“In the face of a fluctuating global market, suppliers should promote their brands and products even more proactively, while distributors and retailers should seek out new competitive products,” said Benjamin Chau, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director. “Showcasing top-quality items and providing a diverse range of choices, the two fairs are the ideal platform for both promoting and sourcing products.” The HKTDC organised a total

of 171 buying missions from 75 countries and regions for the two fairs, comprising more than 13,200 buyers. At the fairground, business matching services were also provided to foster business opportunities and partnership-building. Moreover, in view of the keen demand for small order sourcing, the hktdc.com Small Orders display at the Gifts Fair featured over 360 showcases offering more than 2,500 products available for orders of between five and 1,000 units. A total of 23,000 business

Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair and the International Printing & Packaging Fair Attract 64,000+ Buyers

Survey: Nearly 70% Cautiously Optimistic on Sales Prospects; Chinese Mainland Market Seen as Having Most Growth Potential

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 31st Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair concluded today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The concurrent 11th Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair (27-30 April) also came to a close at AsiaWorld-Expo. The twin fairs together attracted more than 64,000 buyers from 134 countries and regions. Around 50,000 buyers visited the Gifts Fair, while over 14,000 buyers attended the Printing & Packaging Fair. Markets such as the Chinese mainland, Malaysia, the Philippines, Italy and Indonesia saw growth.

connections were generated during the four-day fair. Mr Chau also noted that, during the Gifts Fair the HKTDC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thailand, a key ASEAN country, to strengthen business promotion and cooperation between Hong Kong and Thailand. This includes offering a top-quality promotion platform for Thai products through the HKTDC’s fairs and online promotion services, covering sectors such as garments, fashion accessories, textiles, food and agricultural products. Cautiously optimistic on sales prospects; decorative gifts & figurines to lead market growthThe HKTDC commissioned an independent onsite survey during the Gifts Fair, interviewing some 920 buyers and exhibitors about their views on market prospects and product trends. The survey found that the industry is cautiously optimistic about the gifts market this year. Close to half of the respondents expect overall sales to remain the same in the coming year with 20 per cent expecting sales to improve. Thirty-seven per cent of respondents expect production costs and sourcing costs to increase. More than 60 per cent of respondents, however, do not expect to raise FOB selling prices or retail prices, suggesting that they will not transfer increasing costs to customers. As for the market with the highest growth potential, most respondents pointed to the Chinese mainland, followed by Hong Kong and Korea. The survey also analysed product trends in the gifts and premium market. Most respondents said they expect decorative gifts and figurines to have the strongest growth potential this year, followed by tech gifts and advertising gifts and premium. As for products, the industry generally believes that consumers are increasingly focused on product practicality and quality, followed by their pricing and cosmetic design. Ideal platform for exploring business opportunities & promotion Tian Guofeng, Director, Exhibition Department, China International Center for Economic & Technical Exchanges, Ministry of Commerce, said this was the first time that the Ministry had organised a delegation to the Gifts Fair, comprising 10 companies from Yunnan

Province. “As the Hong Kong fair is not only the world’s largest gifts and premium fair but also the most influential show of its kind, it will help Yunnan manufacturers develop overseas markets,” said Mr Tian. “Exhibitors from Yunnan Province are showcasing a wide variety of high-end products such as metal ware, silverware, wooden gifts, pottery, stone carvings and gunny handbags. Responses from buyers have been very encouraging.” Shosuke Fukushima, Director of Japan Pavilion, Business Guide-Sha, Inc., said that Japanese exhibitors achieved very good results at last year’s fair, so they returned this year with 17 companies joining the Japan Pavilion, the largest-ever such delegation. “Japanese exhibitors are here showcasing all kinds of trendy products such as cosmetics, garments, stationery, toys and video games. The Hong Kong fair is an international trade fair where Japanese exhibitors can talk to many buyers and learn more about the market needs. More importantly, Hong Kong is a key gateway for Japanese companies to look for distributors and retailers from all over the world. We’ll continue to organise the Japan Pavilion next year.” Hong Kong exhibitor Phoebe Wong, Director of Eco Concepts, said it was their fifth time to participate in the fair. The company produces various green products with PLA (polylactic acid). “Through business matching services provided by the HKTDC, we have met with more

buyers from Europe, probably because our products can meet their strict requirements in terms of environmental protection. On the first day of the fair, we have already got an order worth US$9,000 from a Thai buyer,” said Ms Wong. Another Hong Kong exhibitor, Gianna Company Ltd., strives to inject new design elements into products. The company’s Managing Director Lawrence Tong said the market trend towards innovative designs is prevalent. “We received onsite orders worth over HK$2 million in total from long-time clients. We have also established contacts with many potential buyers from various countries at the fair,” said Mr Tong. Meanwhile, at the Printing & Packaging Fair, Hong Kong exhibitor Tommy Yu, Senior Manager of VersaTech Energy Innovation Limited, and Environmental Consultant of The Hong Kong Printers Association, noted cleaner production is the way forward amid growing environmental concerns. The Hong Kong Printers Association made good use of the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair to promote new technology for cleaner production. “Many large-sized printers have taken the task seriously and we want to encourage more SMEs to join the wave through the exhibition. In the first few hours of exhibition, about 50 visitors including printing-related companies from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, the Philippines and Taiwan approached us. They showed

keen interest in how new technology in cleaner production can work for printers.” New products and onsite ordersSia Yew Ming, Senior Corporate and Trade Marketing Manager, Mediacorp TV Singapore Pte Ltd, was a first-time visitor to the Gifts Fair. She came looking to develop products that are related to their TV programmes with a view to selling them to consumers through convenience stores and book shops in Singapore. She said that, with so many suppliers at the fair, there was a great variety of products at competitive prices. She said she placed an order of 500 units of USBs and 500 units of power banks on the second day of the fair. “I have found a lot of new ideas and new products here. I have found 10 potential suppliers and will follow up after the show,” she said. Barama is an importer and wholesaler of stationery, paper products, school bags and toys in Argentina. This year was their seventh visit to the Hong Kong Gifts

& Premium Fair. Alex Leibovich, Manager of Barama, said they were looking for school products and new suppliers. “So far, we have identified three new suppliers of paper products and punchers at the fair, and we have already placed onsite orders for US$20,000 worth of paper products and US$13,000 worth of punchers.” B. Food Product International from Thailand sells food products domestically as well as to different markets worldwide including Asia and Europe under two major brands S-Pure and BETAGRO. Sakhorn Jullarat, the company’s Product and Process Development Director, said, “We put strong emphasis on the quality and safety of the food we produce every day. This is our first visit to the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair. We’ve already found five potential suppliers for packaging items that will be used for our frozen and chilled food products. We can find a lot of interesting packaging products and ideas here. We would like to visit the fair again next year.”

Informa Exhibitions today announced further details of its plans for IPEX 2017. In addition to the innovative pricing strategy for exhibitors already announced with inclusive power and lifting arrangements, and stand size limits aimed at improving the user experience, the organisation has begun to announce how it will deliver on its promise to exhibitors of an industry-focused, value for money exhibition drawing international visitors to the NEC.

Rob Fisher, Event Director of IPEX, said; “The printing industry has seen huge technological and organisation changes over the last decade. Some applications of print have diminished, while others

have expanded in quality, volume and impact. People interact differently with print these days, and both specifiers of print and consumers of printed products have very different expectations of what it can do. We are planning an event that will show how every aspect of printing can become more relevant today than ever before.”

IPEX 2017 covers all applications of printing – from signage and advertising through to packaging of finished products – and will help production staff from print management companies, design and marketing agencies, learn the latest capabilities of printers and print technology. The exhibition, covering all kinds of print, will help printers understand what the creative industries

will expect of them over the next three years and beyond.

