"If you've been wondering
how the idea of WE Magazine came into existence, then
this is what you need to know"
O nce upon a time, two best friends were walking
through the desert. At some point, they had an
argument, and one slapped the other in the face.
Oops! He shouldn’t have done that, right? Anyway,
read on. The one that was slapped was hurt, but
without saying anything, she wrote in the sand “Today my best
friend slapped me in the face”. They kept on walking until they
found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath.
The friend that was slapped got stuck in the mire and
started drowning, but the other saved her. After she recovered
from the near drowning, she wrote on a stone “Today my best
friend saved my life”. The other friend asked her, “After I hurt
you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone,
why?” She replied, “When someone hurts us, we should write
it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.
But, when someone does something good for us, we must
engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.” We all
have friends, but how real are they? Based on this
imagination, the BIG question is... If you had a genuine friend
like this, how would you value and appreciate her on her
special day? Or don't you think a good friend like this
deserves to be gifted something unusual and special on her
special day?
Based on the imagination on which gift is the most
ideal for a true friend's birthday, WE™ was born on January

"Birthdays are acknowledged and
celebrated diversely in diverse parts of
the world and it is interesting to learn how
a person's birth is celebrated in countries
that are geographically far and culturally
diverse to our own"
W hy Brooklyn’s ear should be
pulled really hard? It was last
week when I was celebrating
my birthday, my Hungarian
friend Piroska came up to me,
reached her hand out, and pulled my earlobe. “Ouch!
Why tha heck did you do that?” I asked, surprised.
“Because today’s your birthday,” she replied. “In
Hungary, if it’s your birthday, you get your ear pulled.”

Then she spoke in Hungarian. “Isten éltessen sokáig,
füled érjen bokádig!” “What does that mean?” I asked.
“God bless you, and may your ears reach your ankles,”
Piroska translated. “The reasoning is that if you pull
someone’s ear on every birthday, each year his ear will
drop a little lower. By wishing him ears that touch his
ankles, you’re wishing him a long life.”
So dear Brooklyn, as you celebrate your
birthday today, if I could pull your ears right now, I
would pull them really hard in the Hungarian style,
because it is your special day today. In the past few
years, I was curious what Hungarians traditionally do for
birthdays and I am so excited now that I have finally
found a few things about their birthday customs and
traditions. Like our traditional birthday pinches or
punches, many Hungarians will pull on the ears of the
birthday boy or girl as many times as they are old and
recite a rhyme that is translated as, “God bless you, live
so long so your ears reach your ankles.” Kind of odd,
but pretty funny!
Many Hungarians also celebrate their “name
days” as well. Most names are associated with a certain
day each year. For example, all people named Boglárka
will celebrate their “name day” on August 1. This is for
various reasons. A person actual birth
date is generally only celebrated along
immediate family members and is a small
celebration. While name days are more
popular and involve classmates,
coworkers, and even strangers. This
makes school and work parties easier
because specific birth dates are
sometimes hard to get or remember.
During “name day” celebrations,
women are traditionally given flowers,
men are given liquor, and children are
given chocolates and sweets. The fun
fact is that: the prices of these gifts will
typically rise on popular names day
celebrations.
While we sometimes
automatically accept the birthday
celebrations and traditions that are
central to our own culture and lifestyle, it
is always interesting to learn more about
the ways that birthdays and special
holidays are celebrated in other parts of
the world.

T he first birthday
party is really a
celebration of
the anniversary
of becoming a
parent. While
your one-year-old may enjoy a
festive atmosphere, he or she
will have no idea of what a
party is. Many parents choose
to make this a celebration for
adults only. If you decide to
invite other babies, be sure to
keep the party short (under an
hour) to accommodate nap
schedules.
1. Formal games are
unnecessary. Blowing bubbles or
singing songs will provide all the
amusement little ones need.
2. Be sure to take plenty of
pictures of your child's frosting-coated
face (photos will provide your child's
only memory of the party).
3. Keep it short.
4. Don't bother buying a cute
paper tablecloth and napkins. They'll
probably just get eaten. Instead, go
to an art-supply store and get
blank white paper from a large
roll. Cover a table completely with
the paper, securing it with tape at
the ends. Set a bunch of crayons on
the table and watch the kids color
their own table cloth.
5. Be sure to host your small guests in a
completely baby-proofed room.
6. Avoid balloons, which present a
choking hazard when they pop.

O nce upon a time, a man was born and named Kim II-Sung on April 15, 1912, he was the leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
from its establishment in 1948. His tenure as leader of North Korea was autocratic, he established an all-pervasive cult of personality around himself and he held the posts of Prime Minister from 1948 to 1972 and Eternal President from 1972. On July 8, 1994, at age 82, Kim Il-sung collapsed from a sudden heart attack. After several hours, the country’s best doctors from Pyongyang arrived, and despite their efforts to save him, he died. After the traditional Confucian Mourning period, his death was declared thirty hours later. Following the elder Kim’s death in
1994, he was succeeded by his son Kim Jong-iI. Kim Jong-iI, born on February 16, 1941, he became his father’s formal successor at the 6th Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) Congress held in 1994. In April 2009, North Korea's constitution was amended to officially refer to him (and his later successors) as the "Supreme Leader of the DPRK". The successor joined his ancestors two years after the DPRK’s constitution was amended. The government announced Kim Jong-iI’s death on December 19, 2011, So Brooklyn, as a result of the Kims’ deaths on July 8 and December 17, you shouldn’t celebrate your birthday in North Korea. People don’t celebrate their birthdays on those dates in the DPRK.

