Proverbs 28:16 The prince that

wanteth understanding is also a

great oppressor: but he that

hateth covetousness shall

prolong his days.

(TLB) 16 Only a stupid prince

will oppress his people, but a

king will have a long reign if

he hates dishonesty and bribes.

To be a harsh ruler or leader is stupid.

You won’t last long.

3

17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any

person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

(TLB) 17 A murderer’s conscience will drive him

into hell. Don’t stop him!

God brings people to repentance through

hardship and difficulty.

Most transgressors won’t repent

until they hit bottom.

Don’t hinder God’s process;

Don’t bail them out.

4

18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he

that is perverse (to knot or distort) in his ways shall

fall at once.

(TLB) 18 Good men will be rescued from harm, but

cheaters will be destroyed.

Uprightness will give men holy security in the

worst times; but the false and dishonest are never

safe.

Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.

19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread:

but he that followeth after vain persons shall have

poverty enough.

(TLB) 19 Hard work brings prosperity; playing

around brings poverty.

To do well in life you need a good job.

To get and keep a good job, you have to work.

Be there when you are supposed to be there.

Work hard when you are there.

Finish well every job you are given.

6

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but

he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be

innocent.

Get rich quick schemes will not bless you.

Be honest, dependable, and work hard.

7

A faithful man is faithful to more than his job.

A faithful man is trustworthy and dependable

in all things, big and small.

8

21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a

piece of bread that man will transgress.

Treat them no

differently.

9

22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and

considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

(NIV) 22 A stingy man is eager to get rich and is

unaware that poverty awaits him.

God can’t bless a stingy person.

We must be generous because GOD is generous.

We are His children.

Proverbs 3 9 Honor the LORD with thy substance,

and with the first-fruits of all thine increase: 10 So

shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy

presses shall burst out with new wine.

Ecclesiastes 11 (TLB) 1-2 Give generously, for your

gifts will return to you later. Divide your gifts

among many, for in the days ahead you yourself

may need much help.

11

Malachi 3 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the

storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house,

and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of

hosts, if I will not open you the windows of

Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there

shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will

rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall

not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall

your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field,

saith the LORD of hosts.

Generosity brings blessings.

2 Corinthians 9 6-8 But this I say, He which soweth

sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which

soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart,

so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for

God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to

make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always

having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to

every good work:
