash-up, synthesis and opening prayer. The final talk followed by the main speak-er of the camp. Mr. Domen was giv-en the scope of “team-building and leadership values” which he stressed out with “The Leadership Life we call

Halo-halo” presentation. It started the half day of Team-building activi-ties and Amazing Race. The Pledge of loyalty they authored was recited and became the culmination of the two-day program for the students. When interviewed about his impression on the activity he spear-headed, he said, “The [Lit] camp be-came an avenue for the students to maximize their potentials. They are students and at the same time lead-ers. It is but fitting and proper to re-serve a time for them not to unwind but develop more the skills they are gifted with. With the results of the evaluation I received from the par-ticipants after, it was a 100% mark that everyone enjoyed and learned from the activity. I look forward to the next camp as it has been my hap-piness to share what I learned from the years I was studying to these small students yet contained with big re-sponsibilities whom I see myself into them as I was in their shoes as well.” Unexpectedly, upon depar-ture and when the participants were about to go home, the DMC Bus that would bring them back to school had some technical difficulties that would only be surpassed if everyone would help push the king vehicle. Eagerly, the student leaders proved once again their commitment and leadership po-tentials dedication as they were able to help each other manually help the engine start, even on their way home.

“DMC FAQs 1-2-3”

Hey there. Welcome to this newest column of mine. I am a faculty of the College of Computer Studies. I am a newbie in this arena of the real world. I am a fresh graduate and this is actually my first job, and I hope would be my last. Well I am also one of the freshest staff of the Office for Students, External Affairs, Alumni and Linkages. I am a stranger in Zamboanga del Norte for I really am from Dumaguete. I am so grateful that I became part of the marketing team, that I was able to spread the good news that DMC is one of the best, if not the best, career choice for the youth to estab-lish a better future. I’ve been to so many municipalities and cities of the province, even as far as Zamboanga Sibugay, all foe my first time, to help the students maximize their choice when entering college. So with the school cam-paigns we’ve been to, I am as-signed with topics we named to as “FAQs” which stands for Frequently Asked Questions. Through this part we answer questions, queries and miscon-ceptions about DMC College Foundation. Something, that even students within the insti-tution should know, be aware, and take part to resolve such is-sues.

• MahalkunoangDMC? During the school campaigns we had, every after videos that were shown promoting DMC, students would get amazed by the fact that the facilities of our school has been the motivating factor to entice students. Also knowing that DMC is now a La Salle supervised school, students would tend to perceive that DMC is a very expensive school. But actually, it is not. As Bok, Derek once quoted it, “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” If people would dole out and spend money for education, they are actually spending the bills worthily. Why? Because spending for education is something that is considered spending wisely. Remember that education is something that cannot be taken away from you, something that you can share, but solely, will be one’s own. The administration hap-pily announces that there is no tution fee increase for the next school year, and that incoming freshmen are given benefits that they have a Presidential scholarship discount, something given by them as a sign of gratefulness and thanksgiving of the school President’s recuperation from his sickness. Plus, where can you find a school that the down payment is only Php 500? If you compare it to other schools, their down payment is one-fourth or one-eighth of the entire tuition fee package, clearly showing their interest of playing safe to the financial obligation of their students. With only Php 500, there is a bright future waiting for the students. You know I am a graduate of a university in Dumaguete, and I am quite shocked with the tuition fee price here. Shocked in a way that I am amazed. Imagine that in my tuiton fee was double and even almost triple the price here upon knowing the exact amount students pay for their tuition. A lesser tuition fee but you get the same kind of facilities, the same kind of teaching, and the same quality education, even better. Plus the fact that DMC is renowned for its quality education, recent 100% passing for board exams, the CCS being a Center of Development for IT Education status given by CHED (a few are only given in the entire Philippine archipelago, not even from the university where I came from), students are empowered like our recent national champions in the Food showdown beating other culinary schools in the Philippines. So you see that? Banking on facilities. DMC is known to have really good facilities. Consider the School of Criminology’s multi-million facilities that would help ensure their needs as future criminologists. That when they get to work as law-enforces, they already have the edge to operate these complex machines.

