Proverbs 17:23 A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.

(TLB) 23 It is wrong to accept a bribe to twist justice.

24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.

A man of Understanding keeps his eyes focused on the Wisdom of God.

A fool is focused on all the stuff and pleasure that

he see and wants.

Some folks are always looking for something to want.

25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.

Again and again we see this Truth in Proverbs.

Ephesians 6 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

We don’t want to be grief and bitterness to our family.

Proverbs 22 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Our children become what we train them to be.

Train them to grow up and become godly, productive adults.

Every day, in every way we train our children, for good or ill.

Some parents train their children to fuss and cuss;to whine and complain.

May we train our children to love the

Lord.

26 Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

Our government punishes people for

working.

Some punish people for being Christians.

Some punish people for having children.

Not good!

27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Two things reveal Wisdom:

An ability to say much with few words.

To have an excellent spirit, or in other words,

To be pleasant and even-tempered.

28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Two things reveal foolishness:

Never use ten words when a thousand will do.

Inability to control one’s anger.
