Tablas Women Preserving Art and CultureTraditional Weaving

Tablas Island in Romblon is rich in Pandan Trees, that defines the shorelines of the Island.Traditional crafts from the leaves of this tree have been handed down from generation to generation. Whether they are the traditional mats, hats or baskets, the skills are imbedded in the beings of a Tablasanon woman.Weaving a mat, a hat or a basket is a long intricate process that takes years to practice and a passion not only to create these true works of arts but also preserving a great cultural heritage. The products from the Pandan leaves are tough and strong. The epitome of a Tablas Woman who can withstand and face the challenges of life and time.
