In 1919, OTC DAIHEN developed, for the fi rst time, new
technologies for the mass production of transformers
for energy distribution. The know-how gained from
there soon led to the expansion of the business seg-
ments:
OTC DAIHEN began developing and manufacturing
high-performance welding machines and industrial

Optimal fi ring control & gap bridging in thin sheet applications
This method makes it possible to control the melting rate, while simultaneously controlling the weld penetration. The improved weld penetration control makes it possible to weld sheets of the thinnest thicknesses. The W 400 produces highly effi cient quality without burnouts, and it is suitable for aluminum, stainless steel and steel applications.(EN = negative electrode, EP = positive electrode)
Thanks to the control of the burn-in, even the thinnest sheet (0.8 mm) can be welded.

The variably adjustable AC frequency of 50 to 200 Hz results in a more concentrated arc for throat seams and I-impacts. With controlled heat input, the weld seam width can be increased for thin-plate throat seam. Due to the modifi ed current profi le, the output current remains constant even at high AC frequency, which allows stable and deep fusion penetration.

AG TIGAC TIG: Aluminum is usually welded with alternating current (AC). The oxide layer is destroyed by the liberating energy (cleaning effect), and in the subsequent minus phase, the uncovered grand material can be melted.
AC/DC TIG: The Hybrid-Pulse mode is a combination of AC-Pulse and DC-Pulse. With this method, it is possible to weld thicker aluminum materials with high-effi cien-cy. The advantages: deep penetration without pre-heating, substantial increase in the lifetime of the electrode, more precise modelling of the seam surface (by using cold wire).
DC TIG: steel, stainless steel, copper, copper alloys, titanium and others are welded with direct current (DC). The welding zone and the arc are protected by separately supplied argon shielding gas.
STANDARD: Rectangular pulse shape in which the peak value of both polarities is the same. Welding operations can be performed in a wide range of sheet thickness-es. Since a stable welding result can be achieved over the entire current bandwidth, this is the most commonly used wave form.
SOFT: Sinusoidal pulse shape in which the peak of both polarities is the same. This produces a soft arc. This is particularly suitable for thin sheets and butt splices. The arc noise is the quietest. The maximum welding current is 200 A.
HARD: Rectangular pulse shape in which the peak of the polarities is different. Through the concentrated arc of the DC/TIG welding, the insertion depth is in-creased. This makes this mode particularly suitable for fi llet welds or the fi rst layer weld in multi-layer welding. Among the three modes, the electrode wear is the low-est, while the arc noise is the loudest.

This method makes it possible to perform more precise welds, even with thick material (keyhole welds) compared to the conventional TIG method. The narrow and deep weld penetration is characteristic of plasma welding.
