General description

VAA relays are voltage operated relays.Therelaysareattractedarmatureunitsofcompactdesignwithpositiveactionandahighdegreeofmechanicalstability.Therelayscanbesuppliedwithself,orhandresetcontactsandchangeovercontacts.Seetable1

Standard contacts are of silver/copperalloy. They are shaped and positionedto ensure a reliable and low resistancenormallyopenornormallyclosedcontact.Standard VAA 11/21 relays are suitableforac/dcsupplyandstandardVAA13/23relaysaresuitablefordcsupplyonly.

VAA21/22/23aredoublepoleversionsofVAA11/12/13respectively.

VAA31/33areTriplepoleversionsofVAA11/12/13respectively.

When it is necessary to break heavy orhighly inductive dc loads, heavy dutymagnetic blow out type contacts canbe provided. These contacts use themagnetic field of a small permanentmagnet to force thearconto thearcinghorns away from the contact tips. Thebreaking capacity of the heavy dutycontactisshownbythecurvesinFigure1.Auxiliary relays with delay on pick-up

or drop-off can be supplied on specificrequest. Similarly relays with magneticblowoutcontactscanalsobesuppliedonspecificrequest.

ThestandardVAArelaysprovideonlyin-stantaneousselforhandresetcontacts.

Toensurealongeroperatinglife,thetipsofthesilvercontactshaveadomedpro-file,theoptimumdesignfortherepetitiveoperation duties of industrial applica-tions.

Although the standard designs are suit-able for dc and full-wave rectified acsystemsonly, alternative versions for acoperationareavailable.
