Each project / office or accounting unit is identified by three alpha letters code

Currently code are being allotted on random basis.

CODE SCHEME

For allotment of Project Code, we will follow the phonetic sound of “Major Activity” in sequence, provided that the same letter has not already been allotted to any other sub - activity, in such a case the next sound letter will be used as first letter of code.

First letter of every code will represent the “major activity plus sub - activity”.

Second & Third letters of the code are unique for each project within the relevant sub - activity and these letters represent the name of the project.

Explanation: First letter of the Proposed Code “D” represents “Feasibility Study of a Dam” and Second & Third letter “AA” represents the Name of the Project. In this way “DAA” will be project accounting code. The next Code for Feasibility Study of any other Dam will be “DAB”, here also “D” represents feasibility study of the Dam and “AB” will represent the specific name of that project. Then next code for feasibility of other Dams will be “DAC”, “DAD” to “DAZ. “DBA”, “DBB” to “DBZ” and so on.

Then next code for construction of others Dams will be “AAC”, “AAD” to “AAZ”, “ABA”, “ABB” to “ABZ” and so on.

The next Code for Operation & Maintenance of any other Dam will be “MAB”, here first letter “M” represents Operation & Maintenance of the Dam and “AB” will represent the specific name of that project. Then next code for construction of others Dams will be “MAC”, “MAD” to “MAZ”, “MBA”, “MBB” to “MBZ” and so on.