Rob Fisher continued; “We’ve been clear in our vision from day one that this exhibition will show print in action. That’s not just something we are leaving up to our exhibitors. We will have a series of features designed to strengthen the link between the creative and print industries by showing both the capabilities of the latest technologies, and the skills both groups need to learn to make the most of those capabilities, whether those are technical, marketing or management skills.”

Dr Brian Minards, principal of Harrogate and London-based design consultants Minards Associates, and Professor in the School of Advertising at Academy of Art University, San Francisco, said;

“I have been attending IPEX for many years. It’s always been an excellent forum to learn about the latest ways that designers can use print and print techniques to deliver innovative advertising and packaging. Print is where design meets the real world, so to my mind it is vital that designers learn what it can do for them. The NEC makes the event easily accessible to all the main creative hubs around the UK, as well London, so I’m looking forward to seeing what innovations IPEX 2017 will have on show.”

IPEX 2017 takes place from 31st October to 3rd November, 2017 at the NEC in Birmingham, and is the UK’s largest and only truly international print show.

“Drupa 2016 will be remembered as the inflection point in the industry’s transition from mechanical printing to digital. In the past, digital printing

vendors had to try to convince the market that digital is the way to go. Previously it was a ‘push’ selling motion,” says Benny Landa, Chairman. “Now, for the first time, the situation has reversed. There is a very strong ‘pull’ from the market, driven by both customers and brand-owners, who are now demanding digital printing. It seems that the market leaders – in packaging, commercial printing and in publishing – have come to the realization that they simply must go digital.”

“For Landa Digital Printing, this market awakening has

been particularly rewarding, as reflected in the substantial number of orders which we took at Drupa. Customers are telling us that no one comes even close to matching our quality, speed, substrate independence and print cost, which combine to create a tremendous value proposition.”Landa’s remarkable theater presentations, “Nano. The Power of Small.”, were fully booked days in advance and seen by 40,000 attendees.

Between theater presentations, there were live product demonstrations throughout the large arcade area of the Landa stand, with customers lining up to receive print samples after each demo. Each product demo was streamed to large video screens as hundreds jammed the demonstrations. Enthusiastic customers described the live demos as “awesome”, “this changes everything” and “Landa is light years ahead of the others.”

Landa, Benny Landa, Chairman

drupa 2016 will be remembered asthe inflection point in the industry’stransition from mechanical printing todigital. In the past, digital printingvendors had to try to convince themarket that digital is the way to go.Previously it was a ‘push’ sellingmotion.

Now, for the first time, the situationhas reversed. There is a very strong‘pull’ from the market, driven byboth customers and brand-owners,who are now demanding digitalprinting. It seems that the marketleaders – in packaging, commercialprinting and in publishing – havecome to the realization that theysimply must go digital. For LandaDigital Printing, this market awakeninghas been particularly rewarding, as

reflected in the substantial numberof orders which we took at drupa.Customers are telling us that no onecomes even close to matching ourquality, speed, substrate indepen-dence and print cost, whichcombine to create a tremendousvalue proposition.

Dr. Zsófia Gyarmathy has received the drupa Prize 2016 for herdoctoral thesis on a special grammar phenomenon in the Englishlanguage so far not sufficiently researched by science. drupa

recognised the 32-year old Hungarian for her doctoral thesis “Achievements,Durativity and Scales”. The prize comes with EUR 6,000 prize money andwas presented by Claus Bolza-Schünemann (Chairman of the ManagementBoard at Koenig & Bauer AG and Chairman of the drupa committee), WernerM. Dornscheidt (President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf) and Prof. Dr. AnjaSteinbeck (Chancellor of Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf) as part of aceremony held on 9 June at the Düsseldorf Congress Center Ost/East duringdrupa 2016.

