Project LeadershipClass of 2019
WHO WE ARE:Project Leadership, a Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce program, designed to bring local business people together to develop leadership skills. These community minded individuals come together to develop volunteer leadership skills and business awareness. Each year, the class selects a community benefit project to assist a local non-profit organization to enhance the community and residents of the Roseburg area.
THE PROJECT:The Family Development Center Exploration Garden project will provide the following long term benefits to the students, parents, and the community:
• Create stable attached relationships with parents which increases social skills and enhances emotional coping skills
• Increased family investment in outdoor activity develops empathy, increased sense of community, and an appreciation of nature
• Teaches parents and students life lessons through Nature’s Cycles
• Teaches interactive play
• Prevents Nature Deficit Disorder
• Encourages healthy lifestyle choices through gardening
