PSC Cable TerminationsCable accessories for extruded solid dielectric cables

• Class 1 (outdoor) termination as defined in IEEE 48 standard• For use on all extruded dielectric cables and sizes are available for all shielded cables in voltage classes

from 15kV through 46kV• Conductor sizes through 2000 kcmil aluminum and copper cables• Porcelain insulator provides maximum resistance to moisture, industrial pollution and seacoast pollution• Porcelain is the most reliable insulator for use where insulator dryband arcing may occur• Spring loaded elastomer stress control system is the most reliable method to provide continuous

mechanical force to the elastomer, thereby compensating for elastomer permanent set• The electric stress control cone is a factory made soft elastomer which seals the cable shield against

environmental moisture• The brass top cap has maximum resistance to industrial and seacoast pollution• O-rings seal the top cap to the porcelain. This is the most reliable and proven seal available in the industry• Options for external connection to the overhead system include: - Eyebolt - Flat pad aerial lug-bus connection - Clamp style aerial lug-bare wire• Galvanized steel mounting brackets are available • The termination lower casting makes the cable shield ground connection with no extra parts, straps or

soldering

G&W Electric’s PSC Terminations are for use on all extruded dielectric cables without the need for additional kits or tapes. Sizes are available for all shielded cables in voltage classes from 15kV through 46kV.

Field Assembly

Each G&W termination is complete with field assembly instructions. Only normal hand tools are required. The following is a summary of the field assembly.

1. Prepare the cable using standard practice

4. Push assembly into the porcelain

2. Slide the elastomers and casting on the cable

3. Crimp the connector

5. Tighten compression screws

6. Complete the aerial connection

All conductor sizes in the range 6 AWG through 2000 kcmil are available. External connectors with “P” suffix are tin-plated aluminum. All others are bronze.

Ordering Information- External Connectors

Eyebolt

All PSC terminations require a connector to make the contact from the cable conductor to the bare wire overhead system. Those terminations having an eyebolt (2-2/0) use a pin-type compression connector. This connector is available in copper, aluminum or bi-metal styles. The pin accommodates conduc-tor 6 through 2/0. The eyebolt accommodates conductors 2 through 2/0.

Threaded Stud Top Cap

Clamp style or flat pad aerial lugs are available for conductor sizes 2 through 2000 kcmil.
