VALG TIL PROFILFAG 3. PERIODE 2015-16

Aim for the 3. Period profile subjects

1. The theme of this period is Formation. Formation should be understood as the personal progress, in relation to the stu-

dent’s conception of self, connection to other youths and adults, opinionating to social conditions and especially to dif-

ferent ways of living and different cultures. Thereby the experiences from the first period and the second period are

combined in the third period. The subject’s course for the third period will be based around a nature sport- and/or a

imagination activity which will be combined with a cultural perspective on the last profile subject journey. Therefore the

profile subjects will focus on the individual development in relation to self-esteem, friendship, common interests,

knowledge on other youth’s lives and knowledge on conditions in other cultures.

2. The schools values aims to prepare the students to be able to handle a complex and changing world. Therefore, the

profile subject shall be formed in cooperation between the students and the teachers, from the grounds of the theme

formation. It is our experience that complexity and changeability in life, is best obtained by getting out of one’s comfort

zone together, while having a strong community and open mind towards others.

3. We are a modern school, and the activities creating community must be sensible for both teachers and students. The

profile subjects forms strong common interests, which brings students and adults together on a unique development

journey. Our experiences are that the supervising community, which occurs between the students and adults on the

profile journey, is the ultimate room for learning, as it gives the students courage and desire to take charge for their life.

4. Our focus is on the individual student’s development, while respecting the community. The students and the teachers

are very different individuals and through the year there are several different priorities and aims, which all correspond

with the main aim of development and education in a binding community. Therefore our focus has been on encouraging

different interests and as before many new and exciting suggestions for profile subjects and expeditions has been made.

For that reason, the user payment for the different profile journeys differentiates.

The process towards forming the profile subjects:

Students and teachers have suggested and prepared different suggestions to profile subjects. The interest towards the ideas

has been tested at two rounds of surveys. From this we have found the 26 profile subjects, which can be found in this maga-

zine, that are on the final survey, where the student decides from. Thereby must students should be able to get their first prior-

ity. If a student for some reason is not getting their first or second priority, they will have the possibility to reelect.

You can read more about the profile subjects – and get inspiration by looking at the pictures and videos

on the homepage.

ECONOMIC AND PAYMENT

1. rate must be payed at the confirmation of the profile subject—and latest at 3.January 2016

THE SUBSCRIBTION TO THE PROFILE SUBEJCT ARE NOT FINAL UNTIL THE 1. RATE THAVE BEEN PAYED.

(Except the subjects, without user payment)

The cancellation insurance on 350,-kr., must be payed at the same time as the 1. rate—write it on the payment

2. rate must be payed latest at the 1. of marts 2016

The user payment on the profile subject depends on the final economy for the trip and often the airline ticket is

decisive. Therefore, the 2. rate are not final until we know this expense. We aim to adapt the prices to the esti-

mated prices which can be found in the description of the profile subject.

Reselection, drop out etc.: The expenses, the school has had and which cannot be refunded, will be charged in

case of a reselection or in case of a student dropping out of the school (no matter the reason).

Our aim is that all students are able to travel according to their interests, but there will always be an economic

concern and it is always necessary to priorities. A large part of the students will contribute to the user payment

and the allowance. It is instructive to have conversations about choice, economics and how they can contribute

and prioritize throughout the year.

Individual support: We would like to get into a dialog with the students and families, what might have economic

challenges related to user payment. This means, that the student, parents and school together finds an

individual solution for economic support and an evt. installment plan. The application form is available at the

office and the application will be processed by the superintended and the financial department.

Safety on the profile journeys: We follow the Danish ministry of foreign affairs’ recommendations and advises

parents and students to do the same. On the travels, the staffing is high and often we bring extra helpers. These

can be “Youth guides”, which are former students; they have great knowledge about how we travel and the aim

of the travels. At the homepage under Study trip you can find a safety procedure for all the trips for this period.

Travel insurances: The school have taken out travel insurance, which compliments the yellow insurance card,

and the families’ own travel insurances, but the students luggage is not covered by the schools insurances.

