nos fuimos a ver la Catedral de Ávila. Nada más verla, me recordó a la Catedral de Notre-Dame. Mi madre me dijo que su estilo era "gótico francés", incluso ví alguna gárgola (chimière).

BASÍLICA DE SAN VICENTEBasilica of San Vicente

Destaca el CENOTAFIO DE LOS SANTOS HERMANOS MÁRTIRES (un cenotafio es una tumba vacía, o monumento funerario erigido en honor de una persona, o grupo de personas, para los que se desea guardar un recuerdo especial). San Vicente de Ávila y sus hermanas Santa Sabina y Santa Cristeta sufrieron martirio por negarse a firmar un documento en el que debían ofrecer sacrificios a los dioses romanos. Sus cuerpos fueron depositados en el hueco de una roca, edificándose la Basílica sobre ese lugar en su honor. Es la obra más importante de la escultura románica en España.

Se hacía la hora de comer, y nos fuimos a buscar un restaurante. Elegimos uno al azar y no nos equivocamos, aunque yo no comí muy bien porque no tenía apetito. Después nos fuimos a tomar café (bueno, se lo tomaron ellos, porque ya he dicho que no tenía apetito y porque no me gusta).

LA EXCURSIÓN AL BARCO DE ÁVILA

BOAT TRIP TO THE AVILACuando llegamos al pueblo,

nos dimos un paseo. Visitamos la alameda, la plaza... Pero lo que más me gustó fue el Puente Románico y el castillo.

Durante el paseo, hicimos un poco de ejercicio, para empezar bien el día.

When we reached the village, we took a walk. We went to the mall, Plaza ... But what I liked most was the Romanesque bridge and the castle.

During the ride, we did a little exercise to start the day.

CANDELARIO

Este pueblo me pareció muy bonito, especialmente por sus casas y por sus canales de agua que pasaban por sus calles. Nos explicaron que tenían dos funciones:

Una, la de limpiar las calles (en las matanzas).

Y dos, utilizar esa agua para el regadío.

Un pueblo peculiar y pintoresco.

Comimos y... ¡REGRESO A BURGOS!

These people seemed very nice, especially for their homes and their water channels passing through the streets. They explained that they had two functions:

One, to clean the streets (in the killings).

And two, use that water for irrigation.

A peculiar and picturesque village.

Ate and ...BACK TO BURGOS!