"Celebrating birthdays became

W hy Brooklyn’s nose should be

are numerous traditions
surrounding birthday
celebrations, some of which
are described below. You may recognize some of the
customs, while others will be very unfamiliar. There
may also be special traditions in your family or a

culture, language and economic status are all details
that affect the way a person observes the anniversary of
their birth. Two of the most significant factors
throughout history, however, have been geographic
location and spiritual beliefs. The following customs
have been divided according to these two categories.
Some traditions are quite similar in many parts of the
world; birthday candles which carry wishes up to God,
birthday games which gauge how much more a child
can do versus last year, and birthday pinches or taps
which ensure good luck for the coming year. Some
traditions are more specific to certain countries. In this
article, you’ll learn the Canadian customs and traditions
when it comes to birthdays.
In Canada, at birthday parties, they serve
homemade birthday cakes decorated with colored sugar
sprinkles. Between the layers of the cake, a wrapped
coin might be found. Whoever finds the hidden coin is
the first to get a turn at all the party games. At the
parties, children receive colorful party favors called
crackers. These are tubes wrapped in crepe paper. They
pop when you pull a paper strip. Inside there is a small
prize, your fortune or a hat.
Birthdays in Canada are almost
of similar to what they have in other
countries like the U.S. and some parts of
Europe. For instance, in America, the
most memorable birthdays are often
those spent with family.
But in Canada, greasing the nose
with butter or margarine is a common
practice among the Canadians. In Atlantic
Canada such as; Nova Scotia, Prince
Edward Island, New Brunswick and
Newfoundland, the birthday boy or girl is
ambushed and their nose is greased for
good luck. The idea is that the greased
nose makes the birthday person too
slippery for bad luck to catch them.
This odd tradition can be traced
back to Scottish roots of birthday
customs and traditions. Moreover, In
Quebec, the birthday person receives a
punch for each year they are alive and
then another extra punch for good luck in
the coming year. Isn’t that shocking?

H osting a
birthday
party for
two-year-olds
presents
unique challenges. They can
go from anger to excitement
in minutes — so you need to
be prepared for a full range of
emotions. Most twos are still
very possessive of their toys;
they may offer them to each
other but will want them right
back immediately. It is best to put
away your child's favorite toys
before inviting a party full of
friends over (sharing and taking
turns will come later).
1. It’s best not to open gifts at
the party since most guests won't
understand that they can't take
theirs’ home.
2. Do not plan organized games
since parallel play is all you can expect
from most twos.
3. Try sand, clay or even water
play activities since most twos like to
work with their hands.
4. You can do some
activities outdoors if possible
since twos like making a mess.
5. Be sure to host your small
guests in a completely baby-proofed
room since twos are adept at opening
doors and finding hazards.
6. Remember that lighted candles can
be dangerous — make sure no bows, ruffles or
pigtails are ignited.
7. Avoid balloons, which present a
choking hazard when they pop.
"It's not until when they're getting older
that children begin to really understand
parties. Those who are used to preschool
or daycare usually love a chance to
celebrate themselves"

What makes Brooklyn's birthday exceptional?

T
I t all begins with the night before your birthday. Probably, as long as you can remember, you go to bed that night expecting to wake up transformed. Only the most excellent dreams come
to you in your sleep, and the next day, the dreams are fulfilled. After that, you expect everyone to be celebrating with you; everyone circling around you showering you with confetti, so the whole day, you feel like a Celeb (not that you want 1,000 paparazzi following you). And you think the sun rose, just for you because you’re special. Yep, Brooklyn, today is your special day, because it is YOUR day!" As you go about your day, you’re full of suspense and you want people to glow and smile, knowing it’s your day.
Everyone wants to take you out and to do fun things that you don't do on a regular basis, go to a fancy restaurant, have adventures, and participate in spectacular events. The day is most joyful and the possibilities are limitless. You arrive at home to find a surprise birthday party waiting for you. All of your friends are celebrating with you. Toasts are shared among your peeps, as are letters from peoples' whose lives I've impacted. You know your dreams tonight will be filled with your reality from the day. You fall sleep just to wake up to... Your reality! Year after year, this never happens. You would think you would learn by now, but you still haven't. You still go to bed thinking you'll wake up and "feel" older, wiser, smarter... something.

"In Chinese culture, some years make a
cycle of a life and regarded as the
beginning of a new life cycle. When
one attained that age old, he is
expected to have a big family fi lled
with children and grandchildren"
W hy Brooklyn’s mouth should
be jammed with long noodles?
Traditionally, Chinese people
do not pay a lot of attention to
birthdays until they are 60
years old. After that, a birthday celebration is held
every ten years, that is the 70th, the 80th, 90th, 100th,
etc., until the person's death. Generally, the older the
person is, the greater the celebration occasion is.

The Chinese traditional way to count the age is
different from the Western way. In China, people take
the first day of the Chinese New Year in lunar calendar
as the starting point of a new age. No matter in which
month a child is born, he is one year old, and one more
year is added to his age as soon as he enters the New
Year. So what may puzzle a Westerner is that a child is
two years old when he is actually two days or two hours
old. It is often the grown-up sons and daughters who
celebrate their elderly parents' birthdays to show their
respect for them and express their thanks for what they
have done for their children.
According to the traditional customs, the
parents are offered foods with happy symbolic
implications. On the birthday morning, the father or
mother will eat a bowl of long "long-life noodles." In
China long noodles symbolize a long life. Eggs are also
among the best choices of food taken on the special
occasion.
It is becoming more and more popular to serve
Western-style birthday cakes, but long noodles are
traditionally eaten by the person celebrating his or her
birthday. Long noodles symbolize long life. The noodles
are meant to be slurped until no more can be stuffed
into a person’s mouth before they are
bitten. Family and close friends who
cannot attend the birthday celebration
will often eat long noodles to bring
longevity to the person celebrating his or
her birthday.
Regardless of the scale of the
celebration, peaches and noodles, which
are both signs of long life, are required.
But interestingly, the peaches are not
real. They are actually steamed wheaten
food with sweet stuff inside. They are
called peaches just because they are
made in the shape of peaches. When the
noodles are cooked, they should not be
cut short, for the shortened noodles can
have a bad implication (short life span).
Everyone at the celebration eats the two
foods to extend their best wishes to the
long-life star.
The typical birthday presents are
usually two or four of eggs, long noodles,
artificial peaches, tonics, wine and money
in red paper.

S o you’re here to
find out some of
the best third
birthday ideas
for your boy or
girl, right? Today, I’m going
to share some of the best
ideas with you to make this
occasion memorable for years.
Third birthdays are special and
no matter how stressed and
sleep- deprived you are, you will
always be thrilled to celebrate
your baby’s third birthday.
It’s not until they hit
three that children begin to really
understand parties. Those who are
used to group settings from
preschool, daycare or playgroups
usually love a chance to celebrate
themselves. (If your child is shy,
however, keep that in mind when
making your plan.)
1. Singing and circle activities
work better than group games for most
threes.
2. Threes like imitation, so try a
simple version of Simon Says (without
expecting them to know left from
right).
3. Threes usually enjoy
playing with other children briefly
but still have trouble cooperating.
4, Don't expect too much of
your guests.
5. It's best not to open gifts at the party
since most guests won't understand that they
can't take their home.
6. Keep the party to about 90 minutes to
avoid over-stimulating them (and exhausting
you).

Who considers head spanking for Brooklyn?

T he great thing about Irish birthday celebrations is – you can use them to express your Irish side on a fun and memorable occasion! And you
can repeat them over and over again (every year in fact) until you get really good at them! Because the Irish have such a reputation for being able to throw a good party, it may come as something of a surprise to learn that there are only a few unique traditions associated with birthday celebrations in Ireland. Most birthday celebrations in Ireland are related or attached with religion or to the cycle of the seasons. For instance, birthday celebrations in Ireland are a little bit different.. Many of us are
familiar with the tradition of ‘spanking’ a child one time for each year, and finishing up this torturous ritual with a ‘pinch to grow an inch.’ I have to make a convention at this point, I’m saying this not because I am Irish, but I never really liked that one when I was growing up. It’s more fun now that I’m the one doing the spanking … Anyway, the Irish version of this celebration is a bit different – and much riskier! According to a legend, it’s common for a birthday lad or lass to be held upside down and ‘bumped’ on the floor – once for each successful year of life to date, and an extra bump for good luck in the coming years. Ouch! Actually that explains a lot about some of the Irish ancestors …

"Jamaicans celebrate birthdays much in
the way Americans do. Many Jamaicans
hold birthday parties at which family and
friends come together to sing and share
birthday cake and other foods and sing
the same happy birthday song"
W hy Brooklyn’s face should be
snuffed out in flour? According
to Rebecca Tortello, a
contributor to the Jamaica
Gleaner, Jamaicans are some
of the most tradition-loving and superstitious people on
the planet. The fact that Jamaica is one of the most
religious countries in the world as the basis for
Jamaicans' love of traditional adages and superstitions.

As evidence of that claim, she cites the large amount of
tonics and cure-alls available in Jamaican markets. In
accordance with these cultural mores, Jamaicans
possess a number of superstitions and traditions on and
about birthdays.
Jamaicans are very superstitious. They have
countless practices and customs, all designed to bring
fortune and keep bad luck at bay. For instance, one
superstition state that if a couple marries on the
birthday of either the bride or groom, then the marriage
is destined to fail. Birthday traditions in Jamaica are
almost identical to most countries worldwide. Friends
and family gather to express their well wishes, all
sharing the merriment of the moment and huge slices of
cake. But when you're celebrating your special day on
the island, you can expect to be covered from head to
toe with sticky globs of a floury paste.
Hey Brooklyn, if you were Jamaican or living in
Jamaica, it is their tradition that you as a birthday
person -- no matter the age you just attained – you will
be fully covered in flour. This can be done in multiple
contexts; sometimes it happens within the context of a
party with dancing to reggae music. Other times, one of
your friends or family members simply engineers
a situation in which you get doused in
flour. Sometimes guests attending the
birthday celebration accidentally get
covered in secondary flour coatings.
The tradition may have started
as a schoolboy prank, but its popularity
spread across the island like wildfire.
Whether you are 9 or 99, no-one is
immune the birthday tradition of Flouring.
Loved ones buy bags of flour and spend
days devising cunning ways to liberally
throw the stuff on you, the unsuspecting
victim. It isn't uncommon for crafty
relatives to top off your 'Flour Shower'
with a liquid of some kind, resulting in you
being covered in a sticky mess of floury
goo.
The nanosecond that the
calendar lands on your big day, you'll
spend the entire time figuring out this
year's attack plan. The tradition isn't
meant to be evil; in fact, it's a great way
to have a belly full of laughs with your
loved ones.

plans and
wishes for a
great birthday
party for kids.
Babies at such a young age
as four can be a handful and
there are chances that you
may be worried about all the
preparations taking place
according to your plan.
However, there are a few things
that you must keep in mind
before making the final plans and
arrangements for your little ones
special occasion. Below are a few
fourth birthday ideas for your boys
and/or girls. Take a look at these
and make the birthday celebration a
memorable one.
Most fours are full of energy
and imagination, which makes them
wonderful (but exhausting)
party-goers.
1. Plan short games and keep
things moving because fours may find it
hard to wait their turn.
2. Include music since most
fours like silly songs and nonsense
words.
3. Treasure and scavenger
hunts work well for this age
group.
4. Plan lots of active games,
since fours have physical energy to burn.
5. Plan for a party of about two hours.
These are some fourth birthday party

When Brooklyn's birthday becomes family day?
BY:

G
G rowing up in a home where birthdays were simple, yet extremely special, personal, and fun. Without fail, every year I would begin my birthday
by being woken up by my entire family coming into my room and singing me happy birthday. My hope is that the family birthday ideas below will help serve Brooklyn as ideas to start fun and meaningful birthday traditions in a family. Birthdays are also family days when you spend your birthday as a family and stay up late. Just have fun as a family that day/night. Every member of your family will write and give you a personal birthday letter on your special day. This tells how they care and proud of you. But, perhaps what was most
memorable about the birthdays in my home was that Birthday's were a family day. Some of my fondest memories growing up were simply sitting around the dinner table with my parents and siblings just talking and laughing. Birthdays were so special - not necessarily because of the food, gifts or attention - it was certainly because of the fact that birthdays were a family day, and I got to just be with those I love most - my family. What matters most is to ensure birthday's become not only a special day for the person whose birthday it is, but also that birthday's become a 'family day.' Brooklyn, if you think of your own, the most important thing is to make your day special for yourself and spend time as a family with those you love most.

W hen we were young kids, we all looked forward to our birthdays as these were special days that we would be hosting a party
and be showered with gifts and tone of wishes from friends and families. Indeed, birthdays are special days that mark the growth and accomplishment we have made in the past few years, and for more to come in the upcoming years. Sending a custom “birthday” magazine as an exclusive birthday gift allows you to let a birthday person knows how much you care about him/her. In this article, I focus on what makes WE™ a unique birthday gift for Brooklyn and how the magazine works for Brooklyn’s birthday in an exceptional way.
WE™ occupies a unique place in a birthday person’s heart because it’s fully personalized, portable and tactile. It’ll always find a space on consumers’ shelves. Generally speaking, the beauty of magazines is the emotion and passion that you can pour into reading them. Catherine Black, president of Hearst Magazines, said in a television interview: ―At the end of the … “think about where you read your magazines: in bed at night or on an airplane or any place where you are feeling good.” You are engaged in it. You are entertained by it. On the same program, Jack Kliger, president of Hachette Filipacchi Media USA, said, ―”Reading is still the number one leisure activity among most Americans.” And it's always among the top three of how people like to relax. I don't think that's going to change.

Why does a birthday person like Brooklyn actually need WE™? The answer is basically: to learn, to enjoy and to commemorate a special day in a special way. Reading is one of the best indicators of exactly who the birthday person is. We read to learn about Brooklyn and join in celebrating a special day. Books teach and educate, WE™ does the same. Furthermore, what makes WE™ different is the unique way of celebrating a birthday person in an exclusive and exceptional way. We can’t help ourselves. As a race of beings, we have a fundamental need to know things. We are driven to explore and attempt to understand, whether it is the spiritual whys, or the scientific hows. It has always been that way. It will always be that way. So, the reasons a birthday person like Brooklyn needs WE™ is much the same as
why we need anything to make our birthday experience an exceptional one. The power of WE™ stems from the personal identity conveyed not only by its personalized contents, but by its total package of color, design, and editorial tone of voice. WE™ is becoming one of the most ideal birthday gifts for all genders and ages. It’s also one of the most intimate forms of media, because it can establish a very strong relationship with a birthday person and its readers unequalled by ordinary magazines, newspapers and television or radio stations. WE™ is just like a friend and an integral part of a birthday person’s personal and professional life. And what makes it different is that its contents is fully and specially designed and personalized to suit the personal lifestyles of a birthday person.

H ey Brooklyn! Today is
your special day. I
know you’re not
Danes, but I am. So I
will like to share with
you a thing or two about birthday heritage
in Denmark.
First things first, for a good
Danish birthday, the Danish flag has to be
out and about. I don't know why and I
don't know if this happens in other
countries too, but it happens here.
Danes LOVE their flag. The more the flag
appears the better. It should be all around
the house for everyone to see, but most of
all it should be on the birthday cake, which
must be a layer cake. Lots of tiny flags in
amongst the candles. The table should be
set with a Danish flag tablecloth and the
serviettes should have mini Danish flags
on them too. Throw the saying 'less is
more' out the window, more is more and
even then, it's still not enough.
Now! Speaking of birthday
heritages, there's a little custom in
Denmark that says if you are unmarried
when you turn 30, you are 'given' pepper.
Unfortunately, it seems too many people
were getting married before they were 30
and missing out on all the peppery fun.
So a new heritage was born; at
25, the birthday person is attacked with
cinnamon. I honestly couldn't make this
stuff up if I tried. I can only presume a
couple of Dane's got together over one too
many Carlsberg's and thought it was the
best idea ever. Surprisingly, the rest of the
nation agreed. But let’s face it, they were
probably drunk too.
Once you've been covered in
cinnamon, you can't have a hot shower to
clean it off or the pores on your skin will
open and absorb it causing you to turn
orange. The only solution, a cold shower.
Happy birthday Brooklyn!
I love birthdays. I celebrate my
birthday and my half birthday, hell
yeah! I'm even excited for my quarter
birthday next week. That's why I was
excited to find out that Denmark has a
whole world of birthday celebrations I had
no idea about.

S o this time you want to
celebrate her birthday
in a different way and
romance is in your
mind winking smile.
Going simple in every celebration could
be quite boring so to rejuvenate the
excitement, you must celebrate her
birthday in a different way.
Celebrating girlfriend’s birthday
with romance could be quite an exciting
thing to do. There are many things you
will love to do for her birthday celebration
to add up romance. But here, I will only
talk about the 5 most romantic birthday
gift ideas you should try on her birthday.
Gown For HER
First of all, on your girlfriend’s
birthday, you must make her feel special.
You must show how much you love and
care about her. To make her feel special, I
have an idea for you. Why not a gown for
the day that would make her look like a
princess. If you are throwing a party, then
she can wear that gown to the event
place.
Dress For HER
If you don’t have much plan to
go out and want to celebrate this day at
home, then this is a perfect option. At
home, you can be little romantic and
naughty. You can give her a dress that
will make her hot and which will make the
room full of romantic vibes.
Shimmer For HER
Yes! Girls love to look beautiful
and elegant. They love to do things that’ll
make them more beautiful and charming.
A girl would always love to have diamond
ring as gift from her partner. It could be
the most romantic gift for her as it’s found
that women generally posses attraction
towards diamond. A diamond ring will
make her shine like a princess. So in my
opinion, you can give her a nice branded
diamond ring on her birthday to make this
day memorable for years.
WE™ For HER
Yes! Custom magazine is a very
unique birthday gift idea and you might
not have tried it before. You can give a
custom magazine of your romantic
moments. The magazine will be created
with her pictures and text. It will feature
all her personal pictures and messages to
make a nice custom magazine for her.

M any people, both
young and old, love
celebrating their
birthdays. But the
heritage seems diff
with a few peculiar exceptions sprinkled
throughout German-speaking countries.
First of all, this serves as a
warning too: I’m German, so please never
wish a German a happy birthday before
their birthday. It is considered bad luck to
do so. There are no well-wishes, cards or
presents given before a German’s
birthday. Period!
Secondly, if somebody in Germany invites
you out for their birthday, the tab is on
them. And don’t try insisting on paying for
yourself – it won’t work. If you’re an
unmarried man at 30, the whole town will
know! A Sockenkranz, a type of garland of
socks is strung outside the home and
around the birthday boy’s property leading
to his party. As he follows the garland of
socks, he’ll down an alcoholic drink
every few meters. Why socks? In German
you have the expression alte Socke (an old
sock), more of a derogatory way of saying
"confirmed bachelor.” A similar experience
awaits unmarried women turning this age.
They follow a garland of cigarette cartons
instead (or other similar-sized cartons if
they are non-smokers). These single
women are nicknamed eine alte Schachtel
(an old box), similar in meaning to "old
maid". My sister went through this.
If you live in northern Germany
and happen to be single going on thirty, a
few chores may be expected from you: If
you’re female, your friends will want you
to clean a few doorknobs for them, with a
toothbrush! If you’re male, then you’ll
most likely be sweeping the stairs of town
hall or some other busy public place.
A kiss from opposite sex is the
ONLY way to be freed from this menial
task. If you don't wanna be so mean to
your friend, there are alternatives. For
instance, the doorknob chore is sometimes
executed by having the birthday girl clean
a series of doorknobs attached to a
wooden board instead, right at her party
and not in public.

