A production company is a company that may be directly responsible for fundraising for the production of film or TV series. It handles budgeting, scheduling, scripting, the supply with talent and resources, the organization of staff, the production itself, post-production, distribution, and marketing.

Production companies are often either owned or under contract with a media conglomerate, film studio, entertainment company, or Motion Picture Company, who act as the production company's partner or parent company. For instance 20th Century Fox’s parent company is Fox film entertainment. The companies also make sure that their ident different to others by their own soundtrack to accompany the picture which would also be recognizable as well as maybe catchy.

An effective ident is one that is recognisable and significant compared to others so it becomes well known as it stays the same ident on every film with a little twist due to the film genre and title itself. 20th Century Fox uses a very simple ident as it’s a basic old fashioned statue on a building with beaming lights to make it stand out. However they do change it to fit the film such as the Simpsons by adding a funny animation to go with it of what may me the main characters. This film ident changes its ident in different ways so the viewer’s know straight away what sort of genre it is before we see the title.

I would choose LIONSGATE productions to create our thriller because the effect of the turning wheels and the doors opening could make the audience feel tense before the film has even started which would add more of a tense atmosphere to the opening titles because of it being built up during the production company shot. I would also choose this company as it produces many other thrillers such as ‘The Hunger Games’ which makes it a suitable choice as a thriller is a main genre that they produce so there would be no trouble in producing our thriller because of their experience
