a. INSERTION DIRECTION (Tooth Supported Template)

Define the working direction (pass insertion) to calculate

and display undercut areas in yellow and red color

4

document version 181120 for smop version 2.14.2

a. Clamps (Tooth Supported Template)

Clamps are generated to click and fix the template onto the

teeth of the patient

5

document version 181120 for smop version 2.14.2

a. LINGUAL WIRE (Tooth Supported Template)

The lingual/palatal wire is created to stabilize and stiffen

the entire template

6

document version 181120 for smop version 2.14.2

a. BUCCAL WIRE (Tooth Supported Template)

The buccal wire is used to stiffen the template (like to

the oral wire).

Contact points of the wire should be set on every second or third tooth

7

a. ARCHES (Tooth Supported Template)

Arches are used to connect the lingual/palatal wires to ensure

better stiffness

8

a. SLEEVE SUPPORT (Tooth Supported Template)

The shape and size of sleeve support rings can be adjusted:The implant, the corresponding surgical kit and the neighboring

teeth should be considered

9

a. IMPRINT NAME (Tooth Supported Template)

The name of the template, which can be edited during the

template design, will be imprinted automatically to the

visible side on the longest available arch of the template

a. FINAL CALCULATION (Tooth Supported Template)

The final template calculation combines all the designed

features into one closed surface (STL-data), ready for printing

b. MUCOSA SUPPORT (Soft Tissue Supported)

Mucosa supports can be used to provide additional support,

if there are no teeth available to fix the

template in the patient mouse

13

c. PLAN EXTRA SCREW (Soft Tissue Supported)

SMOP’s geometry library contains geometries for bone

retention screws under different brands

22

c. PLAN EXTRA SCREW (Soft Tissue Supported)

The parameters can easily be changed using the edit fields of

the middle toolbar, the width and length of the holding/guiding

plastic cylinders. Outer diameter should be 0.3mm wider than the

screw diameter

2. BENEFITS OF SMOP - KEY FEATURE SMOP TEMPLATE

Accurate fitting in the patient mouse by using contact points on pre-defined locations (on tooth or gingiva):

Inaccurate fitting by design procedures provided by other software:

2. BENEFITS OF THE SMOP TEMPLATE

• Full visibility on the surgical site

• Better control of the fit

• Allows cooling agent so water going into the osteotomy site reduces the frequency of pumping technique

• Easy to raise a flap

• Easier accessibility for surgical instrument insertion

• Reducing drastically the possibility of errors and distortions due to support the template only on selected stable points on

the teeth and not covering the full surface on the teeth

• This kind of balcony design will keep the flap away from the drill, but no excessive opening/exposure of the flap due to

our guide will not be necessary in contact with that gums

• Extra stabilization due to the use of palatal area. This feature “mucosa support” allows a clinician to proceed with surgery

without a need for further extra stabilization accessories such as pins or screws

• Depending on the implant system and its surgical kit no metal sleeve is needed to guide the drill (e.g. Straumann, Astra,

SIC…). The spoon of the kit can directly be plugged into the plastic-whole of the template. This increases the accuracy of

the drilling and reduces costs by saving the sleeves

Patented best template worldwide. Why the light and open “Spaghetti” design?

The smop Template is optimized to be manufactured by 3D printing technology

Swissmeda has had good experiences using the Polyjet printers from Stratasys with the certified material MED610

There are a lot more 3D printers on the market supporting medical resin (e.g. Nextdent SG):

Please note, Swissmeda has no experience with the listed examples and can’t give any recommendation.
