    London College of Science and Technology provides educational and Skills Development services for Local and overseas students in a welcoming atmosphere. LCST is dedicated to the provision of a first class learning experience that will equip the student with the skills, ability and knowledge to successfully compete in their chosen discipline.     London College of Science and Technology is a newly established college with a very focus and professional approach, which is to be the leaders of quality education for the students around the globe. LCST provides high quality tuition of Business Management, Hospitality, Tourism and Health and Social Care programmes developed and assessed by the best awarding organisations.     Affiliation, Partnership, and Education Cooperation/ Collaborative programmes are being sought with various UK Universities including the Open College, Distance Learning, Online Education, External Degree and Bona fide degree Programs. All staff members continue to update themselves in training and various seminars to ensure quality education for all our students.

    TEACHING METHODS AND LEARNING DEPLOYMENT

    Teaching and learning at LCST should take place through a wide variety of methods and styles. Programmes should be lively, highly participative and interactive, encouraging students to challenge ideas, views and beliefs. This approach provides the most effective form of teaching and learning, as it caters for the many different learning styles students will bring with them to the college.

    The amount of time spent in formal teaching sessions varies according to which programme students are following, whether it is full or part-time; distance learning, short courses, work based studies or professional courses.

Our students are not only guaranteed a good standard of academic education with highly valued qualifications but can experience tailored support that will help them every step of the way. Course Essentials classes provide students with key study skills that are vital to achieving excellent grades. The courses themselves are purposely designed to be practically-oriented, helping students to gain real skills and not just a theoretical knowledge of each subject.

    All LCST course fees are very competitive within the quality private higher education market and much lower than traditional universities. The campuses, fixtures and fittings, and multi-media resources for teaching and learning are of the highest quality and specification. There are three academic intakes per year for most courses, and full time courses are typically timetabled over three or two days a week.

    How to Register Please note LCST only has places available in the Autumn 2015 and Spring 2015 for students studying at QCF level 4 or above. This means that in order to enrol for your course you must meet the entry criteria required by the Awarding body in the subject you intend to study. In most cases you will be required to demonstrate that you have qualifications at A level or an equivalent QCF level 3 standard. Approved English Language Qualifications Applicants from non majority English speaking countries must have a Home Office approved English language qualification before starting a programme of study at LCST. You should check the ukba website for the most up to date criteria and to ensure you send the right proof of test with your application. If your English meets the standard required for entry to the UK, but if we find it is not sufficiently advanced to enable you to follow your course of study we reserve the right to request you undertake an English Language course before continuing in your subject area. Please note that from 21 April 2012, the issue of a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) by a Tier 4 sponsor is partly dependant on the level of English Language proficiency you demonstrate, as required by the Home Office. Level B1 of the Secure English Language Test (link below) is for lower qualifications on QCF Levels 4 and 5 (less than degree level courses), which only secures applicants approximately a one year 2 months visa. Level B2 of the Secure English Language Test (link below) is for qualifications on QCF Level 6 (i.e. degree level courses) and above, which secures applicants approximately a three years 4 months visa. A list of Secure English Language Test providers and required grades you must achieve are available from - http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/partners-other-family/english-tests-partners.pdf You must sit and pass one (1) of the tests listed above to qualify for the issue of a CAS.

    Upon receipt of your application we will assess whether your qualifications meet the minimum standard laid down by HOME OFFICE (Home Office). We may check the validity of your qualifications and we will assess the information you have given us in your application form. Where your qualifications and application meet the minimum standard for entry to a course, we will offer you an interview, either in person or by telephone or Skype, before accepting you for a course at the College.

    If you are offered a place to study at LCST, it will be subject to payment of your fees/deposit.

    It is important that you check the visa requirements with the British embassy in your country. You will be expected to be able to show that you have sufficient funds to enable you to study in the UK (see guidelines for entry into the UK).

    COURSE DATES

    TERM SESSION DATE AUTUMN SEPTEMBER 01/09/2014 SPRING JANUARY 12/01/2015 SUMMER APRIL 13 /04/2015 Payment of fees When you receive an offer of a place to study at LCST, you must pay in advance a minimum deposit of 2000 or full fee (plus administrative fee (150) and bank charges) through bank transfer. Please send a copy of your receipt and/or complete a payment advice form from our website so that we can ensure that your money has been received. A small fee for external, professionally accredited examinations will become payable during the course of each academic year. Students will be expected to purchase books relevant to their studies and to join a library for which there may be a charge.

    All outstanding fees must be paid on the first day of arrival at the college. If the college enters into an agreement with the student to allow payment by instalments then an additional charge of 50 per term will become payable.

  • If, for whatever reason, a student is unable to start the course by the registration date on his/her enrolment letter, the college must be notified in advance by registered letter or receipted email/fax. Failure to do so would invalidate any possible refund.

    Please note that we do not accept payments by credit card.