In his laudatory speech Claus Bolza-Schünemann praised the prize-winner’sachievement considered extraordinary by a jury of experts. In addition towhat is considered an extremely impressive work overall Dr. ZsófiaGyarmathy has succeeded in demonstrating the significance of “achieve-ments” both in semantics and philosophy and mathematics but also in thedevelopment of artificial intelligence. The young scientist found an innovativeapproach to solving the scientifically much debated but so far insufficientlysolved problem by subjecting several achievements to a “slow-motionobservation”. Taking this approach even a non-continuous fact can bedescribed in continuous form. On the basis of this theory the prize-winnerdeveloped a mathematical calculation model allowing achievements to becaptured and processed in their strictly formally logical sense. With her work, the jury adds, Dr. Zsófia Gyarmathy has given the English language moreclarity and to some extent also paved the way to the technological future ofPrint 4.0. In view of increasing digitisation, improved man-machine communi-cation is the dominating theme. “We know or rather assume that there is still along way for us to go,” says Claus Bolza-Schünemann, and adds: “But everyjourney starts with the first step. Dr. Gyarmathy has made an importantcontribution to this with her work.”

What precisely is this doctoral thesis about? Each language has its peculiari-ties that puzzle scientists. When referring to events in English that occurwhile speaking, speakers use the continuous or progressive form, formedby adding the suffix -ing to verbs. “Mary is eating a piece of cake” – is a niceexample of this grammar rule because this statement is made within anothermore prolonged process – the eating, for example.

But it is also possible to apply the progressive form to predicates describingan immediate change of state as expressed in the sentence: “Tom is arriving”meaning that Tom is still on the train but will also soon be home. Such

Web break analysis system isvital tool in optimizingefficiency

System diagnostics provideinformation for future preventionCorporate headquarters receivesreal-time production data feedDrupa, June 7th 2016 - One ofEurope's leading high-volumeprinters, the WKS Group, hasstipulated ContiwebVision webbreak analysis as an essentialcomponent for its latest installationat its facility in Wassenberg, North-West Germany. The decision followsthe successful introduction of thesystem on an almost identical pressline in 2013.

Holger Backes is the WKS projectmanager for the entire double webinstallation and was also a key playerbehind the original specification in2013. He is convinced thatContiwebVision is the best webbreak detection technology ontoday's market and confirms that it isthe only sensible choice for thescale of production at Wassenberg.

"Each web in our existing press linemeasures 2250 mm (88.6 inch)wide, giving it the largest pagingcapacity in the world," Backesexplains. "We run the pressessimultaneously into one folder at upto 50,000 revolutions per hour andeach revolution uses 11.2 m2 (120.6sqft) of paper. Obviously, withproduction on this scale we needto ensure our press operators havethe very best control capabilities attheir fingertips. ContiwebVisionallows them to see what ishappening to the webs on bothlevels in real time, preciselypinpointing the source of adisruptive event."

While this clarity and ease of use isof crucial importance, it is not themost significant USP for WKS: "Othersystems can tell you immediatelythere is a web break and some also

tell you where it happened, on topof this ContiwebVision is the onlysystem that can tell you why theweb break happened and informsthe operator how they can prevent itfrom happening again," commentsBackes. "When you're printing560,000 m2 of paper per hour and ittakes an average of 45 minutes toget the presses running again after astop, this information is the goldenticket."

Receiving up to 50 signals fromcameras and sensors strategicallypositioned throughout the press line- from web infeed through splicer, including web severer and webcatcher, printing units, dryer, chillstand, turner bars and folder tooutfeed - the ContiwebVision webbreak analysis system in Wassenberggathers data to continuously monitorweb edges, web tension andoverall condition of the web. Thisinformation enables the system todetermine factors including time andlocation and paper variations.