The School offers a collective “cancellation insurance”, which covers the user payment. This can be slightly high-

er on the long journeys. As it is a collective pool, the compensation can maximum be a fairly share of the collect-

ed pool and the user payments is max.

The collective insurance is paid together with the first rate. The price is 350,-kr.

cinated. Please check www.sikkerrejse.dk/vaccinationsanbefaling. For more information. Make an ap-

CUBA Pioneer—Lets explore and bond with a different culture

User charges: ca. 8500,-kr. Incl. Visa —1. Rate 4500,-kr Deadline for payments January 3h on account 9202 0000138622 + a selectable collective cancellations insurance kr. 350,-kr. 2. Rate 4000,-kr. Before march 1st.

With its characteristic history and unique culture, Cuba is an obvious travel destination, which Ranum Efterskole

College, for the first time plans to visit.

Since 1959, where the communistic control took over after the revolution, Cuba

has more or less been living separated from the rest of the world. The historical

background makes the country a unique travel destination; some even describes

the experience as traveling back in time. However, don’t be fooled – the Cubans

are a highly informed about the rest of the world and especially the youths are

very interested in the western culture. The Cuban culture, is however still char-

acteristic and loved by all Cubans. Especially the Cuban dancing and music are

matchless. African, Spanish and American culture have provide a dynamic mix,

where especially the salsa is known and loved on the dancefloors around the

world, and is danced or played by more or less all in Cuba.

In the preparation for the trip, you can help form the class: What will we focus

on in the cultural exchange with the youth from the country? What is our

approach when we contact the different schools and youth clubs, in the aim of

collaboration? What academic angels will we include – e.g. history, Spanish polit-

ical theory, their educational system etc.? Which experiences and activities shall

we explore? music, the Cuban national sport baseball, dancing, nature experi-

ences, UNs world heritage sites or whatever suggestions you have…

A suggestion for the journey could be that we stay in Havana during the main

part of the stay to be able to do some of the activities which are suggested

above. Take a day or two to visit Trinidad, which is located on the south of the Island, as it, just like Havana’s old

center, is found on UNs list of world heritage sites, as et is one of the world’s best kept Spanish colonies from that

period. Here it is also possible to visit a beautiful nature site with short mountains, sugarcane fields and waterfalls.

If you like to cooperate with youths from a different culture and look forward to get some incredible experiences from an untouched community, the Cuba Pioneer is just the profile subject for you.

The country, is one of the Caribbean

Islands, on are located only 350km

from Miami, was originally a Spanish

colony. In1898, the Island was con-

curred by the USA, and during the

first half of the 1900s a popular trav-

el destination, and a place where the

Americans could gamble, in 1959

there were 13 casinos in the country.

This year Fidel Castros rebel army

captured the country along with

among others Che Guevara, and ever

since the country have had a commu-

nistic one party system. The coopera-

tion with the USSR, influenced that

the USA initiated a trade embargo

against the country – this is why we

to this day can see 50s cars, which

are used to both taxies and private

transportation, and in general the

economy today is still marked by

communism and the lack of coopera-

tion with the West.

we together with the local Chinese people will join their

morning workout, consisting of singing, dancing, Tai Chi and

Strength.

We will visit the international school in Beijing, where we will cooperate with their dancing class, and perform our

performance show for them. We will also visit a classic Chinese school and get an insight into their school culture.

Here we will also dance with their dancing class. In Beijing we will visit different dancing schools, where we will

receive training. We will make flash mobs different places such as at the Great Wall. We will experience traditional

ern in Beijing and the true Chinese culture.

In this profile subject we combine the interests for photos, photographing with different cameras with going on a

“safari” in a large European city.

We work with photo technics and will get a good hand on the

equipment, so that we knows how to focus on the theme,

motive and history in the picture.

We will work with the theory behind photographing, motives

and tricks. And we are part of organizing the third photo com-

petition. We will work with making prints of pictures in large

scales, creating digital reenactments and we might have the

to Santiago de Compostela and perhaps to Fisterra. We will take the old pilgrimage

route, and follow the footprints of people from across Europe, as it have been walked since the Middle ages. At that
