ProTrainings  Europe  Skill  Evaluator  TrainingDescriptionThe  ProTrainings  Europe  Skill  Evaluator  training  is  designed  to  prepare  individuals  to  conduct  handsp on  skill  evaluations  for  students  who  complete  the  blended  course  onp line  for  the  ProBLS,  ProBLS  for  Healthcare  Professionals,  ProBLS  for  Dentists  and  the  range  of  video  online  first  aid  courses.  

Purpose  

ProTrainings  Europe  skill  evaluation  certification  provides  individuals  with  the  skills,  tools  and  knowledge  to  successfully  evaluate  student’s  CPR  and  First  Aid  skills.  Upon  successful  completion,  Evaluators  can  sign  student  certificates  according  to  their  level  of  training.    It  is  important  to  remember  that  the  skill  evaluator  role  is  to  evaluate  skills  learnt  on  a  ProTrainings  video  online  course  and  not  to  instruct.    The  rating  does  not  allow  the  evaluator  to  instructor  any  of  our  programs  unless  qualified  and  approved.  

• Course  DesignPre-­‐requisite:

• Must  have  a  current  Pro  Trainings  Europe  student/provider  level  certificatethat  is  equal  to  the  skill  level  of  desired  skill  evaluator  certificate.  This  isincluded  in  the  on-­‐line  evaluator  course.

• ITG  Instructor  Training  trained  instructors  have  this  rating  as  part  of  theircourse

Skill  Evaluator  Training:  

• Total  time:  4-­‐8  hours  or  as  part  of  instructor  training  course  with  ITG  InstructorTraining  or  ProTrainings  Europe

• Includes  a  blended  combination  of  online  training,  live  skills  demonstration,practice  teaching  and  skill  assessment.  The  time  for  the  online  portion  isdependent  on  the  level  of  certification  desired  and  individual  student  leads.

• Skill  Evaluator  Bridge-­‐  Submit  a  current  equivalent  CPR/First  Aid  Instructorcertification  from  a  recognized  organisation  to  be  bridged  to  be  a  ProTrainingsEurope  Instructor.  Instructors  must  complete  the  ProTrainingsstudent/provider  level  training  for  the  equivalent  instructor  level  ofcertification.

Certificate  Awarded:  

There  are  three  levels  of  ProTrainings  Europe  certified  Skill  Evaluators:  

• ProBLS  Skill  Evaluator-­‐Can  sign  certificates  for  a  ProBLS,  ProBLS  forHealthcare  Professionals  and  ProBLS  for  Dentists.

• ProTrainings  (Centre)  Instructor• ProTrainings  (In-­‐house)  Instructor

Each  skill  evaluator  certificate  is  valid  for  3  years.  Skill  Evaluators  must  complete  a  minimum  of  2  skill  evaluations  per  year  and  complete  all  updates  as  required  in  order  to  renew  the  certification.  Also  one  can  submit  a  current  equivalent  instructor  certification  from  another  recognised  organisation  for  skill  evaluator  certificate  renewal.  

ProTrainings  Europe,  Blended  Course

Blended  Course  (Active  for  a  3  year  period):  An  individual  completes  cognitive  training  and  testing  online  by  watching  video  segments,  completing  activities  and  passing  a  multiple  choice  test,  a  hands-­‐on  skills  session  for  skills  practice  and  evaluation  by  a  registered  ProTrainings  Europe  instructor  or  Skill  Evaluatior  is  required  to  complete  the  certification  process.

Skill  Evaluator  Materials  

To  complete  a  skill  evaluation  you  will  need  the  following  materials;  

• Skill  sheets  for  the  appropriate  certification  level• Student  checklists  for  the  appropriate  certification  level• Required  manikins  and  equipment

All  material  is  available  from  ProTrainings.  

Who  needs  the  “Blended  Course”?  

1. In  some  cases  where  Individuals  who  are  completing  the  course  for  the  firsttime

2. Individuals  who  have  been  informed  by  their  company  or  licensingadministration  that  they  must  have  a  hands-­‐on  skill  evaluation.

What  is  the  “blended  Course”?  

All  training  and  testing  are  completed  online  at  www.probls.co.uk  or  www.profa.co.uk  Skills  are  then  evaluated  inp person  by  a  registered  ProTrainings  Europe  Skill  Evaluator  or  certified  CPR  Instructor.  

How  Can  I  become  a  Skill  Evaluator?  

Step  1:  Complete  the  course  online  that  you  would  like  to  be  a  skill  evaluator  for.  Access  the  courses  at  www.proinstructor.co.uk  .  

Step  2:  Sign  up  at  www.probls.co.uk/en/partner/users/new_instructor  or  complete  the  enclosed  application  and  fax  it  back  to  us.  

Step  3:  Receive  training  from  ProTrainings  Europe  or  use  your  current  qualifications  to  bridge  from  another  program.  Currently  certified  CPR  instructors  can  upload,  fax  or  email  a  copy  of  their  instructor  credentials.  When  the  instructor  credentials  are  verified,  Instructors  need  to  complete  the  ProTrainings  student/provider  level  for  the  equivalent  instructor  level  of  certification.  If  not  currently  certified  as  a  CPR  instructor  you  will  need  to  complete  the  online  skill  evaluator  training  and  a  live  class  or  video  conference  for  the  handsp on  portion.  Call  to  schedule  your  training  class  or  video  conference.  The  amount  of  training  time  is  dependent  upon  the  participant’s  skills  and  training  experience.  You  will  need  the  following  in  order  to  complete  the  video  conference:

A  computer  with  a  high  speed  internet  connection  with  the  minimum  requirements listed  below  (please  verify  that  you  have  these  minimum  requirements  before scheduling  your  training.  If  your  work  facility  does  not  have  these  minimum requirements,  often  someone’s  home,  library  or  community  centre  may  be  available  a

an  alternative  to  conduct  the  training.)  