A re you looking out for
some romantic
birthday ideas for him
that’ll make his day to
be more special? I
have given some list of 6 romantic
birthday ideas for him that you need to
know.
Kisses For HIM
Not mentioned anywhere, I am
telling you this from my own experience.
On my 25th birthday which was in last
April, my girlfriend started my day with 25
kisses all over my face and with each kiss
she greeted me a happiest birthday.
You For HIM
If you are at home or hotel room,
give him any excuse to go in other room
to prepare yourself for the gift. Use a big
ribbon to wrap yourself around the waist
and come out to the room saying happy
birthday my love, I am your gift forever or
something like that. I am sure he will get
flattered to see you as a gift. Here are few
more romantic gift ideas.
Wine For HIM
If you want something that can
come under your budget, then a wine or
champagne bottle is the best thing you
can give him. Surprise him with a wine or
champagne bottle.
Hotel For HIM
This is the most romantic
moment when you and your
boyfriend/husband are in a hotel room,
talking with each other, celebrating,
dancing, enjoying, having fun and taking
shower together. Hell yeah!!! Have you
ever tried to have a shower together? Try
it and he will definitely like this idea and
will remember this birthday for years.
Dress For HIM
If you both are at home or hotel
room, you can wear a very romantic dress
for him and tease him a bit. He will feel so
romantic to see you in that kind of dress.
Candlelight For HIM
Generally, women love to go out
for a candlelight dinner with their
partners. It is romantic as well as in
candlelight dinner, you get a space where
you can spend good quality time with
him.
These were the top 6 out of
hundreds of romantic birthday ideas men
will always appreciate the most. I hope
you found them interesting, worth trying
and romantic!

To sum it up, turning 40
is not usually looked forward to
as much as previous birthdays.
After 40th birthday, additional

your child will be able to obtain a valid driver's
license. This is usually a first step to freedom
and is usually celebrated in an elaborate way.
Many girls have sweet sixteen birthday parties
complete with a sweet sixteen tiara and
receive various elaborate birthday gifts.
The 18th signifies that you are no
longer a child and can vote, join the
military, etc and are legally considered an
adult. This also usually occurs at a time
when the first year of college start and
some of the best birthday gift ideas
include various gifts that will make
the college experience more

Full adulthood is achieved
with the 21st birthday as this age
signifies that you are now able to
legally consume alcohol. Vegas

J apanese birthdays are not as
big a celebration as they are
in the West. In fact, there was
no custom of celebrating
birthdays in Japan until around
1950! Before this, there was only one day
on which to celebrate birthdays
(everyone’s birthday) and that day was
New Year’s Day. This was because ancient
people thought everyone got older on New
Year’s Day, not the day they were born.
Since then, however, in Japan, we have
been influenced by western cultures, so
they started celebrating people’s birthdays
on the date of their actual birth.
The only time you’ll organize your
own birthday party in Japan is when you
are a child, although your parents likely
played a bigger part in the actual
organization of it than you did. The cake is
a “must” and we sing “Happy Birthday” in
the dark and blow the candles out on the
cake (a 1:1 ratio of candles to years). It’s
the same as western culture, isn’t it?
In Japan a girl’s 3rd or 7th
birthday during the year or a boy who has
had his 5th go to the shrine on November
15th. At the shrine, they give thanks to
God for their health and strength, and pray
for a long life to come. This is due to the
fact that a long time ago children died
before their 3rd, 5th or 7th birthdays. After
they have been to the shrine, a family
feast is held at their home. This ceremony
is known as the "7, 5, 3", on this day they
wear the best kimono and if you're a girl, a
ribbon in your hair. The best thing that
might happen is that you can go and buy a
special bag of candy with the words
"sweets for 1000 years of life" written on
them.
As you’re getting older, you’ll feel
uncomfortable when someone says “Hey,
I’m having a birthday party on Sunday.
Can you come?” In Japan this discussion
would take place in a conversation
amongst friends like, “Hey, Mami’s
birthday is on April 9th, so we are planning
a birthday party. Are you available that
day?” When someone celebrates their
birthday, though they can have a say in
where to go or what to do.