• SosyalkunoangDMC?People’s common impression when seeing a DMCian is that they look beautiful, elegant, rich, and even sosyal. The question I always throw back is, “What’s wrong with being sosyal?” None. The sosyal we mean is that we are training our students, not to buy the best and most recent gadgets, or to wear and buy the most glamorous dresses. Rather, we are training the students to look good so that you will also feel good. If you feel presentable, it makes you feel confident and gives a positive aura to be motivated and live a fuller life. Imagine, say that you are a future graduate of HRM, where will you work? Hotels. Restaurants. Cruises. And tendency? You will get to work with VIPs¬, the likes of the best personnel in town. And so, it is but fitting and proper to be elegant.

• BagsakankunoangDMC?And lastly, people say that students from DMC are just whosoever. They are not the brightest. Not the richest. Not the most kind-hearted. Which might actually be true. DMC does not mind whether where you come from. We accept all walks of life. You might be the worst student. Or the best student. But we don’t care that much because in DMC, we believe that you past does not define your future not even your present. If you were maybe a pasaway Kid back then, that does not mean you will be like that forever. I remember back in High School I was like, an ordinary student. But when college came, I decided to shape a different self who would face the challenges of the real world. So whether who you are or who you were, welcome to DMC!

I hope, you readers, as students of DMC would also answer the call to help promote our institution that will make a move to strength-en our realization in helping the students eliminate the misconceptions that are not true and cause confusions.

I am sharing these FAQs that were gathered beforehand, and little by little answer them in positive ways. C’mon and help me.

Potential Provider for Juan de la Cruz

According to President Benigno Aquino III, the K to 12 Basic Education Program is a core strategy to invest for the most important asset of society that is the Filipino people of the Philippines. It empowers Juan de la Cruz to help develop not only himself but his family and country. But, what is the K to 12 Basic Education Program exactly? The program is a wide spectrum of curricular offer-ings. It starts with Kindergar-ten then proceeds to 6 years of Primary Education called the Grades 1 to 6. After which, with Grades 7 to 10 as Junior High School and 2 years as Senior High School for Grades 11 to 12. In an official Gazette of the Department of Educa-tion, salient features of the program are enumerated like Early Childhood strengthen-ing, contextualization and en-hancement, spiral progression, mother tongue-based multilin-gual education, gearing up for

the future, nurturing the holis-tically developed Filipino.

Everyone is part of the implementation and transition to achieve no shortages at the end of 2013 in terms of class-rooms, teacher items, water and sanitation, textbooks, and seats. This would help us get through development in ways anew. Are we ready for this? Is DMC College Foundation prepared for this? How can we cope with this? Since we are nevertheless equipped with a more K to 12 ready facilities, are we potential provider for Juan de la Cruz? This remains to be a great challenge for all of us not only for our administra-tors. We all have integral roles to play to help Juan de la Cruz improve. Whatever the future holds for all of us, one thing is for sure, it calls for us unity, un-derstanding, cooperation and openness of heart to welcome this big change.

According to Mr. Jo-vanie Talaroc, Vice Dean of

CCS, “this is a very good intel-lectual exercise for beginners like these high school students so that as early as today they will already grow interest in

IT matters.” “It is when there is proper and handful exposure that we know we are inclined to something like Information Technology” Dr. Gerald Con-cha, Dean of CCs said.