Immediately on detecting the smallchanges in web tension that indicatea web break, the system correlatesall data to generate a report, whichcan be viewed both locally andremotely via VPN. TheContiwebVision system inWassenberg, close to the Dutchborder, is linked to WKS administra-tive headquarters 100 km away inEssen. The seamless link means thatadministration executives are alertedimmediately of any web break. If apaper fault is detected, the pressoperator sends an automatic reportto the accounts department withthe push of a button, enabling acompensation claim to be submit-ted to the paper supplier withinminutes.

"In fact, this scenario is relatively rarein Wassenberg," Holger Backesadmits. "We are printing 24/7 on verylightweight stock, typically between

40 - 65 gsm so the web breaks are more usually due to the print dynamicssuch as build-up of ink and tack, water and stresses on the web on itsjourney through the machine. "Nevertheless, the information we get from theContiwebVision reports has proved very valuable," he adds. "Our 160-pagepress here now has the lowest incidence of web breaks of all the eightpresses operating in Wassenberg and Essen. On our best day, the pressprinted 320 tonnes of paper, running non-stop for 24 hours."

This record helps to make the repeat investment in an identical press systemmuch less daunting, according to Backes. The new installation, currentlyunderway, is scheduled to be complete by winter 2016, producing moreadvertising circulars for supermarkets and other retailers. With the new pressin full production, output in Wassenberg is expected to grow from 4.2billion 16-page A4 pieces in 2015 to reach 6.0 billion in 2017.

Goss International hasannounced that specialistcatalog printer, Arandell of

Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, willinstall its sixth Goss Sunday Press inQ4 2016, further expanding itsmarket-leading productioncapabilities to service new business.

With 70 new titles awarded in 2016,the new 57-inch (1450mm), 24ppfive-unit Sunday 2000 will enableArandell to increase its productioncapacity and continue to deliver thepremium-quality products and high-standard level of service it isrenowned for.

"As a long-standing Goss customerand early adopter of the Sundaytechnology, adding another GossSunday press to our extensivepressroom line-up was a naturalstep as demand for our productsgrew again last year," explained BradHoffman, president and CEO,Arandell. "Our clients requireexacting color and it is our experi-ence that the Sunday Press is one ofthe few presses in the world thatcan deliver precise color at thespeeds we require."

The speeds and high-productivity ofthe Sunday press can be largelyattributed to two pioneering Gossinnovations - gapless blankets andpinless folders. Gapless blanketseliminate print defects such asbump streaking, doubling and webflutter, allowing faster printing onwider webs with premium quality.

Arandell's Goss Sunday 2000 will beconfigured with a PPF-3.2 pinless

former folder. The pinless folderreduces the non-print area on thecylinder, allowing Arandell tochoose a shorter cutoff and achievesignificant paper savings.

Arandell also chose the Goss QuickPlate Loading enhancement, whichcan cut plate changing times by upto 40 percent, and a VITS RotocutSheeter. The sheeter providessuperior cutting accuracy, anintegrated print-to-cut registercontrol and further minimizes paperwaste. The Sunday 2000 will also besupplied with a perforator, UV

"Any solutions to reduce waste at our production facilities fit perfectly intoour environmental policies," added Hoffman. "Being environmentally-responsible is just one way Arandell is focused on the future. Having beenat the helm of this innovative, forward-thinking company for two years now,we have already made some significant operation efficiencies to ensure westay competitive and continue to provide the best possible service for ourcustomers.

"This latest addition to our cutting-edge pressroom is yet another demon-stration of our commitment to efficient production processes and ourrigorous approach to product quality. Partnering with Goss has been crucialto our success to date and moving forward, bolsters our confidence in thefuture."

Now standard or retrofittableon Ecocool and Ecosetdryers

Drupa, June 1st 2016 - At drupa2016, Goss International (Hall 15,stand D51) is showed the latestinnovation in its industry-leadingrange of heatset drying systems.New Contiweb Fluid Applicator(CFA) technology offers significantcost benefits for web offset printers, enhances print performance andproductivity, and contributes to abetter finished product.