Y our mom is solely
responsible for who and
what you are today,
therefore you shouldn’t
miss any opportunity to
credit her. A gift will express your feelings
towards her. I found 7 awesome birthday
gift ideas for mom and I’m putting them
in a list below. These gifts are not age
specific, but I still have a solution for that.
Spa For MOM
You can gift a needful gift like a
spa bucket. A spa bucket consists of spa
treatment cream, which would help her to
repair the foot cracks soften her hands,
aromatic oil, which she could use for
massage and relax herself, a body wash
with a loofah, having soothing fragrance
and an aroma candle.
Wallet For MOM
Carrying a wallet is a must thing
for any woman. Whatever age she
belongs to, they love to purchase wallets
of different size, range and style, and they
love to flaunt their collection. Why can’t
we add one specialized feather to her
collection?
Jewelry For MOM
When it comes to gifting a
woman and don’t consider a jewelry, then
it would be a great injustice to both of
them because jewelry and woman
complement each other.
Couch For MOM
This is a multitasking sofa. Your
mom can relax over it while doing so
many things at the same time. For
instance, she can work on a laptop, place
her coffee mug on the wood stand, place
a remote, books, it just helps you to sit
and manage so many things at one place.
Furniture For MOM
A new experience with
personalized furniture like a wardrobe or
a bedside drawer with lights up whenever
opened so that it can be easily used and
things are visible even when the room
lights are off.
Watch For MOM
Definitely your mom is going to
have more than one watch. She is going
to love the elegant watch holder box
gifted by you.
To sum it up, remember, only
gifting isn’t the solution and never think
your task is done. Once you have gifted,
make it her special day and convey your
emotions with the gifts that you give.

Birthdays are
no big deal in
countries like
China and most of

they often honor

Africa also do not
celebrate birthdays with
huge parties mainly due
to economic reasons.
The first birthday
parties may have began in
Ancient Greece by honoring
the moon goddess with the gift
of a round cake. The first
recorded birthday parties with
gifts are those of kings and
aristocrats. This may be why the
birthday person of today wears a
crown at a birthday party. The king's
birthday was declared as a day of
feasting and celebration. Guests
brought gifts to show their fondness for
the king and also to wish him good luck
during the rest of the year. It is believed
torches were used to ward off evil spirits.

A senior citizen's birthday

The birthday song originated in

Sending WE™ is a modern and exclusive
form of birthday gift that began somewhere

Different people have
incorporated different traditions into
their own birthday celebration. Children
in England open their birthday

open their presents after blowing

WE™ are different and stand
out when it comes to
making your little kids
special day a special and
memorable experience.
A teenager's Birthday is the
welcome gate of his/her
young stage of life. In the
teenage we have so many
dreams. But, because of age
barrier people called us immature
and don’t allow to act something,
even though we are capable enough. Like
boys, girls also have many visions in
teenage which can be carried forward in
young age. Imagine how excited your
little girls or boys will be to see their face
on the cover of a custom birthday

and personalized to celebrate them on
their special day in a special way.

S pecial year birthdays
such as 5, 10, 15, 20, 21
are called "crown" years
in the Netherlands.
Unlike in the US where
you have your party at a restaurant or
have it catered, in the Netherlands, you're
responsible for supplying the goods for
your own party. Dutch birthdays can be a
complete shock to the uninitiated, but
there are few simple rules on how to deal
with them. Allow me to explain:
If invited to a Dutch birthday
party, do not expect wild dancing until
dawn. It usually means sitting in a big
circle of chairs, drinking coffee and eating
a piece of cake. On no account should you
attempt to form smaller groups.
From my personal experience as
Dutch, If it is your birthday at work, you
are expected to take in cake for your
entire department. Your colleagues will not
give you presents. They will all shake your
hand or kiss you.
If it is your partner’s birthday, you
must congratulate everyone else in the
family. This might sound odd. It goes like
this. It is your husband’s birthday. You
invite his mother for coffee and cake. She
says to you “Congratulations on Fred’s
birthday”, you say to her: “Congratulations
on your son’s birthday”. You congratulate
Fred’s sister on her brother’s birthday and
so on. But seriously, we do that. Funny!
If it’s your child’s birthday and
they are at a Dutch primary school, you
will be expected to supply a ‘traktatie’ – an
edible gift for every child in the class.
Luckily, this all stops from the age of 12,
when your children will start
demanding parties with smuggled beer
and Bacardi breezers.
If you are turning 50, beware of
Abraham. The name of the Biblical
patriarch Abraham, who reached the ripe
old age of 175, is applied to men in the
Netherlands when they reach the age of
50. Women are known as Sarah who,
according to the Bible, lived until she was
127. Fortunately, the more of us foreigners
move in, the more the traditional Dutch
birthday celebration is being eroded.

use it while he drives his car.

W hen a Chinese girl
or boy turns one
year old, a variety
of objects and
toys are placed
on the floor around the child. According to
ancient beliefs, the object that the child
chooses is a symbol foreshadowing the
profession he or she will pursue in life. This
article discusses when and why a birthday
person shouldn’t celebrate their birthdays
in China.
First of all, Chinese birthdays
must be celebrated before or on the
actual birth date. Celebrating a Chinese
birthday belatedly is a no-no. There are
several birthdays that are not celebrated
and they depend on a person’s sex.
The 30th birthday is considered a
year of uncertainty and danger, so to
avoid bad luck, Chinese women do not
celebrate their 30th birthdays. Instead,
they remain 29 for an extra year.
The 33rd birthday is considered
especially troublesome and dangerous for
Chinese women. To counteract any bad
luck, women turning 33 must buy a piece
of meat, hide behind the kitchen door and
chop the meat 33 times. It is believed
chopping the meat will cast all the evil
spirits into the meat. The meat is then
thrown away.
The 66th birthday is also
considered especially troublesome and
dangerous. Like the 33rd birthday, a piece
of meat must be chopped up. This time,
the woman’s daughter, if she has one, or
her closest female relative if she does not
have a daughter, must buy a piece of
meat and chop the meat 66 times so the
year can go by smoothly.
On the other hand, the 40th
birthday is considered a year of
uncertainty and danger for Chinese men,
so to avoid bad luck, they do not celebrate
their 40th birthdays.
But seriously … Brooklyn, if you
happen to be in China and see a group of
men… Women buying a piece of meat,
hiding them behind their kitchen door and
chopping the meat 33 times, you’ll at least
know what they’re up to.

