Each fortnight we will send a notification and link out on the skoolbag app indicating our latest newsletter is available. The newsletter can be viewed on our app or website. There are two reasons to move towards a paperless newsletter system including saving on printing and paper costs which all contributes towards helping the environment too. Of course, we will accommodate any family that finds a paper copy the easiest way to stay in contact with the school. These will be printed and available from the school office. Towards the end of the year, a parent survey will be set up to see if the school community agree to a paperless newsletter in the future. Just a reminder also that all notes that are sent home always go up on to the school website. Building work update Over the holiday period we were lucky to have our current classroom block painted to match the colour scheme of the new school. You may have also noticed that the shade cloth in the playground has been removed. This shade was required to be moved, as the fence line of the build needs to be extended to come into the playground a little further. I understand that this is a shade area lost during the hotter months. We have made adjustments to the areas students assemble and eat at during break times, ensuring they are always provided with a sun safe location to sit. Parents are invited to wait under the basketball court in the shade at pick up times. Trivia Night On Saturday 19th October WWPS P & C held a Trivia Night. It was a fantastic night of trivia and fundraising which will continue to help our P & C provide extra resources to our students. The night was very enjoyable and a wonderful reflection of the local community spirit as parents and students past and present came along to help support our P & C. It was particularly enjoyable as students were also welcomed to attend and the questions of the trivia allowed for their participation in the quiz. I would like to thank Kelly Casey, Lynda Stephenson and the rest of the P&C for organising such a tremendous night. Additionally, our wonderful teachers assisted where needed too and a big thank you also needs to be mentioned to Mr Taylor and Mrs Rayfeild for writing the questions and announcing them on the night. Unfortunately ‘Dangerous Minds’ (the teachers team) didn’t fare very well, however we will be back better and stronger next time! Dance2Bfit Our dance to be fit program started last week. The program is both an enjoyable program whilst building students fitness and dance skills. The total cost of the program is $50, however the P&C and the school are subsidising $40 therefore making the cost to students only $10. This price works out to be only $1 per session. If you have not already, please pay $10 to the office to ensure your child participates in this great program. Each year students agree that the program is a fun and cool way to learn about dance and movement, combined with getting active during their sport time. Tim Lewis

KINDER

Last day of term 3 calls for an end of term party! Kinder had a blast doing silly dance moves in their silly socks and party hats.

We have been learning to create persuasive texts. Cooper has achieved his writing goal by using a capital letter, finger spaces, conjunctions and a full stop. He has clearly shown his opinion and supported it with reasons. Well done Cooper! Kindergarten have been learning to subtract. Owen has been a busy learner subtracting lots of two digit numbers. Look how many he completed all by himself! Great work Owen!

Our Kindergarten completed some leaf painting to celebrate NAIDOC week. The leaf painting session was set up and run by Miss Baillache and some of our ATSI students. These leaves will be laminated into book marks for students to keep. Here are some pictures of Kindergarten painting their NAIDOC leaves. Thank you Miss Baillache and our year six ATSI students for helping, our leaves turned out amazing.

Our Kindergarten students have been busy learning all about bees. They are now experts in bees and how they do so much more then make honey. They decided to thank the bees for all they do for us and our planet, by making them a bee hotel for the Living Smart Festival.

Mr T’s guitar lessons have become a real hit. These girls and Mr T were so engaged that they didn’t even notice me taking pictures.

Last week WWPS celebrated NAIDOC week. Senior Aboriginal students shared information surrounding the theme of NAIDOC week at morning assemblies, students explored Aboriginal perspective texts in classrooms and participated in a traditional Aboriginal games afternoon led by 5/6. Students also engaged in craft activities including a whole school leaf bookmark painting acitivty. The highlight of the week was the bush tucker workshop with Ashley Williams from Biraban Land Council, learning about the variety of purposes plants and natural materials have in our local area. We even got to taste some interesting plants! And a big thank you to the parents and carers who attended an afternoon tea to celebrate NAIDOC week and work towards revising our schools Acknowledgement of Country.
