What is the Challenge?

Aim of both, CCA and DRR:

reduce negative impacts of climate change and disasters,

on the natural environment, human society and economies

by anticipating risks and uncertainties and addressing

vulnerabilities

But each field does so through different:

actors and institutions

time horizons

research methodologies

policy frameworks

Advances in the CCA and DRR cooperation

Policy frameworks have widely recognised the need

for better coordination between both areas

Funding frameworks considering the integration of

both areas

At the national level, many countries have realised the

need for this integration

Adaptation tools have progressively started to use

what as been learned from DRR tools

Humanitarian organisations have started to integrate

climate information in their operations

multi-stakeholder dialogue and consultation between CCA and

DRR research, policy and practice communities across scales.