    Refunds Policy The Registration fee is not refundable. Tuition fees, less a 150 administration and student placement cost, are only refundable if a student has been refused entry or a Visa to enter the United Kingdom. A refund will be made provided that all following conditions are met:

    The student or his/her representative has informed LCST by registered letter, email, or receipted fax of the students inability to start the course by the registration date on his/her enrolment letter

    The student has not yet entered the United Kingdom LCST is provided with a copy of the letter, issued by the British High Commission/Embassy,

    confirming the refusal of the Visa application The student is not awaiting the outcome of an appeal against the refusal of his/her visa

    application or has notified LCST by registered letter, email, or receipted fax within two months of the date of an Appeal Tribunal Judgment

    The registration letters and receipt for fees paid are returned to LCST in their original form No false documentation or misinformation, as assessed by HOME OFFICE officials or LCST

    staff, has been tendered by the student during the visa application process The student is unable to meet new visa requirements introduced after the student CAS was

    issued The student has not been refused a visa on grounds of insufficient funds, having made a

    statement to the College that sufficient funds are available.

    Guidelines for entry into the UK The HOME OFFICE has introduced a points-based system for entry into the UK.

    This means that, in addition to a valid passport, students will be expected to show that they have the required number of points to be allocated a visa.

    Students will gain points by showing:

    That they have a confirmed place at a recognised educational establishment which has been accredited by a HOME OFFICE approved accreditation agency

    That they have evidence of sufficient funds to pay their fees and living expenses during the first year of their studies. The HOME OFFICE requirement is that students should be able to

  • demonstrate that they have a minimum of 1020 per month or 9,180 per year in addition to their College fees. This money is in addition to any income earned by the student during the course of their studies in the UK.

    These guidelines are not a comprehensive list of requirements and you must make your own enquiries at the British Embassy.

    THE BUSINESS STUDIES DEPARTMENT

    The Business Studies Department offers Association of Business Studies (ABE) programmes leading to internationally respected and accredited qualifications. Students on these programmes come from a wide range of backgrounds, bringing with them appropriate prior learning experience.

    The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is a professional organisation offering public examinations in Business Management (Business, financial and Information Systems Pathways), Human Resource Management, Marketing Management and Travel and Tourism at diploma levels 4-6. To sit these examinations you have to become a member of the ABE, and the College will assist students in applying for membership. A small membership fee will apply. Successful LCST Business Studies Students gain internationally recognised ABE qualifications.

    ABE examinations are accepted by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

    Course Subjects:

    Entry requirements Students must demonstrate competence in English Language to Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and must be able to show evidence of having gained qualifications at level 3 of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) GCE, A level or equivalent. ABE Level 5 Diploma in Business Management This programme enables students to develop analytical skills and a deeper understanding of the business and management problems covered at Diploma level 4. ABE Level 5 Diploma Course Subjects: 6 Core and 2 optional Units (8 Total) Core:

    Quantitative Methods for Business and Management Human Resource Management Financial Accounting Organisational Behaviour. The Business Environment Marketing Policy, Planning and Communication

    Optional: Principles of Business Law. Managerial Accounting. Economics for Business Managing the Customer Relationship Entrepreneurship and Business Development

    On completion of the level 5 diploma programme, students will be well qualified to progress to either the level 6 diploma, the second year of a BA Hons degree at a British University, further professional development or appropriate employment.

    Entry requirements ABE Certificate or Two A level passes plus four GCSE passes at grade A-C, two of which must be English and Maths. or Overseas qualifications which, following University of London or QCF guidelines, may be accepted by ABE as being equivalent to the above. ABE Level 6 Diploma in Business Management This level 6 qualification equips students to continue their studies before completing the final year of an Hons degree or a Post- Graduate qualification, either at a University or through distance learning.     The Level 6 Diploma examination papers are set and marked at QCF level 6, equivalent to degree level of a UK Business Studies University degree programme.

    Entry requirements ABE level 5 diploma in Business Administration or Higher National Diploma

    Travel and Tourism The Travel and Tourism Department offers Association of Business Executives (ABE) programmes leading to internationally respected and accredited qualifications. It offers those with an interest in travel and tourism an opportunity to gain a relevant qualification and skills required for employment in this area.

    The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is a professional organisation offering public examinations in Business Administration and Travel and Tourism at diploma levels 4-6. To sit these examinations you have to become a member of the ABE, and the College will assist students in applying for membership. A small membership fee will apply.

    Successful LCST Travel Industry Students gain internationally recognised ABE qualifications. Students completing their Level 5 Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management are invited by several British Universities to apply for the second year of a BA (Hons) Degree programme in Tourism Management.

    ABE examinations are accepted by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

    ABE Level 4 Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Course Subjects:

    Success in these examinations qualifies the student to progress to either further study at higher diploma level or appropriate employment.

    ATHE ATHE specialises in Management across a range of sectors including Business and Health & Social Care and Travel and Tourism. ATHE works closely with universities to ensure learners have direct progression routes to degrees including MBA top ups.