I t’s a day that’s all about you. It’s your birthday Brooklyn! Celebrating the anniversary of the day you were born is a common thing,
but have you ever wondered where the tradition began? Because early man didn’t have a concept of time, or know how to calculate events. Marking the passage of time only became customary with the invention of calendars, which came about from the ability to read lunar cycles. Now Brooklyn, let’s talk about the origin that makes you a birthday person today. Birthday Parties
The party began in ancient Egypt. When pharaohs were crowned, they were considered to have transformed into gods. This divine promotion made their coronation date much more important than their birth into the world. Scholars have pointed to the Bible's reference of a Pharaoh's birthday as the earliest known mention of a birthday celebration (around 3,000 B.C.E.), but Egyptologist Dr. James Hoffmeier believes this is referencing the subject's coronation date, since that would have been the Pharaoh's "birth" as a god. However, birthdays are often celebrated across many cultures (often with gifts, parties, etc.), but some believe the tradition of birthday parties started in Europe. And the superstition stated that
evil spirits were particularly attracted to people on their birthdays, so to protect the birthday boy or girl, family and friends would visit. Apparently, bringing good wishes and lots of noise kept the spirits away! This is why many parties are filled with noise makers, music and lots of laughter. So Brooklyn, it’s your day to break out the party favors and crank up the tunes! Birthday Candles The Greeks added candles to cake. A birthday celebration isn’t complete without a cake and candles! Some think the cake tradition started with the Greeks, who would take a round or moon shaped cake to the temple of Artemis- the Goddess of Moon – to celebrate. They would then light candles on the cake to make it glow like a moon because they believed that gods lived in the sky and that lighted candles helped to send a signal or prayers. On the other hand, some people think it was a German custom, as they would bake bread into the shape of baby Jesus’ swaddling cloth to mark the occasion. They’d then place a large candle in the middle of the cake, symbolizing ‘the light of life’. And what about blowing out those flames? Candles are placed on a Birthday cake and a silent wish is made before blowing out the candle. Some say that blowing all candles out in one breath means the wish of a birthday person will come true and the person will have good luck in the coming year. Hey Brooklyn! May all your wishes come true with good luck in the coming year. So please blow all the candles in one try. Why? Early traditions believe that the rising smoke takes your wishes and prayers up to God. Regardless of what you believe, don’t let the flames burn too long – it’s bad form to let all of the wax melt all over the cake!

Birthday Hats Though there is no one origin of the pointy party hat, this distinctive headgear has been around at the very least since 2800 BC, and was recognized as a symbol of power or status: In ancient Egypt, only the nobility were allowed to wear pointed hats as a symbol of their elevated status above their subjects. The different designs made individual pharaohs identifiable to their subjects. For example, in medieval Jewish traditions, some people started wearing cylindrical hats secured around the chin to distinguish themselves in Christian Europe. These hats were higher and more pointed than the traditional Jewish Kippah of today. It was also believed that witches and wizards wore pointed hats because the hats were representations of the cone of power. Catholic princesses and noblewomen in Medieval Europe would also wear cone-shaped hats intricately decorated with long veils, precious jewels, and even intricate butterfly and flower detailing. The party hat can also be traced to the dunce cap, worn by misbehaving or poorly performing schoolchildren from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, signifying that the wearer engaged in frivolous and foolish behavior—naturally what we all expect of the birthday person on their birthdays! Generally speaking, these cylindrical birthday hats continue to be the proud tradition in many different cultures from across the globe, with the point of the hat elevating the wearer to the status of royalty which I do believe Brooklyn becomes today.
Birthday Gifts One theory regarding the giving of birthday gifts dates back to early Europe, when people believed that evil spirits would seek out and haunt someone on his or her birthday, most importantly the king. Therefore, on one’s birthday, people would gather to protect that person and would bring with them good wishes. These gatherings later became our modern day birthday parties, and over time, people brought more than just good wishes to ward off evil spirits; they brought presents, too. Birthday Song? According to the 1998 Guinness Book of World Records, “Happy Birthday to You” is the most recognized song in the English language, and its lyrics have been translated into 18 languages. In 1893, sisters Patty Hill and Mildred J. Hill wrote a song they called, “Good Morning to All,” which was part of the book Song Stories for the Kindergarten and was intended to be sung by students before classes began. As the song caught on across America, it developed a number of variations, becoming “Good Morning to You” and then, in 1924, Robert Coleman published a songbook and added a few extra lyrics that’d quickly come to overshadow the original lines and came to be the rendition we all know today, “Happy Birthday to You Brooklyn.”
