EFFICIENT PRODUCTIONWITH MINIMUMENVIRONMENTALIMPACTNLMK Group has invested over $1 billion into environmental projects over the last decade. Over this period, NLMK’s output has almost doubled, and the company has become the largest steel producer in Russia. Today, NLMK accounts for 22% of all Russian steel.
Against the background of increased production volumes, NLMK Group’s continual focus on reducing its environmental footprint and implementing the most advanced technologies allowed the company to more than halve its air emissions, approaching the levels of the best available technologies (BAT). NLMK has completely stopped waste water discharge and industrial waste accumulation.
In May 2014, NLMK Group announced the new stage in its Environmental Programme 2020. It is aimed at further minimizing NLMK’s environmental footprint and achieving the best possible environmental standards in global steel production.

Being a part of NLMK Group, Long products Division is one of the biggest manufacturers of long products and metalware on the Russian market. The production structure of NLMK-Long includes capacities that form a closed production cycle from collection and processing of scrap ferrous metals to production of high conversion steel products — reinforcing bars and shaped rolled products, wire rod and metalware.
NLMK-Long’s basic enterprises:
• NSMMZ — electrical steel-making production and production of long products;
• NLMK-Metalware — metalware production;
• NLMK-Kaluga — Electrical steel-making production, production of long products and sections.
NLMK Group’s long products division (NLMK-Long) manufactures reinforcement bars, U-rods, angles, wire rod, wire and fastening products. At present, NKMK-Long accounts for about 20% of the reinforcing bar market and 22% of the metalware market.
Vtorchermet NLMK is the biggest chain of scrap collecting and scrap processing enterprises operating in 33 Russian regions. Vtorchermet NLMK has a wide geographical presence and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, which allows it to satisfy 80% of NLMK’s needs in high-quality raw materials. ABOUTPRODUCTION
14 NLMK GROUP PRODUCT CATALOGUE
NSMMZ — Nizhneserginskiy metalware-metallurgical plant is situated in the town of Revda, Sverdlovsk region, and manufactures square continuously cast billets (CCB). This is NLMK-Long’s core site. It supplies billets to long products rolling facilities located in the towns of Nizhniye Sergi and Beryozovsky.
Nizhniye Sergi site produces rebar in rods. Square concast billet produced in Revda by rolling at Mill 250, becomes a high-quality reinforcing bar designed to armour reinforced concrete structures and to manufacture parts of complex shape bearing dynamic loads.
NSMMZ’s rolling shop in Beryozovsky manufactures wire rod and reinforcing bars in coils. The production facility has the most advanced equipment and state-of-the-art rolling technologies which allow it to make products from a wide range of steel grades of high strength class with low content of scale and stable mechanical properties.

Angles are manufactured with a length of 4 to 12 m of:• specific cut length;• specific cut length with off-measurement length not exceeding 5% of the batch weight;• multiple specific cut length;• specific cut length with off-measurement length not exceeding 5% of the batch weight;• off-measurement length;• limited length within off-measurement length.
PACKINGAngles are packed in herringbone bundles with a weight up to 5 t strapped by wire rod with a diameter of 5.5–7 mm in one or two cords, with mandatory twisting. When the products are shipped by rail, the loading rate for a gondola car is 67–69 tonnes.
MARKINGTwo labels shall be attached to each package. Marking on the label shall contain the following: manufacturer’s trademark, heat number, steel grade, angle number, section and its dimension, weight and number of the package, shift symbol.
APPLICATIONAngles under GOST 8509–93 are used in modern construction and other industries for various metal structures where the strength of structural steel GOST 8509-93 is required.

It was the 13th and last metro system to open in the USSR and the first in the Urals. It is the sixth metro system in Russia and the fourth one in terms of passenger flow, after Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
The most modern metro station is Chkalovskaya, which opened in July 2012 and was the ninth station of the first line of Yekaterinburg metro system.
The station’s design is based on the story of Valery Chkalov and his crew’s flight over the North Pole.
The tunnel walls resemble an aircraft fuselage. They are decorated with portraits of the pilots, Valeri Chkalov, Georgy Baydukov and Alexander Belyakov Heroes of the Soviet Union. At the end of the platform there is a clock inspired by onboard instruments showing the current time in Moscow, Arkhangelsk, Vancouver and Washington.
