FOGTEC Fire Protection System forMetro BudapestThe East-West metro line M2 is part ofthe mass transportation system of

Budapest and has one of the greatestcapacities among all metro lines inBudapest . The line has been in operationfor more than 30 years and can not bereplaced by any other transportationfacility. The track runs for 8.8 km in atunnel, for 1.6 km on the surface. It linksthe inner town at nine main junctionpoints and it passes below the Danube.Of the stations eleven nine are construc-ted underground and two are located on

the surface. After more than 30 years ofoperation a reconstruction of the metroline became necessary. The specialenvironment found in metros make theescape of passengers and the access offire fighting personnel extremelydifficult in cases of accidents or fires. Toprovide better fire protection in theMetro stations the entire fire protectionsystem is under reconstruction. As onepart of this improvement of the fire

FOGTEC SolutionThe concept of the FOGTEC solution is torapidly and efficiently control andsuppress a detected fire with a minimumamount of pure water. The FOGTEC highpressure water mist technology iscapable of attaining the protective aimsin respect of limiting the fire spread,lowering the temperatures and partlywashing out away the smoke like noother fire fighting method. This is achie-ved by using a minimum amount ofwater, thus having a direct effect on pro-blems pertaining to pipeline dimensio-ning, containing the extinguishing waterand the risk involved with combustibleliquids.