Now supplied as an option on newEcocool and Ecoset models, theCFA system is also available forretrofitting on existing installations ofthese models and stand-alonesilicone application. A demonstra-tion unit on the Goss Contiwebbooth guides visitors through itsbreakthrough approach to theapplication of silicone oil and waterto restore moisture to the printedweb and protect against ink pickingon the surface of the chill rollers.Silicone is necessary to protect theweb from mechanical stress and forbetter runability though the folder.

As well as cutting unnecessaryexpense, the CFA system offers asolution to issues which might resultfrom consumables commonly usedin the drying process, according toBert Schoonderbeek, ManagingDirector, Goss Contiweb.

"Up until now, printers have beenusing ‘ready mixed' silicone/water

products," explainsSchoonderbeek. "These areprovided by a wide array ofchemicals and additives in differentformulations and standards. Theycan also cause maintenance issuesand contamination in the siliconemix system and folder long term. With the CFA system, we're givingthe printer back more control andalso cost benefits."

Treating the web with a silicone/water mixture (silicone andremoistening) in one process wasdeveloped by Contiweb engineersin 2004, and since then, hasbecome considered by many high-quality print professionals to beessential in ensuring best-qualityresults. The combined processreplaces water that has evaporatedfrom the paper during drying torestore the original dimensions ofthe substrate. It also avoids webshrinkage, as well as reducinginstances of cracking, curling orfolding, and delivering an overallmore forgiving substrate forpostpress handling.

The new Contiweb Fluid Applicatornow introduces the ability to mixpure silicone oil with water on-the-fly within one system. By delivering afresh mix which is used immediately, only a single agent is required assurfactant, which helps to controlthe delicate balance required formaintaining uniformity and consis-tency of the web. The oil drops inthe mixture are extremely large

compared to standard silicone emulsions. The result is that the oil is notabsorbed by the paper, but stays on top where it offers a much betterprotection. On average a reduction of 50 % in silicone oil consumption isdocumented.

In addition to the performance benefits, the new system offers considerablefinancial gains, including approx. 60 percent savings on the current cost ofsilicone, which can be equivalent to around •50,000 per year for theconsumption associated with a 64-page press. Based on the sameproduction model, the reduction in terms of transportation is just 15containers versus 80 per year.

The use of pure silicone oil and mixing on demand benefits the performanceand long-term maintenance of the applicator and the folder. Applicator, control and drive rollers are all more lubricated, reducing incidence ofcontamination and improving the lifespan of components.

With the Ecocool dryer, Contiweb was the first manufacturer to offer a singledrying unit with integrated chill rolls, silicone application and optionalremoistening. As well as improved ergonomics, it introduced a new level ofcontrol of the web in one closed environment, bringing with it significantadvantages in quality, efficiency, productivity and cost-effectiveness.

"At Goss Contiweb we have always challenged accepted practice, evenwhen a system seems perfect," explains Bert Schoonderbeek. "The new CFAsystem is the latest development in this process of continuous designdevelopment. With every innovation, we aim to deliver more control andmeasurability to our customers so that they can be assured of consistent, repeatable results of the highest quality."

Addition to product portfolio bringsfast, accurate spectrophotometertechnology to individual Packagingprint houses

QuadTech, Inc. announced abreakthrough colortechnology that will allow

more print operations to utilizeadvanced inline spectral measure-ment on film, paper, or board. Usinga 31-bin spectrophotometer, ColorMeasurement with DeltaCam offersfull spectral measurement for CIflexo, inline flexo, and gravurepresses.

"Until now, printers have had to

QuadTech’s new DeltaCam™ makes accurate, inline spectral measurement affordable

spend a great deal of time inmakeready stopping the press manytimes to measure color anddetermine if they are within spec,"said Isaam Lutfiyya, QuadTechManager of Business Development."For an accurate color measurementon a flexo or gravure press, they hadto measure a sample that was run atproduction speed. This increasedwaste because they had to run thepress up to speed, shut it down, remove the sample and measure itoffline."

