trip in the summ

er, you may visit the sum

mer scene

in Vyšehrad with a dram

atic program from

May to

September. The area around Vyšehrad is attractive

for relaxation and contemplation, strong w

ith the atm

osphere of old Czech history. From Vyšehrad,

you can then proceed through the Congress centre to the N

usle Bridge and after a short while you’ll

come to Folim

anka park. From there, you’ll easily

get back to the Rašín riverbank, where you started

this journey.

people on roller skates and runners. In the summ

er months, it’s very busy and passing betw

een skaters and m

oms w

ith prams is a challenge for cyclists. W

e suggest an alternative - the route through H

odkovičky, Lhotka, Kamýk and M

odřany. The cycle route leading along the Vltava of-fers a variety of attractions and sporting opportunities: footbal golf (or…”m

ove the footbal ball into a hole”), rope clim

bing centre, scooter rental, beach volleyball, etc. The deviation route to H

odkovičky is peaceful, outside of the main vacationers’ routes. The H

odkovičky – Lhotka route does not offer any grandiose attraction. It’s a quiet section, com

bining a cycling route w

ith peaceful streets. Pay increased attention in particular when crossing to the M

odřany val-ley, w

here it’s necessary to pass through busy streets: Mariánská, U

Kamýku and D

urychova. You’ll get to the M

odřany valley pretty easily, this route is well m

arked. The important part is

the Modřany valley itself, w

here an educational route with nature topics is prepared. This route

is mainly for parents w

ith children, where m

ost of the stops are equipped with the identifica-

tion of plants, animals and rocks. A properly prepared educational route catches the attention

of adults as well. M

odřany valley is a place worth visiting, w

here in a mom

ent you’ll find your-self betw

een the trees and rocks, listening to the Libuše stream in the background, so for a

mom

ent you’ll actually forget that you’re in Prague. The route descends to Modřany relatively

quickly, where it is follow

ed by the well-know

n A2 cycle route around Vltava.

This tourist circuit combines the Prokop Valley w

ith Chuchle G

rove, which form

part of the precious natural Prague ar-eas. These areas serve m

ainly for relaxation, so don’t expect any cultural events here. O

ne interesting part is the prague sem

mering train viaduct, w

hich you can enjoy the most as

a train passenger using railway track N

o. 122. Prokop Valley is a deep river valley w

ith Devonian and Silurian lim

estone. There are the residues of therm

ophilic woods, old lim

estone quarries and m

eadows that previously served as grazing

land. You can find here an outdoor gym, public fireplaces

and comfortable taverns w

ith refreshment. The entire natu-

ral reservation has one huge advantage – it’s not as well-

known as the other natural beauties of Prague, therefore you

won’t find a large num

ber of visitors here and it’s relatively peaceful. Travelling betw

een the Prokop Valley and Chuchle G

rove is not that attractive as you have to travel through the Barrandov housing estate and the A 112 cycle route w

ith unpaved terrain. In the Chuchle G

rove, you can visit the malá

chuchle zoo corner with injured anim

als that are unable to return to nature. You’ll find birds and sm

all predators here. You shouldn’t m

iss the church of st. john nepom

uk with

a scenic view of the river. In Chuchle G

rove, there is also an educational route focused not just on natural science topics, but it also inform

s you of historical buildings and activities w

ithin the area of Velká and Malá Chuchle. If you choose this

circuit, you’ll be amazed. But prepare for a tougher ascent

up the hill in Velká Chuchle or Klukovice (depends on your direction).
