1. PERSUASION

Definition : The process by which a person’s attitudes or behaviour are, without duress, influenced by communications from other people.Persuasion attempts to win "the heart and mind" of the target. Thus persuasion must induce attitude change, which entails affective (emotion-based) change.

Concept Applied : Crystal really wants to get into LT company and expresses her desire and anticipation to her mother. She thinks LT company will provide the best working environment for her to develop herself as an engineer. However, her mother thinks otherwise. Her mother wants her to get into BC company and persuades Crystal to go for the interview. Crystal is persuaded to do whatever her mother wants her to do as Crystal trusts her mother’s experience and good intentions.

2. MOTIVATION

Definition : Motivation is an internal process that makes a person move toward a goal. Motivation, like intelligence, can't be directly observed. Instead, motivation can only be inferred by noting a person's behavior.

Concept Applied : The man has a conversation with Crystal, we knew that his daughter is dying and need a huge amount of money for her heart operation. This make the man pressure and he do his best in this interview because this company has a high pay and he doesn’t want to lose his chances to get a high pay by working in this company. Therefore, he is driven by the need to save his daughter and fund for her medical expenses. He does his best to show that he is capable of working in that company during the interview.

3. SEXISM

Definition : Sexism is discrimination based on gender and preferential treatment of one sex over another. For example, women still make on average less money than men, and many people cite this as evidence for sexism in the workplace. Perhaps employers feel that women don’t perform as well on the job. Or employers feel that women do perform as well as men but that their performance for some reason doesn’t warrant higher pay or a salary equal to that of a man with the same experience, in the same position.

Concept Applied : The first impression of the interviewer toward Crystal is he is annoyed for seeing another female interviewee came for the interview. During the whole interview section, that company interviewer didn’t pay attention to what Crystal said and the only thing in his mind is that they doesn’t need any female worker.

4. BYSTANDER EFFECT

Definition : The bystander effect, or bystander apathy, is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not offer any means of help to a victim when other people are present. The probability of help is inversely related to the number of bystanders.

Concept Applied : When Crystal’s bag was snatched right in front of so many people, the onlookers did not give her help. Because there are other observers, individuals do not feel as much pressure to take action, since the responsibility to take action is thought to be shared among all of those present. The girls were seen worried for Crystal but as there were many people at the scene, they did not take action because they thought the guys will help her. The onlookers just observed the whole incident without offering help to Crystal.

5. DISPLACED AGGRESION

Definition : Displaced aggression is when someone frustrates you, and you can not aggress the person who made you frustrated because that person may have more power then you. Therefore, you displace your aggression toward an innocent third party who may be less powerful then you.

Concept Applied : Displaced aggression is shown when Crystal takes out her frustration of not getting the job, and getting her handbag snatched towards an innocent target, her mother. She was feeling very frustrated and her mother provoked her by asking her how she was. Crystal then showed aggression by slapping her mother’s hand away and then started yelling at her.
