FV Series Stainless steel worm gearboxes are being designed to meet the latest standards for the highly demanding environments in the
food industry. The organic round and smooth design makes the gearboxes extremely employable in the food industry. The FV worm gearboxes
are a new generation using the latest standards in worm gears.
The main features are :
Made of high quality carefully electro polished Stainless Steel AISI316. (mirror polished on request)
A smooth design gives the gearbox a nice appearance, ready to suit all
kinds of stainless steel machinery for the food industry.
Standard ratios between 7.5 to 100:1
Optional SS316 open and closed hollow shaft covers for extra hygiene.
Hollow output shafts in Stainless steel.
Optional easy clean hygienic design SS316 Torque arms and footplates.
Factory equipped with Synthetic H1 Food grade oil.
Halal, Kosher or Nut free certification on request.
Each gearbox is tested with a 100% Factory pressure leak test.
No Tag plates !
The tag plate is etched on the gearbox, no dirt traps under the tag plate.

Efficiency & Irreversibility Character
Efficiency is an important parameter of worm reducers, Efficiency η depends on the following parameters:
1) Helix angle of gearing, 2) Driving speed,
3) Running-in of gearing, 4) The performance of oil, oil seal and bearing.
The mesh data table on this page shows dynamic efficiency (η 1=1400) and static efficiency values. Remember that these values are only achieved after the unit has been run in. Torque values Mn2 indicated in the catalogue are calculated by considering the steady-state perfor-
mance of the gearboxes. The actual values mentioned above may have deflection.
Dynamic irreversibility: Dynamic irreversibility is achieved when the output shaft stops instantly when drive is no longer transmitted trough the worm shaft. This
condition requires a dynamic efficiency of d 0,4 η ≤ (See table below)
Sta c irreversibility: Static irreversibility is achieved when the gear reducer at a standstill, the application of a load to the output shaft can’t drive the worm shaft.
This condition requires a static efficiency of S 0,5 η ≤ (See table below)
Note! The table shows approximate irreversibility classes. Vibrations and shocks can affect a gear reducer’s irreversibility. As it is virtually impos-sible to provide and guarantee total non reversing, we recommend the use of an external brake with sufficient capability to prevent vibra-
tions induced starting, where these circumstances are required. For the irreversibility conditions of a combined geared unit, one must con-sider that the efficiency of the group is given by the product of the efficiencies of each single reducer, i.e.:ηtot =η1xη