Accurate inline color measurementenables printers to reduce time andwaste while confidently maintainingcolor throughout the roll-without theneed to wait for a roll change tomeasure with a handheld device.Color Measurement with DeltaCamenables operators to spot problemsearly and make corrections quickly, thus minimizing waste, customercomplaints, and rebates.

DeltaCam is capable of performing atweb speeds up to 610 m/min (2000ft/min) and on web widths up to2,200mm (87 inches), reading asingle 5mm x 5mm color patch. Theimager reads the spectral responseof color mark patterns or otherdefined locations in the image, andthe system's software calculatesL*a*b* and density values-thencalculates the ?E and ?D from thetarget.

The intuitive ICON-based userinterface is identical to the perfor-mance-proven Color Measurementwith SpectralCamTM. TheSpectralCam product tier isdesigned for printers who requirefaster press speeds and as many as10-12 simultaneous color measure-ments; which is ideal for measuringcolor bars on offset applications.

DeltaCam uses advanced LEDillumination for extended life and

color temperature control, whichcreates ideal conditions for precisecolor measurement. The proprietarydesign reduces stray light, greatlyincreasing color measurementaccuracy. M1, M0, ISO CompliantAlong with strict adherence to ISOstandards, Color Measurement withDeltaCam complies to M0 and M1measurement conditions. Measure-ment illumination condition M1 wasdefined to reduce variations inmeasurement results betweeninstruments due to fluorescence, either by optical brighteners in paperor fluorescence of the imagingcolorants or proofing colorants.

Easy Integration, Configurability

The new system delivers excellentinter-instrument agreement with themost widely used handheldinstruments. With an optional webstabilizer (required for film),agreement of less than 1?E00 isachieved.

The web stabilizer uses a patentedtechnique to stabilize the substrateand measure over a certifiedceramic backing tile for accuratecolor measurement-without theneed for any mechanical positioningdevices that may stretch orotherwise damage the film.

Color control and reportingcapabilities are available when theDeltaCam system is paired withQuadTech's ColorTrackTM withInkControlTM, also debuted at drupa2016. "Now you don't have to be aglobal multinational print house toafford the industry's most advancedinline spectral color measurement,"said Mr. Lutfiyya. "As with othertechnology in the QuadTechportfolio, DeltaCam ensures that noout-of-spec product gets to thecustomer, and automates theprocess of achieving precise coloraccuracy and consistency job-to-job."

for VLF were also very well received- so well in fact that the 5,000 FlexoCTP brochures we took to drupaweren't enough! We are now keento maintain the momentum ofoffering both incremental anddramatic improvements to traditionalprint workflows.

"Our future focus will examine eachand every part of conventional printworkflows to determine whereenhancements, improvements andefficiencies can be made in order tomake our customers more competi-tive. drupa has confirmed thatthere's huge demand and scope forthis activity worldwide. Peoplealways debate the real focus ofdrupa shows - packaging drupa, digital drupa, inkjet drupa - but Ibelieve this show was aptly definedby one UK journalist who said that‘print got its mojo back at drupa '16'.We are happy to be part of thatprocess."

In addition to the ‘usual' drupacrowd, CRON also greeted a specialgroup to its stand. Led by ChairmanDr. Gerhard Papke, the ParliamentGroup NRW-China - an organisationthat promotes cooperationbetween the North Rhine-Westphaliaregion of Germany and China - werealso very welcome guests: "It was anhonour to meet Dr. Papke and hisgroup," Sizer adds, "drupa isobviously a huge event with a lot ofChinese participation, so we weredelighted that he made time to visitCRON. As a truly internationalcompany, we're currently looking toexpand our existing Europeanheadquarters in Düsseldorf -possibly even with a view to addingmanufacturing in the long term - sowe had some interesting discus-sions."

"True Image. True Color. True Print”, CRON’s new strategy vindicated by drupa success