The School of HRIM (SHRIM) of DMC College Foundation went on a study tour to Ma-nila on the occasion of the 3rd Young Hoteliers and Restau-rateurs Power Conference last September 7-9. DMC, being part of the Lasallian Supervised Schools Organization was one of the select HRM schools invited in the annual event organized by the De La Salle University — Dasmariñas. Student lead-ers of DMC SHRIM joined the conference together with their Coordinator, Ms. Cherrie Rose J. Sagario and their Dean, Atty. Diana Concha. Upon their arrival to Manila, the group proceeded to De La Salle University (DLSU) in Dasmariñas Cavite where

they were met with a grand welcome by the Program Chair of the College of International Hospitality Management, Mr. Jefferson Buenviaje and Mr. Rowell Paras, the Dean of the HRM Department together with their students. The group was taken on a campus tour of university which sits on a 27-hectare property. “We were delighted by the grand and warm wel-come of DLSU Dasmarinas. It was an enjoyable and learning activity not just for the stu-dents but also for me. It is al-ways good to benchmark and learn from the best practices of Lasallian schools as La Salle is known for its high standards. I was very much impressed with the unique activities and

features of the university” said Atty. Concha. The campus tour high-lights included a tour of the laboratories of the HRM de-partment of the school, the “San Rafael Mini-Hotel”; the “Aklatang Emilio Aguinal-do” — the university’s library which is a scaled-down model of Emilio Aguinaldo’s house; the “Antonio and Victoria Co-juangco Memorial Chapel” of “Our Lady of the Holy Rosary” and the “Museo De La Salle” which depicted the 19th centu-ry Philippine Ilustrado lifestyle, showcasing the typical interior design and adornments of fam-ily homes of affluent Filipinos during the period. The conference which was held at the SMX Conven-

tion Center in Manila drew in participants from HRM schools mostly from Luzon and Visayas; and, only DMC and a school in Davao City brought in delegates who are from Mindanao. According to DMC SHRIM Coordinator Ms. Sagario, this is one of the many great benefits of DMC being a La Salle supervised school. “DMC’s partnership with La Salle has brought in tremen-dous opportunities for the school. The study tour was jam-packed with educational activities for the students and for me. We are very fortunate to be part of the events organ-ized by La Salle schools. We are excited to replicate the confer-ence in DMC and invite other HRM schools from Region 9 this coming February. It will feature a training workshop by PAL Learning Center and talks by notable professionals in the

field of hospitality and tour-ism” said Sagario. The conference fea-tured a battery of highly dis-tinguished speakers including popular broadcaster Ms. Karen Davila, motivational speaker Pido Aguilar, and Philippine beauty queen Ms. Shamsey Supsup among others. The Ul-timate Flair Bartending Cham-pionship was also held during the conference. Apart from attending the conference and visiting DLSU Dasmariñas, the group visited the Philippine Air Force Museum, Intramuros, and en-joyed an exposure tour of up-scale dining establishments in Makati and Fort Bonifacio Global City. The students also went to Mercato Centrale, a night market featuring culi-nary creations and innovations of young entrepreneurs.

is grateful to know that after the long and tedious journey of student nurses, all batch 2012 takers successfully submit and pass the arduous bridge to-wards becoming a registered nurse “for it is not easy to be a

student nurse considering the expenses, the time, the effort and the nights of painstaking burning of midnight candles.” Being the pioneering paramedical institution of the province, the administrators of DMC College Foundation continue to uphold and main-tain quality in all paramedical courses to ensure what is best for its students and parents. “Together, we are one here at

DMC College Foundation to support our graduates and be proud of their undertakings. We call for all of the students to emulate the marks of our grad-uates and do your best wher-ever you are at the moment in your studies,” this Dr. Cordova, Dean of Instruction said. "All of these we offer to our Father above who is the reason for all of these," he added.

“To understand better the na-ture of criminology as a pro-fession and to fully develop the skills of criminology students not only in crime related un-dertakings but also in research, the DMC School of Crimi-nology expands its facilities. Through this, the criminology students will appreciate what they are doing as part of their soon to be professions and will be fully equipped as they reach

Criminology upgrades their field of work.” This is what School of Crimi-nology Dean Arabani said when asked of the rationale of a multimillion facility im-provement at their department. With the new crime laboratory and equipment like dark room, lie-detecting machine, photog-raphy, fingerprinting room and others, the students will now have an improved education at the School of Criminology.

The School of Criminology is now accepting new applicants for Academic Year 2013-2014.