• PC  running  Windows  XP,  Vista  or  7  with  at  least  1.8  GHz  processor  OR  MACcomputer  running  Mac  OS  x  v10.3.9  (Panther)  or  newer  with  800MHz  or  fasterprocessor.

• Administrative  rights  in  order  to  install  the  most  recent  version  of  SKYPE  on  thecomputer  if  virtual  evaluation  is  required.

• Unrestricted  Internet  high-­‐speed  broadband  connection  with  a  sustained  1Mbps  bandwidth  or  higher.

• Speakers  and  microphone-­‐  built-­‐in  or  separate,  or  a  computer  headset.• A  high  definition  webcam  if  virtual  evaluation  in  required.

2. An  uninterrupted  block  of  time  for  a  live  video-­‐conference  (if  required).

Check  Person  Ask,  “are  you  choking?”  If  the  person  cannot  cough,  speak  or  breathe,  he  or  she  is  choking  and  needs  your  help  

Stand  to  their  side  Give  5  backslaps  between  their  shoulder  blades.  Check  if  the  item  has  come  out.  

If  not  working  Call  999  or  112Send  someone  to  call  999,  if  no  one  is  available,  provide  care  first.  

Position  HandsFind  the  navel.  Tucking  in  the  thumb,  place  the  thumb  side  of  the  fist  against  the  abdomen,  just  above  the  navel    

Give  Thrusts  Grasp  the  back  of  your  fist,  give  inward-­‐upward  abdominal  thrusts  until  object  is  out  or  the  person  goes  unconscious.  Check  if  the  item  has  come  out.

Infant  Conscious  Choking  

Check  Baby  If  the  baby  cannot  cough,  speak  or  breathe,  he  or  she  is  choking  and  needs  your  help.  Can  you  see  the  obstruction?  

Give  5  back  blows  Holding  the  baby’s  head  lower  than  the  feet,  give  5  back  blows  between  their  shoulder  blades.  Check  if  the  item  has  come  out  after  each  back  blow.  

Call  999  or  112Send  someone  to  call  999,  if  no  one  is  available,  provide  care  first.  

Turn  baby  overHold  the  back  of  the  head.  Sandwich  the  baby  between  your  forearms  and  turn  them  over.  

 Give  5  Chest  Thrusts  Place  you  finger  in  the  sternum  in  the  centre  and  give  5  chest  thrusts.  Check  if  the  item  has  come  out  after  each  thrust  

Repeat  steps  3  to  5  Keep  giving  5  back  blows  and  5  chest  thrusts  until  the  object  comes  out  or  baby  goes  unconscious  when  you  would  start  CPR.    Do  not  do  blind  finger  sweeps  in  to  the  infants  mouth

As  a  ProTrainings  Europe  Evaluator/Instructor,I  agree  to  follow  all  the  current  policies,  regulations  and  procedures  of  ProTrainings  Europe  related  to  the  conduct  and  administrations  of  Skill  Evaluations.  

• Maintain  updated  contact  information  and  regular  communication  withProTrainings  Europe.

• Assist  ProTrainings  Europe  in  resolving  issues  that  may  arise  with  participants.• Accept  evaluation  of  responsibilities  by  ProTrainings  Europe  staff.• Maintain  a  safe  environment  and  the  proper  equipment  necessary  for  skill

evaluations.• Provide  honest  and  fair  skill  evaluations  for  participants• Conduct  the  complete  evaluation  requirements  for  each  participant  and

provide  appropriate  information  to  participants  for  the  completion  of  theircertification

• Recognise  that  ProTrainings  Europe  materials  are  copyrighted  and  may  bereproduced  only  with  the  permission  of  ProTrainings  Europe

• Recognise  that  this  agreement  remains  in  effect  as  long  as  the  evaluator’srequirements  for  authorisation  are  maintained  with  ProTrainings  Europe

• I  acknowledge  that  failure  to  follow  agreements,  policies,  regulations  andprocedures  related  to  the  conduct  and  administration  of  ProTrainings  Europemay  result  in  the  immediate  revocation  of  registration,  terminating  the  abilityto  evaluate  skills  for  participants  to  receive  certification  from  ProTrainingsEurope.

No  Evaluator  shall;  • Authorise  the  use  of  the  name,  logo,  endorsement,  services  or  property  of

ProTrainings  Europe,  without  the  express  permission  of  ProTrainingsEurope

• Charge  any  fees  or  seek  financial  gain  for  services  relating  to  ProTrainingsEurope  above  the  skill  evaluation  fee

• Disclose  any  such  confidential  information  that  is  available  solely  as  a  resultof  the  affiliation  with  ProTrainings  Europe  to  any  person  not  authorised  toreceive  such  information.

• Operate  in  a  manner  that  is  contrary  to  the  best  interest  of  ProTrainingsEurope

• Operate  against  the  best  interest  of  ProTrainings  Europe  where  a  conflictexists.  If  in  the  interest  of  any  organisation  in  which  he  or  she  has  a  financialinterest  or  with  which  he  or  she  is  affiliated  conflicts,  the  instructor  shalldisclose  such  conflict  to  ProTrainings  Europe  as  soon  as  he  or  she  becomesaware  of  it.
