From the plains of La Moraña, cradle of San Juan de la Cruz in Fontiveros, and cra- dle of American discovery with the birth of Isabel la Católica in Madrigal de las Altas Torres, a land full of art, in whose skyline the church towers of the purest mudejar sty- le are a highlight, emphasizing the historical town of Arevalo, famous for its roasted su- ckling pig, to the summits of Gredos, where our sight will never get tired of so much beauty: the Five Lakes, the Big Lake, The Almanzor, Gredos Cir- que…There, in Navarre- donda de Gredos, you find the first Parador of Tou- rism in Spain, and throu- ghout the area you find an ample and varied offer of outdoor adventures. You must visit villages like El Barco de Avila, famous for its very much appreciated beans, and Hoyos del Espino. If you Reach Corneja Valley you find villages full of his- tory like Piedrahita or Bonilla de la Sierra and incredible natural landscape. An especially suitable area for outdoor recreation like paragliding, parasailing or horseback riding and to sample the delicious patatas revolconas. In Tietar Valley, the southern region of the province, known as ”Andalusia of Avila” for its privileged climate, tobacco and red pep- per are easily grown in villages like Candeleda, also comprising El Raso, one of the most important archaeological sites in the province. Castles like those in La Adrada, Arenas de San Pedro or Mombeltrán and a rich gastronomy standing out roasted mountain kid, goat cheese from Tietar and all kind of fruits (cherries, figs, chestnuts, etc) enriching even more the tourist appeal of this region. East of the province, Alberche Valley and Tierra de Pinares form an area where nature is especially attractive, with wonderful reservoirs like El Burguillo, historical sites like Guisando Bulls in El Tiemblo and tourist resorts like Navaluenga and Las Navas del Marques. An ample offer of country holidays in such beautiful scenery as Iruelas Valley, nautical sports and a rich gastronomy where Alber- che vegetables and peaches and Cebreros wines deserve special mention. Next to the capi- tal city, Ambles Valley, after which the famous veal is named, and the Avila mountain range keep important Celtic traces in the fortifications of Ulaca (Solosancho), Las Cogo- tas (Cardeñosa), La Mesa de Miranda (Chamartín) or Los Castillejos (Sanchorreja). And what should be said of Avila, the best preserved walled precinct in the world, along with the beautiful samples of Romanesque in Avila, which made possible the declaration of Ávila as World Heritage by UNESCO in December 1985. History, Nature, Historical Artistic Heritage, have made Ávila a province knownworldwide where the visitors who come should prepare themselves for a never-endingsurprise.

From the plains of La Moraña, cradle of San Juan de la Cruz in Fontiveros, and cra-dle of American discovery with the birth of Isabel la Católica in Madrigal de las AltasTorres, a land full of art, in whose skyline the church towers of the purest mudejar sty-le are a highlight, emphasizing the historical town of Arevalo, famous for its roasted su-ckling pig, to the summitsof Gredos, where our sightwill never get tired of somuch beauty: the FiveLakes, the Big Lake, TheAlmanzor, Gredos Cir-que…There, in Navarre-donda de Gredos, you findthe first Parador of Tou-rism in Spain, and throu-ghout the area you find anample and varied offer ofoutdoor adventures. Youmust visit villages like ElBarco de Avila, famous forits very much appreciatedbeans, and Hoyos del Espino. If you Reach Corneja Valley you find villages full of his-tory like Piedrahita or Bonilla de la Sierra and incredible natural landscape. An especiallysuitable area for outdoor recreation like paragliding, parasailing or horseback riding andto sample the delicious patatas revolconas. In Tietar Valley, the southern region of theprovince, known as ”Andalusia of Avila” for its privileged climate, tobacco and red pep-per are easily grown in villages like Candeleda, also comprising El Raso, one of the mostimportant archaeological sites in the province. Castles like those in La Adrada, Arenasde San Pedro or Mombeltrán and a rich gastronomy standing out roasted mountain kid,goat cheese from Tietar and all kind of fruits (cherries, figs, chestnuts, etc) enriching evenmore the tourist appeal of this region. East of the province, Alberche Valley and Tierrade Pinares form an area where nature is especially attractive, with wonderful reservoirslike El Burguillo, historical sites like Guisando Bulls in El Tiemblo and tourist resortslike Navaluenga and Las Navas del Marques. Next to the capi-tal city, Ambles Valley, after which the famous veal is named, and the Avila mountainrange keep important Celtic traces in the fortifications of Ulaca (Solosancho), Las Cogo-tas (Cardeñosa), La Mesa de Miranda (Chamartín) or Los Castillejos (Sanchorreja). Andwhat should be said of Avila, the best preserved walled precinct in the world, along withthe beautiful samples of Romanesque in Avila, which made possible the declaration ofÁvila as World Heritage by UNESCO in December 1985.
